I wanted to bring to your attention to a incident that occurred during my recent visit to Central Fresh Market. I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the unfair treatment and racist behavior I experienced from an employee named Steve.
On September 7, 2023 around 11:20Am I visited the store to purchase food for my little sister. As I approached the entrance, I noticed a line formed for students from the nearby high school during their break time. However, as a regular customer, I assumed I could enter the store without waiting in line. Unfortunately, Steve stopped me and insisted that I join the line, despite my explanation that I was not a student. He dismissively replied, "Doesn't matter, get in line."
I attempted to clarify the situation by explaining that I was not a student and even offered to show my ID as proof. However, Steve completely ignored my words and continued to let other regular customers enter the store without questioning them. I felt humiliated and discriminated against, as if I was being treated differently solely based on the assumption that I was associated with the group of students nearby.
Feeling upset and frustrated, I left the store and went to Tim's. Upon returning, I approached another employee to express my concerns about the unfair treatment I had received. I wanted to ensure that my voice was heard and that such behavior would not be tolerated in your establishment.
I believe it is crucial for Central Fresh Market to address incidents like these promptly and take appropriate action to prevent such mistreatment from occurring in the future. Customers should be treated with respect and fairness, regardless of their background or association with other individuals.
I kindly request that you investigate this matter and take the necessary steps to address the behavior of Steve and ensure that all employees are trained to provide equal and respectful service to every customer. Additionally, I would appreciate receiving an update on the actions taken to address this issue.

On the one hand, it's an independent grocery store with a pretty great meat department.
On the other, the owners have threatened to sue the city because they think the LRT makes it too confusing to drive to their giant parking lot. Meanwhile, their bicycle parking consists of a few ring posts bolted into loose bricks you can just lift off the ground. One certainly wonders if they're leaving revenue on the table by making it unnecessarily difficult to shop there by any means other than a car.

Nice groceries store with almost all you needa are available here. Fruit, Vegetables, Meat, Seafood and Poultry, Fresh or Frozen. Other daily groceries, bath, laundry and others.

The meat section is usually great but everything else is overpriced. Absolutely check expiry dates on everything though because they're not on top of that.

I’m originally from Sault Ste Marie so this store brings me back and reminds me of home. Ben Pino knows what he’s doing. Buy the sausages ! All of them! Hi Mr. Pino !

Love this store .Always get amazing deals. Love the meat section
99% of the staff are amazing . Brent is always super helpful. Josana, Brenda, Sadaie ,Judith are amazing at the checkouts and customerservice. Al and Mike are shining stars in the meat department. Allie and Brohman know their veggies and fruit.
Very knowledgeable. Staff have even helped me pick up groceries and get them in my car . I understand young people have attitude . But the young girl 20 ish with the short dirty blonde hair has attitude. I think her name is Kelsee .When she's at customer service I avoid getting lotto tickes. I don't like hearing the rude mummbles. If she is working customer service she should be happy. Or work in a different department. Maybe the freezers. Thank you Brent for being amazing

I've been shopping at Central Fresh Market (formerly Central Meat Market) for many many years. The best meat selection in the Region of Waterloo. My favourite are the Pigtails (short cut). So many choices for pork and beef. They make their own ground beef. If you want a special cut, just ask at the counter. A large selection of European products - my source for Hayward's Pickled Onions. Great selection of produce -- Cipollini onions and loose Yukon Gold potatoes. Excellent customer service!
