Questa fontana ha una storia particolare, venne richiesta dai cittadini nel 1584 ma installata poi solo nel 1820, il motivo è che non c'era l'acqua necessaria per alimentarla, quindi si dovette aspettare fino a che l'edificio con l'inquisizione, che stava a 200 metri in linea retta (dove c'è adesso l'Hotel Compostela), venne abolito, così che l'acqua potesse essere reincanalata per uso pubblico. Quindi la cosa lugubre è che l'acqua che andò a nutrire la fonte era quella che bevevano i condannati prima di finire sul patibolo.
