Here's a hot take, I'm not really one for gimmicks, like edible gold, dry ice, lighting things on fire, you know the biz. I know, seems VERY contradictory for me, but sometimes one just appreciates the simple things in life, like high quality sushi with no frills.
My personal favorite to get said sushi is Izakaya Osen in Silverlake. Thiccc slices of fresh fish that are already perfectly dressed, and signature rolls that are bursting with flavor.
You know me, I had to add a little bit of spice to my meal, and tried the A5 wagyu hamburg steak that came on a sizzling plate!

Absolutely stunning sushi and the toro unagi is to die for! This is an authentic Japanese spot tucked away in Silverlake. The whole fare here is beyond splendid. Worth two visits!
It was my first time visiting Izakaya Osen. They served great quality dishes. We ordered famous dishes, which are Toro Uni Bowl, Blue Crab Uni Bowl, Creamy Nagasaki Udon Navbe, and Sushi & Sashimi and Spicy Tuna on crispy rice and Yellowtail sashimi for appetizer.
For dessert is green tea ice cream. It was fantastic testing. If you like sushi, I highly recommend to go~~🍣🍢🦪

idek how many times I’ve been here since 2023 September… this restaurant can be top 5 places I love and recommend to people in LA. The pricing might be a lil pricey, but that’s the only one thing u need to consider. Other than that, the vast majority of the dishes r super delectable. I love the tuna uni and Omakase bowls. The beef tongue was bussin. Aki tastes nice as well w caviar. The normal aki version might be a bit plain.
