Best ramen in the city

Whenever I need to bring someone to a spot I know won't miss no matter what is ordered, I take them here. The Gyōkai broth is rich with strong seafood overtones that tie together well with the gu. This time around I tried the spicy tonkotsu gyōkai (pork & chicken chashu) and the yuzu shio (chicken chashu) with added soft boiled egg and seaweed. Also ordered the agedashi mochi; the sauce was good and the mochi chewy, like that served during oshogatsu. The yuzu brightens the chicken broth well without feeling like it was sprinkled on as an afterthought like some other places do. The spicy tonkotsu is also not too spicy, so don't worry if your heart tolerance is low. The noodles also had great bite and flavour to them. The only thing I wish was different was that the egg would be marinated longer, and some seasonings were on each table/available for request, like salt, pepper, and garlic or sesame.

We came here around 11:30am on Sunday. We got a table right away. It was not too busy. Servers who are Japanese greeted us at the door and they were very friendly.

We reviewed menus and looked at ingredients and then we selected our choices on a piece of paper by circling all the items that we wanted. The sheet of paper or menu was very self explanatory. After we made our selections, one of the servers confirmed our choices and placed an order for us.

The ramen came out quickly. We tried the soup base and had a first bite of the ramen and ingredients. Everything was very good.

We decided to have a coffee elsewhere otherwise we would have tried one of their desserts. The desserts looked delicious listed on the menu.

The customer service here was really nice and friendly. The food was pretty good here I really liked the pork chashu in the ramen because it was so tender. The only thing I had trouble with was the searing but other than that this place is definitely worth trying out.

definitely a go-to ramen spot in vancouver. feels like a classic japanese ramen joint with flavourful broths and monthly specials. quick service as well- can be in and out in 30 mins. hakata spicy tonkotsu and gyokai shoyu tonkotsu are my go-to’s. melon ice cream soda is also a must. a dinner special that i always get is the age mochi. not the best karaage in my opinion as it was a bit oily the last time i had it but they were trying out a different batter so maybe it’s better now

Came here for lunch with a group of friends.
Service was wonderful, they kindly greeted us when we entered. Server was also very kind and accommodating.
Food was excellent and reasonably priced for the portions. Taste wasn’t overwhelmingly strong and the chicken karaage is delicious. The food came out very quick and they were generous with toppings.
I would definitely come here again if close by.

First ramen we have in Vancouver - better than my expectation! Love that we can choose the hardness of the noodles! Yum yum! Their tofu is also good!!
