Goh Thew Chik Hainan Chicken Rice

Hot with nice oily floors, it's not the most serene of dining experience. Neither are the acoustics pleasant on the ears.

Yet, all this disappears once the plate of chicken goodness lands on the table. The crispy, almost fried skin. The succulent yet not mushy meat underneath. Sure, the white chicken is commendable as well. But you're here for the main show.

Which is the rice. I love it. I don't think I've eaten an oilier version, off the top of my mind. Pairs really well with their tangy chilli sauce, not a trace of sugar.

Bib-worthy, IMO.

We were searching for breakfast around our hotel at Chulia street but Monday is difficult day to locate one. As we pass by this chicken rice shop, their red Michelin Guide sticker caught our attention. Without hesitation, we step right in the restaurant. We ordered one half roasted chicken, one half hainanese chicken, a plate of vegetables and a plate of chicken giblets. I think the food is alright.

The ambience is fun ! The service great !

But the hainan is just so so for me, compare with wee nam kee restaurant. Expecting more from Michelin Restaurant

Nothing much to expect, overrated chicken rice with overcharged price. Michelin is a bad joke.

Rice tasted bland compared to most of Melaka chicken rice. Chicken has no char/ fragrant at all, purely relying on the soy sauce.

Melaka Chicken Rice tastes better.

I must question, how do they get Michelin recognition? Their food, the chicken rice to compare with Vietnamese Com Ga Tam Ky (Cơm gà Tam Kỳ) Tam Ky Chicken Rice, the Vietnamese Tam Ky Chicken rice is way better. The portion is super small and taste has something like bitter. And the service is super slow, I had to for more than 30 minutes to be served. A white man who came in after me even got served first. After the guy left I have my food. But one good thing is that the staffs are not rude which I like.

It's just okay. I'll try other outlets in Georgetown for my final verdict to determine whether it's one of the best. If any consolations, the auntie is nice and friendly.

Ordered a drumstick chicken served with super fragant rice for just RM7.50. Friendly lady boss. Total satisfaction.
