Celebraring the arrival of the Mormon Battallion. They arrived 177 years ago on a military assignment by the US Army after the war with Mexico enfdd. The Battallion brought unexpected peace, community service including building brick buildings in the fledgling town. The "Mormons", nickname at that time for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had voluntarily sent the earnings from the military service back to their families who were making their way into the Salt Lake Valley.

Can't wait for my next visit. I did a road trip across the States, and this one of my favorite stops. Unfortunately, I arrived late and was able to explore everything they had to offer. What I was able to see, however, was really cool. I left with a ton of unique art pieces and great food.

Always have loved this beautiful place.
