My son and daughter enjoy Brooklyn Ballet. It’s hilarious that there are almost exclusively 5 star and 1 star reviews… I guess that says more about our time than Brooklyn Ballet. We just watched our kids be part of their gala, and while I have no expectation of them ever becoming ballerinas, I’m grateful for the opportunity this school provides to a very diverse group of students. I’m giving 5 stars - teachers are strict at times, because no child can learn ballet without that. If you expect learning to be entertaining and fun, I recommend a trip to Disney Land. You’re not going to learn much but you will be entertained. The two used to be seen as almost mutually exclusive when Neil Postman was still around.

..underwhelming.
If you're looking for a nice studio - try Mark Morris.
Don't really understand the structure of the place.. old barres. no changing space. no mirrors(??..they use a reflective film that has holes in it LOL)

Aoi was a passionate, informative teacher. I took the Adult Fundamental class and if I didn't have experience - I would've been lost.

I’ve been coming here for adult classes for about a year consistently and I’ve had the best experience. The instructors are attentive and create a great environment for beginners and those with prior experience alike!

Great experience in the Adult Begginers class - Yana is a great teacher!!! I took ballet for 5 years as a kid, and this was my first adult class. Exceeded my expectations for sure! I just went online and bought the 16 pack of classes ($10 a class is great!) There are some negative reviews on here, but they seem to just be a one time incident and doesn't reflect the current experience they provide. Cant wait to go back

I was never a ballet fan until I started attending the shows at Brooklyn Ballet. They are funky, provocative, and tell a gorgeous story. And the dancers are just awe-inspiring. I actually organized an outing of CUNY faculty and students for one of their shows, and all concurred, Brooklyn Ballet's talent superseded anything they had seen previously. Also, the Tues. evening beginners class, taught by Richard Glover, was great fun. He helped to foster such a wonderful and inspiring sense of community that by the end of the class, we all felt like friends.

I also have a colleague whose daughter has taken the children's classes at Brooklyn Ballet, and absolutely thrived. It is worth noting that all of my interactions with the Brooklyn Ballet staff have been exceptionally warm and friendly. In short, I highly recommend Brooklyn Ballet's shows and classes.

My 5 yr old daughter attended Brooklyn Ballet for 5 months. I had witnessed the staff being gruff and impudent to mothers with young children in the waiting room which was concerning. One day before class during this frigid winter my daughter fell outside the studio. When i brought her inside she was crying from the shock. Class was about to start and the director asked me and her to leave. I was 6 months pregnant and we had been taking classes for months. my 1st priority was to comfort my daughter so i tried to ignore her hoping she would just give up on asking us to leave (she did not want the crying from the waiting room affecting the kids in class) The director was so persistant and said there was a "back office" so i agreed to go. The "back office" was the hallway behind the school next to the DUMPSTERS!!!! i was 6 months pregnant and the stench made me nausous. The director was so eager to get rid of us that she actually picked up my daughters chair and carried her out. This was almost 6 months ago but this horrible experience has stayed with me. I k now they have a good reputation as a conservatory but I feel their lack of care and concern for their students is absolutely revolting.

Brooklyn Ballet may acquire a good reputation for their quality of services, however when it comes to professionalism, that is not the case.

A dear friend who had three 1-hour classes last night was a victim of racial profiling alongside the attendees. The employees during the evening hours are unprofessional and prejudicial. These women of color paid their dues and wanted to enjoy themselves just as I’m certain as everyone else. Now, their experience is left with embarrassment, belittlement, and are victims of racial profiling.

With that being said, I will not recommend this place of business.
