Large dog park with a water fountain. Mulch base does very well after the rain, plenty of room for large dogs to run around. Separate area for small dogs & lots of room for humans to sit. No shade but water helps.

Beware they replaced the ground cover with low quality small wood ships. My dog ingested a some when playing fetch. End result 2000 vet bill, and no longer going to that dog park.

I don’t have a dog, but if I did I think this park would contain it very well, unless he could jump very high, which if I did have a dog I would want him to jump very high, so I probably wouldn’t bring him here often, but it would be better than having him pee all over the sidewalks, which is starting to stink up the Navy Yard, volumes of dog piss every day, normally within 3 feet of apartment entrances.
And there’s a neat windmill art sculpture at the corner that’s mesmerizing.

--SIZING--
Two areas. The big dog area is medium-sized. The small dog area is very small. The area is ringed by waist-height fences.
--SURFACE--
Mix of large-ish stones & dirt. Not a big fan of this surface. (Up til 2020 it was woodchipped, which was MUCH better)
--WATER--
Spigot & bowl on-site
--SHADE--
No shade
--INTERACTION--
No communal toys or other things for dogs to engage with.
--ENVIRONMENT--
Very loud due to the nearby interstate.
--SEATING--
Multiple benches.
--COMMUNITY--
Usually very nice people, except this site does attract a high share of rightwing fanatics who have pulled down masks & insult people.

A couple months ago a short fat crazy lady named "Lovely lisa", threatened to call the cops on my dog because he was a pitbull. I guess it's not the first time she's done this to someone, and she has a reputation for doing crazy things like that. My dog did absolutely nothing wrong, she just felt entitled to demand I leave because I had a pitbull.
I go everyday, so some of the regulars stayed there just in case the cops did come to back me up. I don't think she is mentally all there.
Besides the occasional crazy person, it's not a bad park. The only problem is that it has a drainage problem after it Rains and takes a couple days to dry out.

There are never any dogs there! I like to bring my pups to the dog park to socialize with other pups (they aren't big on fetch) but I have brought my pups by several times on Saturdays and there are never any dogs there!
If it were a bit larger or had some places to explore, I'm sure they'd have a blast exploring it alone, but its basically just a gravel rectangle. Oh well.

A simple, clean neighborhood dog park frequented by well behaved dogs and considerate owners. It's a fenced-in gravel area with a couple of benches. We don't need anything fancy as my dog enjoys herself socializing with the other dogs and convincing dog owners to scratch her butt. Parking is pretty convenient as long as there isn't anything going on at the ball park. If you're going to drive to get groceries at Whole Foods, why not bring the dog along for some fun at the dog park while your spouse does the shopping? Win-win.
