MLI Homestay

MLI is a wonderful homestay program! I had the opportunity to host a young lady that stayed for ten months. My family and I enjoyed so many times and outings teaching and also learning from our student. We loved this incredible time and would love to host again because MLI is a wonderful program. They are super supportive and are always available to help in instances where you have questions or are unsure of what to do. I was very very lucky to have an incredible coordinator Lynette in Victoria who was always responsive, patient and kind. Lynette always added to this experience because of her fun loving personality and made us feel incredibly comfortable the entire time. I suggest MLI to future host families. You will not regret it;)

My mom and dad have hosted a couple of students with MLI. My brother and sister and I have really liked having students from other countries stay with us. It’s fun to learn about their culture, their food and share with them about Canada. Our favourite time of year is always Christmas! Our small town has a big community event and we volunteer as elves. It’s so fun!

It's been fun to host exchange students with MLI. It gives my family a taste of what other cultures are like. Our first exchange student was like a daughter, and my kids have fond memories of their "Japanese sister". It's a rewarding experience to give an international student a welcoming stay while in Canada and away from home.

Hosting with MLI was very easy and secure. Initial paperwork to get you set up to have the best match possible. Ongoing support via phone or in person. Looking forward to continue hosting international student with MLI. This is such a great opportunity to discover other cultures and to learn from others while making new contacts worldwide.

I have been hosting with MLI for about 7 or 8 years. They are very well organized and very supportive of their hosts and students!! I have hosted Chinese girls, Japanese, Brazil,Spain and Belgium girls!! Opening my home to the girls and providing a loving home and parents resting assured their children are cared for so many miles ahead!! I have a few that have graduated and have moved on to University and are still in youth with us!! One girl her parents trusted us with her daughter that once she graduated high school moved on the University of Waterloo with a scholarship we were her parents. We took her to University and treated her as our own and set her up and was here in Canada for 7 years after and she went home to China to do her masters but is now looking for employment in Canada to return to and call home And for the coordinators I have dealt with a Rippy who is magnificent at what she does!! I myself have Janis Foy and I could not ask for a more supportive, caring and punctual individual!! You call her for anything and she is right on top of things. Weather it’s for school or travel or concerns that hosts have she is so on top of things. She is very well fit for her position and I could not ask for a better coordinator than her!!! Thank you MLI for an amazing company and to give the children a chance to study in Canada!!

As a local coordinator for MLI, I am naturally inclined to gather people. The difference about this role is the beautiful relationships that Get built sustained. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the students progress with their English proficiency machine. The host family show them on our city. Sometimes just the simplest things are so meaningful. I’ve built many friendships that are working for MLI and I adored the students who still keep in touch in fact, Spanish student hosted in 2017 is now in law school.

I hosted students for 10 years from various countries and every experience was unique. Many of the students I still keep in contact with. It was a rewarding experience not only for myself and my husband but for my whole extended family and friends. Now that I am a Local Coordinator for MLI I share my experience in hosting with other host families as well as interact with many more students from all over the world.
