One of the best experiences you could have on Anzac Day, the shrine is such a beautiful place to spend time and learn all about the Anzac's and even the civilians who assisted in all the wars. If anything be prepared to spend a whole day at the shrine, there's so much to see and do and learn, it doesn't have to be Anzac Day to come to the shrine you can come 7 days a week.

To the east of the Shrine located on Birdwood Ave is a statue titled Widow and Children which was commissioned by Legacy and dedicated in 1988. The sculpture symbolises the work of Legacy caring for the widows and children of veterans. It is a small bronze sculpture by Louis Larmen, mounted on a grey granite block and set inside a cruciform shaped garden, known as the Legacy Garden of Appreciation.

The Flanders Poppies which bloom in the garden around Remembrance Day on 11 November each year, are from seeds taken from World War I battlefields of Belgium and Villers-Bretonneux in France.

The Shrine of Remembrance and its gardens are a must-see landmark in Melbourne.
