Bartender last night 9/11/24 was incredibly rude and super intense before it had even gotten busy. Throwing around shot glasses and seemingly not even pouring full shots. Way too stressed and aggressive and taking it out on the customers

Really great intimate place for a date night with nice cocktails. Website says they have live music starting at 9, bartender said it would start at 10, but still no live music when we left at 10:45. Oh well.

Lovely place, good experience and time with my friends

The Toff really care about looking after up and coming local artist's! I reached out to film my music video and Beth and the team were all amazing to help make it a success. I'm so grateful for their support leading up to it and on the day filming. Great communication and a genuine, friendly team, Thank you!

Came into the Toff a few months ago as it spiked my interest. Not from Melbourne but was made to feel immediately welcome by the staff.
Walked in and Caitie, the manager, was really fantastic from the get go.
Good music, good vibes and decent pricing. Have been coming in a few times since then and it’s always been a pleasure.

Some of the best live music I’ve ever seen in the world to be honest;
The musicians were amazing and super humble when chatting to on their half way break. DJ played perfect sets before, in-between and after. The band played jazz funk neo-soul, live hiphop and disco / house. Dance floor was bumping and the cocktails are phenomenal.

Went to the Toff last night with my friends to celebrate our friend’s birthday after dinner. Everything was fine and good initially, door staff was friendly and we found seats along the long bench facing the wall. Some of us went to order drinks and toilets while two of our friends sat there facing the wall and on their phones while looking after our bags. When we came back, we saw the security guard named MJ rudely abusing and swearing to one of our friends and being really aggressive to her. We asked what happened and he kept swearing at her and telling her this is his place of work and she’s not welcome, when she did nothing wrong or even talked to him at all and was here for our friend’s birthday and she didn’t choose the location or knew he worked there. The manager Martina came over and did nothing to diffuse the situation or ask what happened but instead supported the abusive security guard and ask our friend to leave.
So of course, we all decided to leave after that horrible treatment. Once outside, we asked our friend what happened as it was clear to everyone, including the manager, that my friend and the security guard MJ knew each other. She explained that they used to be best friends but had a falling out four years ago and he clearly still held a grudge against her. The place is big enough for both of them, she was facing the wall and did not interact with him but he clearly felt the need to go up to her and abuse her.
If that’s how a business allows their staff to treat guests based on their own personal issues, then it is unprofessional and they don’t care about guests experience and not worth going to. If you allow your staff to kick people out based on their own bias, then you won’t have many customers left. Don’t think it’s professionally run either if they allow a security guard to be drinking on the job, he was holding a glass of alcohol and a pack of cigarettes in his hand and kept on following us intimidatingly around to ensure we left. Just FYI, he said he works there Fri & Sat nights, so other nights may be better there without him there abusing guests.
There’s many other better bars in Melbourne who will treat their guests better. God forbid you are on any of their staffs’ personal “blacklist”, you’ll get kicked out before you can even have a drink!
