If you’re interested in living here, RECONSIDER! Problems:
Elevators broken often, took 9 months to renovate all three
1-2x a week no water or hot water
Construction inside and out, every day. They’re renovating dozens of units at a time as well as the exterior, putting styrofoam and spray foam outside your window. The workers descend upon your window from a lift (how creepy!) as early as 8am, so be sure you wear clothes when you sleep!
Cheap materials in renovated apts (vanity/sink/faucets) that leak and break
Loud neighbors who play music all night and day
My dishwasher kept having backwash from the sink, creating a terrible odor - management never came to repair. “Someone’s coming” they said… nobody came.

The pros:
Really nice views from all sides, great sunshine
When the building isn’t being drilled on and it’s quiet, it’s quite nice. It’s just that it never stays that way for more than a day.

Luxury building is not what this place can be called. Three times I have had to climb 27 flights of stairs because the elevators are broken. There are three but one is being upgraded, the one that was upgraded doesn’t work most of the time and the other works when it feels like it. No hot water for 4 days. Items are stolen if you order from Amazon. The AC units in a brand new apartment don’t work. Don’t waste your time or money. And the 5 start reviews are from employees and not tenants.

EDIT: Due to construction you will continually have black material (like styrofoam) come into the apartment through the AC. It will cover everything.

Do not live here until they’re finished with the facade. 1295 and 1309 5th (The Heritage) have been under construction since 2017 or 2018, first with the windows, then the balconies, then the elevators, now the facade, soon the (nonexistent gym room and lounge even though they’re marketed with mock-ups of them). For the last 4 years there’s been drilling, knocking, broken elevators, loud neighbors, at least 3-6 months of the year. They’re turning this entire several-hundred unit building into a luxury condo, but imagine living through all the construction WHILE IT HAPPENS!

Nobody in this building wears a mask!!!! People pack into the elevators no masks, no cares given. I feel like posting some signs around the elevator banks reminding folks not to step in without a mask on would go along way. I always wait for the next elevator to come when someone goes in without a mask, but usually by the time the next elevator arrives, two more unmasked residence have arrived and hopped in with me. It's a nightmare and a hot spot waiting to happen. WEAR A MASK.

It has not been a good experience for me, there is always damage in the building that affects your apartment.
Some neighbors are extremely rude and noisy and nobody solves these types of situations. It is sad because the building has a good location.

One star is even too many.

I have lived here one year and will list the issues I have faced and brought to the attention of management who did not resolve the problems:

One or more of the three elevators is out of service at all times. Two of my neighbors have been trapped for 30 minutes or more. Currently one elevator is indefinitely out of service due to water damage (to be mentioned below).

The building is pet friendly which is great, but many of the residents do not clean up after their dogs - there is always pee in the hallways, the elevators, and the pee/poo in the walkways.

The apartments have infestations of black mold.

The sinks, bathtubs, and toilets are constantly clogged due to bad piping.

There is bad wiring throughout the building which caused the power to go out for hours at a time numerous times in January this year when residents tried to used the floor heaters in the apartments.

The hot water periodically stops working - which also happened for hours at a time, numerous times, during the coldest part of the year.

The fire system was changed after I moved in, the previous system would sound an alarm in the hallway that would notify the residents to evacuate via the emergency stairwells. Since that time another fire system was installed that includes a silent alarm to notify FDNY and an intercom to notify residents on the affected floors what procedures they should take. On April 29th at 6am there was a fire in apartment 29D, the smoke engulfed the entire floor and FDNY was called only after a resident happened to discover the smoke on her way back from an early morning trip to the laundry room. She notified the residents of the 29th floor and neighbors were able to call 911. The family in the affected apartment did not have time to escape because no alarms went off, so they remained asleep during the progression of the fire in their kitchen. They are all in the hospital in critical condition (an 8 months pregnant woman, an elderly man, and three young children).

Subsequent smoke damage (soot, toxic chemicals in the air, smell), water damage, and safety measures were not addressed by management at the Heritage. The apartments on the 29th floor of building 1295 are still in disarray and they advised that the elevator would be in indefinite disrepair due to water damage.

These buildings are not only uncomfortable, they are uninhabitable. The living conditions are dangerous. Management at The Heritage does not address these issues and do not work to resolve them. Residents have notified them of electrical issues and smells of smoke in the months before this possibly deadly fire and in the months prior to the deadly fire in 2015 on the 17th floor. No action was ever taken.

Do not move here.

Literally one of the absolute worst places to live. The elevators are constantly broken, making it impossible to be anywhere on time. The water through out the building is consistently shut off on specific days of the month, usually mid day. Their construction project to "re-vamp" the building starts at 8:30-9 am Mon- Friday so if you like sleeping in on days off forget it.

If I could give this place zero stars I would.
