I live on the east side of Greenville and visit McPherson Park just about every day. It's the best way to access the downtown area imo. I always find free parking here, even when big downtown events are in full swing. It's about a 10 minute walk from the park to NOMA Square, about 20 minutes to Falls Park.
McPherson Park is a nice destination in itself. The bathroom is clean, the trails (although short) are enjoyable, and there are plenty of amenities, including a playground, picnic shelters, a mini golf course, and a tennis court. The last two are very popular.
The park feels safe at night, and the fireflies are a treat in the summer months.
Those looking for a water spigot will find one around the back of the log cabin. Not sure why there isn't one closer to the bathroom or picnic shelters.

Great place to spend some time with family and friends. There is a free 18 hole mini golf course. All you need to do is bring your own putters and golf balls.

Park was nice, but very limited, the mini golf seemed fun, but lacked any visibility about how to start or join a game...a cute escape though, the tennis courts filled up pretty quickly afterwork hours however.

This park is by far one of the coolest city parks I’ve found in Greenville so far. The public minigolf course was recently renovated and looks fantastic. Located right on the outskirts of downtown off Academy, it’s a nice little hidden gem of a park with plenty of shade in the summer.

What's not to like? The entire park is very well taken care of and just charming. The train that rain through the park in the 50s has been replaced with a free putt-putt course. I haven't played, so I'm unsure if you need to bring your own putter and ball. Walking paths with benches, tennis courts, picnic shelters with tables, public restrooms, close parking, even a free book exchange. On the walking trails several small bridges cross over from what I've read is an unnamed creek. If it is unnamed, can I claim it? Dibs! I name thee body of water - Jeff Creek. The stone and concrete foot entrance with the cannons and National Register of Historic Places plaque looks amazing. I've been trying to track down and get a picture of all the available NRofHP bronze markers in Greenville. McPherson Park's plaque is displayed the grandest of any I've seen so far. The marker is prominently mounted on a stone podium centered between two cannons. It's the Frank Howard's Rock of landmark medallions!

Believe it or not, we've lived in Greenville County since 1994 and have never been to this mini golf course. I understand they updated it in recent years. It's very nice. Bring your own putter and balls and have in mind a way to keep score. (We used the skins method but you could print out a score sheet before going or find an app.) Obstacles are made of natural things like rocks and the landscaping is pretty. The park sits in a valley so you get the feel of a growing city around it. Fun.

McPherson Park in the North Main Neighborhood holds the title of the oldest park in Greenville. Established in 1884 this 12.5 acres of wooded haven is the home to Sears Recreation center and log cabin, which at one time served as a consignment shop for the sale of handicrafts made by retirees. Two playgrounds anchor the park on both ends, as an 18 hole miniature golf course (bring your own equipment for a free round) and bandstand claim a good portion of the middle of the park. Walking paths connect the two playgrounds, crossing a small creek with a number of bridges. Public bathrooms, off street parking and tennis courts are also available. The overall park is clean and maintained but walking paths are in need of attention as they are cracked, buckled and crumbing at the edges. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and take a moment to find tranquility in the murmur of the stream, the calling of birds and the laughter of children.
