My favorite Branch. Not huge but surprisingly comprehensive. Staff is uniformly helpful and available..

Bruh I swear, I May be ONLY a 14 yr old who just moved here from Brazil, but I can Tell you the staff I met in this place is unbelievably kind. I forgot my darn wallet and if it wasn't for them, I would have lost $5
Thank you, NYPL!

The worker on the second level was weirdly hostile when I wandered up there looking for a quiet place to work. If there is a sign somewhere stating that the area is for children only, it's not obvious and should be made more prominent.

Further, the policy itself strikes me as odd. Restricting use of the second floor during the middle of the day when most kids are in school seems like poor allocation of public space.

Love the quiet back garden and handmade art and general grassroots vibe of this library.

Many of the reviewers speaking of staff negatively have no idea what these people do on a daily basis and take interactions that have nothing to do with themselves out of context. Judge only your own interactions.

This place is amazing. Super busy and still a gem tucked away on a side street.

Could be better. Some of the staff are really unkind. Reading the reviews makes me question, why are most of the 5 star reviews white?
Anyways, I believe this Library has potential but, not with some of the staff. When it comes to working at a library you have to be kind and have patience with people, especially kids. I understand it can get hectic and noisy and some caretakers take advantage of that, but you can’t lose patience. Just today, one of the staff was talking mean to one of the kids. It just doesn’t look great for this place.
I’ll just keep going to the one at 53rd street!

Such a gem in the neighborhood. It is always clean and have a decent book selection. The stairs make it hard to bring a large stroller but there is a great room upstairs for children section. I took advantage of the free resume review with Sherry - to be honest I had low expectations. However I found it was hugely informative. I left with a WEALTH of knowledge, perspective, and resources after spending the 30 mins with her. Come prepared and with an open mind and can really benefit from the service.
