SCAM ALERT : the 24h ticket is a scam. It expires right after you validate it once. Then they tell you that it’s okay because they can open the doors for you but not during the evening or during holidays.
Scamming people is illegal, if the Italian authorities want to do something about it

No lift, very small metro station, dark and without any facility as other European metro stations.

When the train is running it is fine but when they shut it down without warning it is a bit of a challenge to know what to do to find the replacement bus.

It was pretty comfortable to travel by metro, to major sites of the town. Credit card payment worked well, 72 hours metro card was bought, convenient to save time and get to trains without wasting time at metro entry.

An underground station under Piazza Barberini, the "Fontana di Trevi" was added to the name in 2000. It is indeed the closest station to the fountain which is a huge draw but it's a 500m walk (mostly downhill). It's also close to Piazza del Quirinale (the Presidential Palace), the Fontana del Tritone and the Fontana delle Api.

The station serves Line A of the Rome Metro, between Spagna (towards Battistini) and Repubblica (towards Anagnina). There is an escalator from street level to the ticketing concourse and to the platform. The station opened in 1980 so it's relatively modern and nicely decorated with mosaics.

On the platform there is a visible sign indicating how long until the next train. It is relatively free of litter.

Yet another crowded, dirty Rome metro station. But... if you're lucky you'll get to ride one of the nice, new, clean cars!
