It’s a nice monument and tribute to all the hard working immigrants from the past, present, and future that not only want to build a life in a new country, but also have a family and set up a new life in a safer spot.

Peaceful site right next to the Mississippi river. There are chairs where you could sit right next to her and look at the water. Right next to it are the ferry and cruise boats.

While visiting Jackson Square, we saw the Monument to the Immigrant and was captivated by its profound symbolism. Crafted by sculptor Franco Alessandrini in 1995, the marble statue is located on the bank of the Mississippi River in Woldenberg Park.

The monument elegantly depicts a female muse on one side, embodying hope across civilizations. Her flowing gown, an inspirational and spiritual presence, shadows the figures of four immigrants forming a family nucleus on the other side facing the French Quarter. The stylized female figure, resembling a ship's front, signifies the city's port and immigrant history. A must-see that beautifully celebrates unity and aspiration.

This is a lovely statue dedicated to all the immigrants that entered the new world at this very spot. I find this to be a touching monument to the common person who left everything and risked it all for a better future. A family, obviously exhausted and poor but with faces full of hope. This is a nice sculpture often missed by visitors to the city.

The Monument to the Immigrant is well worth stopping by to see! The double sided sculpture is astonishingly beautiful and such a peaceful place to visit! It’s been a few years since I was last here and I was very saddened to see that someone had defaced the back of the Monument with what appeared to be blue paint. I hope that the city soon cleans it up and gets it restored to its former beauty. 🖤
