Decide to dine here for dinner because of the high rating. We did the $86 feed me deal:
Hanoi spring rolls - 5/5
BBQ rice paper rolls - 1/5 stingy w/ the meat
XO pips - 3/5
Banh khot - 3/5

ORDERED:
🌽 Grilled corn: Traditional char grilled corn topped with sweet coconut cream & spring onion glaze ($17.00)
🦪 XO Pipi's: with crispy tiger bread croutons ($34.00)
🥞 Banh Khot (10 pieces): Mini crispy Vietnamese pancakes with prawn. Served with lettuce and dipping sauce ($29.00)

🥥 Fresh young coconut drink ($9.50)

It was $51.55 for my portion here.

REVIEW:
✔ Hawker boys has a fun modern take on Vietnamese food.
💛 1. The grilled corn is reminiscent of the street food you find in Vietnam. You've got the smokiness of the corn, the subtle sharpness of the spring onion glaze and Hawker Boy's creaminess from the coconut cream. It's comfortable street food that's been elevated into a restaurant setting.
🧡 2. XO pipis is typically a Chinese dish but Hawker boys take it in a Vietnamese direction with the crispy tiger bread. The bread is important to tone down the saltiness of the XO pipis and works well together, but nothing beats the satisfying oiliness of the traditional chinese doughnuts. The shallots were a fun addition to add a bit of sweetness.
🤎 3. Banh Khot was made very closely to how I've had it traditionally. It was fun to introduce my friend to it. Just a banh xeo but in more accessible bites!

Service left more to be desired.
After they checked in on us, we asked for more time to read and digest the menu and they... didn't come back. 😢 We had to flag someone down to take our order but it felt like they very much lost interest.

Excellent food and lovely staff. We were a table of 10 and without exception we all had super delicious meals (including gluten free and 2 fussy eaters)! High recommend this restaurant 👌 and also 3 kakigori venues very close by for dessert too!

Service was great - super kind people at the counter and very accommodating.

The food was decent but nothing special. Was looking for some chilli oil but they didn’t even have it. It was good for what we needed because we were in a hurry.

Menu looked very appealing so I had to try this place out. Was looking for a simple Vietnamese rice bowl and this place delivered. I got the chicken, asked for extra meat and got crispy pork as the extra. Decent serve of pork but a little fatty unfortunately. Chicken was delicious, if I’m being picky it would have been nice if the chicken was smaller size as it came in big chunks but that’s a minor thing. The food was tasty, staff were helpful and the food came out fast. Seems pretty casual inside but I didn’t eat in.

Really enjoyed dinner with my friends on a packed and lively Saturday evening, definitely book a place! The portions of food were really good and we ordered all vegetarian, the spring rolls, special fried rice with tofu, the vegan curry and mini pancakes! Staff is really friendly and Service was quick!

A really good Vietnamese fusion restaurant with a nice atmosphere.

We came here and tried their feed me menu which cost us $39/person. The foods were really delicious!

We were really full after 5 small and 5 large dishes. The fried chicken and the potato prawn spiral are my favourites but the rest are delicious too.

Will definitely come back for more next time.
