I have been riding horses at Backcountry for YEARS now! They have known me ever since I was a little kid! They are the BEST riding place around! Now it just feels like home! It is so great every single instructor there cares SO much about your horse experiences! They make it the best they can! They are so good with every single kid that steps foot on their property! No matter how much horse experience you have this is an amazing place for you to start or continue your horse adventures!

This is such a neat place for kids to have a fun experience with horses. My kids loved it.

Registration paperwork has been lost every year since our child has attended their summer camps. Sometimes, it's lost multiple times in a single season. We received another "URGENT" notice asking us to resubmit everything for the third time.

Wonderful program offerings and professional and personable instructors at Backcountry Wilderness Area Horse Corrals. After attending the Horsmanship Class plan on returning for riding lessons.

This was my daughter's 'favorite camp ever!' She attended horse camp for the first time this summer as an 8 year old. She had taken some riding lessons prior to camp, however, she felt she learned more in one day at this camp than in several months of private lessons. The staff was professional and knowledgeable. I also felt confident that they operated with the safety of the students first and foremost, not only with the horses, but even in handling severe weather conditions (thunderstorms and a tornado). I highly recommend this camp to any families interested in gaining experience with horses.

Unsafe for large groups of younger aged kids. Not enough instructors to help ALL the kids at the same time around these huge animals. Please read the waiver before signing off on any planned group activity for your child. We have attended other programs in the area. The incident with our child could have easily been tragic, I was told there was no instructor within ear shot of my child, only other children. No one even noticed the injury because the instructors were preoccupied and that could’ve led to further injury! We are happy to continue lessons at facilities that we know take EVERY precaution during lessons of any size/age group.

Wonderful riding school in a beautiful setting with a stunning view of the mountains. They offer both English and Western style lessons. The school horses are good-natured and really help the students progress. The corrals are well kept and the horses are nurtured. They have 4 regular arenas with obstacles and two round ones. They don't have an indoor arena, though. Such a pity... You can purchase Private lessons, Group lessons and Trail rides. They all last 60min in which the students get their horses from their pen, tack them, ride them and finally untack and lead them back home with their buddies. Nichole is an excellent teacher, knowledgeable, kind, professional, easy to talk to and fun. She really knows how to connect and communicate with kids. She is terrific.
