Sol Mexican Grill

I am from Texas and know Mexican food, but this is not Mexican food. I rarely eat Mexican food anywhere except in my hometown because San Antonio has the best in the country. This place was new to me and I thought it was a small business owned eatery. It is not, they have several if not more.

My experience.

1. I walk in and they looked (two of them) bored and as If they hated being there. No smiles, no "hello welcome"

2. I asked to have my tortillas warmed up and toasted. He made a feeble attempt as they were still cold and from a plastic bag that you get from the store, so that was a clue this was just a fast food wanna be Mexican place.

3. The Asada was luke warm at best and dry.

It was just horrible. I am Mexican-American and I know what it is suppose to taste like. People in DC have no clue what Mexican Food is suppose to taste like so they are being fooled.

What a waste. I will never go back.

I usually go for a Chicken Bowl and tried it here a couple of times & we really loved it. Good quality and authentic mexican food.

Just think of Chipotle but local with better flavor and fresher ingredients. I will prob never step foot into a Chipotle again. I will say, I wish they would add a bit more flavor to their ingredients. The sauces you can add at the end def helps add that flavor, but I feel they white-washed their recipe to accomodate to the many white working class in the area. Otherwise, its good. I will be back. If you’re hungry, I would always go for the bowl, I feel they do skimp a bit on the burritos. They are not usually filling for me.

It was okay. I feel like the food has minimal seasoning and tasted bland, the portion size was also so small compared to previous visits…it was like a baby burrito at $13. (Photo after two bites). I would not go back.

Food was perfectly fine. But the food was just normal, nothing fancy, nothing remarkable. Service was fast, but not super friendly or that helpful, just going through the routine. Ordered a Burrito and was in and out in just a few minutes.

Got an early lunch here and was glad this location was near where I was staying.
Had a good selection of food to order, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt.
I liked that they had a "Mexican" style of rice here, and a really good selection of toppings for a bowl. It also tasted WAY BETTER than Chipotle to me, in that it wasn't overcooked, overseasoned, and overly pretentious. (The chips were a bit stale to me, but they weren't overly salty.)

I wanted something really quick to eat, so I stopped in at this take out restaurant. I walked in, and the setup was like a Chipotle. I ordered the 2 chicken tacos with everything and paid and left. When I dug in, the tacos were delicious! I enjoyed it and had a good experience.
