I have the same problem with soot on my window sill where I currently live , I can't open the windows. I need to sue the city for jeopardizing my health. I'm in the process of moving, I was looking into moving to Renoir apartment complex. Now that I see the reviews and issues, I changed my mind . Hopefully I can find a nice place to move expeditiously. I suffer with difficulty breathing because of the soot ..if anyone can please help me , please contact me I will greatly appreciate it.

In the 3 years I have lived here, we have had 6 sets of managers from Greystar and this building has had constant issues which jeopardize the tenants health and safety. (you can confirm this with the multiple violations reported to 311) The management company Greystar is horrible; they barely get back to you on issues and do not care about the well-being of their tenants. They will raise your rent between 10-15% minimum or even higher if you voice concerns and problems.
The building had a major fire, and during the fire the smoke alarms didn't even go off to alert us. The fire report clearly states the cause of the fire was electrical wiring which falls on Greystar management and the owners of the building, Carmel Partners. I was not able to live in my apt for 3 months because of the damage, and when my lease was up, Nancy the manager, raised my rent $350 a month. I know for a fact other tenants were offered free months or an increase no more than $100.
We constantly have issues with the elevator, I've documented 22 times this year they haven't worked. They expose us to asbestos, causing many of us breathing and health issues.
The air units always have issues and the pipes in the walls have bursts multiple times. This caused water issues where the walls had to be completely knocked down so the piping could be replaced. This has happened to me and 3 other neighbors I know.
And we are charged $50 a month for an "amenity fee" when there is always equipment in the gym that doesn't work and the floors in there have been buckled with water damage for almost 5 months now. This is NOT a luxury building!
Do your research before considering moving here. Rent at your own risk!

The Renoir House had a massive fire in Oct. 2021. The fire department had to break down people's doors, and the doors were left badly damaged. The property manager, Greystar, did not replace tenants’ doors for over 10 months. Greystar doesn’t care about tenants’ safety at all.
Also, the building has mice - see photos.

I'm updating my original comment from 53 days ago as nothing has changed. It has been 6 months and the generator is still there. Still extremely loud. Still cannot open my windows. Soot from generator has entered into my apartment from across the street. I've attached a photo of what my window sill looks like right now - I'm breathing this in!
The other day I saw an ambulance stalled for minutes because it couldn't get passed the generator. Yesterday there was a street festival for kids with bouncy castles and food, yet the whole street smells like generator exhaust. This building has no shame.
This whole situation is entirely unacceptable.
Original comment from March 2022:
Absolutely ridiculous. This building is causing extreme noise from a diesel generator that has been parked outside the front disrupting the lives of thousands of people in the neighborhood for many months. If you live within a certain radius of the building, you can’t even open your windows from the disgusting exhaust and pollution. For context: The building had a fire in October 2021…it is now March 2022 and the LOUD generator providing power for the entire building runs 24/7 from outside directly in front of the building.
It is a constant headache that doesn’t stop - affecting sleep, work and home life. The apparent ignorance and disdain the building ownership and management has for the residents of not only their building but for anyone that lives remotely close to this building is mind-boggling.
Before the building leaves an auto-generated response with a phone number to discuss, I have an even better idea: be transparent about when the problem will be fixed and the generator will be gone.

Sorry but I have to drop my review from 3 stars down to 1 star. Being here since 2020, every single negative review is 100% valid. Although rent seems to climb up quite nicely annually, management is unresponsive, does not prioritize safety and is not looking after tenant's best interest. In my true and honest opinion--stay away.

Hi
I have been living at Renoir House for 2 years now and has been a wonderful experience with the staff and the management. The staff is very kind, helpful and very responsive at all times. The building is always clean and the staff is always helpful. The Superintendent Ermal Marku is very responsive and helpful at all times! He goes above and beyond to make sure residents live in comfortable conditions and they have their issues solved promptly. He is very polite, kind and always shows an outstanding dedication when asked for any assistance.

I had great experience renting studio at this property. The application process was seamless - quick approval, minimal security deposit and no broker fees! The building staff is great - very friendly and responsive. I had minor leakage problem and super showed up right the way and the issue was resolved the same day. I rented a fully renovated apartment (nicely done finishes and appliances) and never had issues with bugs or rats. The building had some issues with AC but it was fixed (they installed new cooling tower and it works well). I had no issue with the laundry room and facilities are in great condition. Overall, I would definitely recommend it.
To the building management - keep doing great job!
