The pharmacy attached to this is mediocre! I was prescribed a 5 day course of antibiotics to be started immediately. The pharmacist didn’t have them in stock and offered to order them in with a 4 day lead time! I then demanded a printed copy of the prescription to take anywhere. The electronic prescription system feels like a monopoly.

Moved areas recently and dreaded changing GP. But can I just say how pleasantly surprised I've been with this surgery. Yes, there are waits on the phone and for appointments (as there are everywhere) but I feel they really try to sort you out as best they can. And the receptionists have always been super friendly and helpful. A bit of understanding on both sides goes a long way, keep it up!

You must queue outside from 07:30 to have a hope of getting an appointment when they open the door at 08:00. Telephone bookings don't work, too much demand.

You will then be asked what your issue is as they MUST tell the doctor. When they can't hear you because of the perspex screen separating you from them, you. must say it loudly enough for the whole room to understand your issue.

When you get your appointment it is usually a phone call from the doctor at any time in the day (they can't tell you when). That is of course, unless they get a non medically trained staff member to call you and pass along a message such as 'so what's the problem?'.

More and more as the years go by, people go out of their way to avoid having to see you. I'm sure the doctors are just too busy to see everyone.

Update 1 year later: Adding another star after a couple of really good interactions with a Dr Finnikin.

I give this feedback with great appreciation and thanks! Even though it was quite difficult to see a doctor, after a lot of pain and many phone calls, talking to the robot for hours and waiting in line at the GP to get an appointment that always ended 15 minutes after opening...I am registered at Four Oaks Medical Center but as appointments were completed there I was referred to Ley Hill Surgery and I met a great doctor here! I consider the health system difficult, arduous, but this doctor inspired me with confidence through her desire to help me solve my health problems. I saw in her patience in listening to me, understanding and passion in what she does. Although she is a young doctor, I saw a lot of professionalism and knowledge, who acted immediately, I went to the doctor only for back pain, but with her help I will also solve a dermatological problem, since the first meeting! I consider myself lucky to have met you! And I am convinced that you will help many people! Thank you Dr Jaspreet Khaira!

After receiving a text from a Doctor to contact the surgery for a review in relation to medication. I have tried on several occasions to obtain an appointment or even a telephone appointment. I was told that no appointments were available and try at 8.00 am in the morning. In another few weeks my medication will run out and I will be told that I need a review. Never used to be like this at least I could be guaranteed a telephone appointment. Annoyed long standing patient of Ley Hill Surgery.

I would suggest although google is great for potentially new patients what to expect, patients should send their feedback to the CQC this is the only way we can see any improvement in care for the Sutton Coldfield group practice and for our feedback to be noted. Experience as a patient who spent one hour trying to get hold of receptionist and finally got through, said would be called back never happened days later, had to take time off work instead to go into the surgery to book the apt instead, no surprise wasn’t a soul in the queue at reception obviously we are being made to call a very busy inaccessible central line. We’re in a cost of living crisis, taking of work to book an appointment is far from ideal!

Giving this four stars because when you eventually get to speak with or see a GP or practice nurse, they are excellent.

I have just endured the degrading experience of attempting to secure appointments for my wife and daughter, spelling out intimate symptoms in front of a room full of people. There is zero privacy and voices need to be raised since they still have their plastic screens with hospitals and pharmacies dispensed with many weeks ago.

Queued up in the car park at 07.40 since, as is often the case, the previous day's appointments had gone by the time I got through on the phone. Pitching up before the doors open is the most effective way to secure an appointment at this practice.

The non-medically trained receptionists are tasked with the job of interpreting a non-urgent or urgent appointment. An urgent appointment warrants a telephone call from a doctor with a possible follow-up later that day. today, it was not possible to book a non-urgent appointment. You cannot book a day or so ahead - it's either on the day or a wait of several weeks. Perhaps this is because people forget to turn up or get better in the meantime. In any event, it is a poor system for patients suffering with acute flare-ups of chronic conditions.

I do not see the sense in interviewing a patient by telephone only to go over everything for a second time later that day. Even if the doctor establishes that a face-to-face is un-necessary, they have just spent 10 minutes of their time on the phone with further time for post phone call admin anyway. They may as well just see every patient (as they used to) and kill two birds with one stone.

In my view, patients at this surgery are over-triaged - possibly a hang-over from COVID. As others have stated on here, I haven't seen the waiting room anywhere near full for a very long time.
