I was thrilled to visit this museum: I checked the opening hours, any sort of update or news then when I entered th building I've been told by the very polite employee that the museum was indeed open but empty. Yes, empty. No exhibition at all and no updates or warnings of it. Quite annoying.
The museum is not worth visiting. The ticket cost 8 euro which is very high compare to their very few exhibits. Northern Maritime Museum doesn't have any maritime experience. Outside they kept one ship which you can see before entering into the museum.Groningen has many more attractions to see except the museum.

Amazing, must visit museum. There is so much information about slavery and I was moved by the collection and stories. More and more people should visit this, it's worth it.
One of the most beautiful buildings in Groningen. This is by far my favourite museum. Today I got to share this experience with my son and wife. Little narrow staircases, low ceiling, and all the characteristics what history could give you as well as the great service of the people that work there. A great representation of the Dutch and Groninger naval history.
Way larger than expected. Interesting collection, wide variety of models and artifacts. If you are a collector this place it great. If you're interested in more context you might be missing a little. All in all very entertaining and detail oriented.
Having been to the Amsterdam scheepvaart museum this one is a bit disappointing.
The staff was really friendly and the location is really nice. The building is a historic building with authentic beams.
