A really great bookstore. Inviting, big selection, friendly service, lots af reviews from employees and more. Great to see physical shops fighting online shopping…
I went inside for the first time the other day. Dog friendly which was great. Even given a g
Treat and having water outside for dogs on the street. Standard book selection. Great gift section. A downstairs used book section.

Brookline Booksmith has always been my favorite independent bookstore in Boston. They have a wide array of books (all genres) and a wonderful basement filled with used book treasures. Whenever I visit the city, I have to stop in!
Upon my visit in May, I was pleasantly surprised to see they expanded the store. I loved the area dedicated to cooking and specialty gifts like fun and fancy chocolates. I never walk out of Brookline Booksmith empty handed!
Highly recommend you visit and set aside an afternoon to get lost in the bookstore, your mental health will thank you!

I'm a frequent customer of Brookline Booksmith, and I am always pleased with the customer service; everyone is always helpful and friendly. However, every encounter I've had with the bald gentleman downstairs who handles the buying books has been negative. At this point, I think I will just donate my books some place else because I dread having to interact with him.

Great variation of books.
They so sell used books.
Also small snacks at the checkout.

My visit to this bookstore was absolutely delightful. The carefully curated bookshelves, adorned with staff recommendations, added a charming human touch in this digital age. I was particularly touched by the section proudly displaying “banned books sold here, love freedom.” This place is incredibly LGBTQIA+ friendly, and I’m thrilled I had the opportunity to explore it during my time in Boston.
