The San Jose Mission holds a special place in my heart as one of the most cherished destinations in San Antonio. Stepping onto its grounds, you're immediately whisked away to a different era, enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquility and beauty that stands in stark contrast to the contemporary world outside its walls. It's truly a serene oasis that offers a unique glimpse into the past.

Such a beautiful place!

When I first went there, a lot of people were wondering if I went to Spain or Mexico. When I said I went to Texas they did not believe it. I’ve only seen pictures of it on tour guides but definitely more beautiful in person

We went there on a weekday in the morning so it wasn’t too busy. It takes you around maybe 15-30 minutes to walk through

Would recommend dropping by this historic site.

Mission San Jose boasts breathtaking architecture. The self-guided tour, a symphony of sights and sounds, The grounds unfold with a gift shop and a stained glass workshop, adorned by information signs unraveling snippets of history. Abundant photo opportunities grace every corner, enticing exploration. The expansive trail, a canvas of history, beckons me, though venturing alone feels daunting. The bike trail awaits,

Within Mission San Jose, this church stands as its defining feature. Constructed simultaneously with the mission, it remains an integral part of its history. Among the all four nearby missions, our tour guide believed this one was the most successful in establishing a stronghold for Spanish colonizers.

If you have time to visit one of the missions in San Antonio, Mission San Jose should be on your list. We were lucky enough to take a tour with a park ranger, who told us about the history of this mission and pointed out some of the features like the frescos. Of course the the church is beautiful too.

It's such a beautiful place to visit. It doesn't matter how many times you've seen it. It never gets tiring. Fall weather made it even more perfect to walk around and enjoy history. We made it just in time before the bus load of tourists pulled up. Go early if you want to take pictures before the crowd comes in.
