HALAL & VEGETARIAN/VEGAN EATERS BE WARNED.

Myself and my family went to visit on a Saturday as we heard really good things about the coffee and French toast. The first server was lovely as I asked would you be able to serve us, he said the kitchen would close in half an hour so you don’t have long. I asked if I could use the toilet and when I came back. A lady who then asked me if I had dietary issues as I said halal but would just eat the vegetarian / French toast only. She the proceeded to tell me she can’t meet those dietary requirements even if it’s the French toast because they only have one grill and everything is mixed together. Yet why would you offer vegetarian and vegan, GF options on your menu, clearly marked with a V GF etc???? As you can see in the photos attached. So clearly this is false advertisement. The lady who served us was not even apologetic, so rude and had horrible customer service. We were a large family so we were going to spend around £250-£300 which as a business owner I would be mortified. Also I don’t even if she was lying about the grill because she didn’t want to serve us 30 mins before closing as we were a large party. All she had to do was apologise and say I’m sorry the kitchen is closing and we can’t be served as we are a large party. I felt really discriminated against and embarrassed. Also we travelled all the way from south of England and were hoping to try the food and coffee with no apology.

This was the worst eggs Benedict I have ever had in my life. Eggs were so over cooked that they were essentially hard boiled. They didn’t even bother to dry the eggs so there was water on top of the smoked salmon. The taste was also subpar. I’m genuinely surprised as to how this place survives without even being able to manage a simple Benedict. The only positive about this place was the ambience and kind servers. It was a waste of time and calories.

It is located in the old town where everything is around you.
We ordered one Egg Benedict with salmon, and that was average.
One Croque Madam without ham, and that was one of the best I have ever tasted. I wish if they could add turkey to it.
Overall rating 4.3 out of 5.

Fabulous venue for brunch, drinks and a getting together with friends. Good selection of coffee, cocktails and food, including some delicious vegetarian options. Well priced for what you would expect in central Edinburgh. Attention to detail is very high, excellent service (especially Saski) and a relaxed atmosphere.
Would highly recommend, but do book to avoid disappointment! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
