We had a tranquil experience at the restaurant. The food was authentic indian. We went to celebrate our sisters b'day. Though we went there without any prior reservation, they provided us a scrumptious cake to surprise her. All in all we had a memorable moments there..
Before I start, This is an Indian Cuisine but the main items they have are Rice items and Bread(Naan, Parota, Roti) items. Don't expect to get Idly, Dosai and Puri here. But you can find many intersting items from the menu.
You will be served with Tomato Rasam amd Papadam soon as you have arrived. That Tomato rasam is great.
We had Several varieties of Naan and some starters which are kind of a Yoghurt/Curd fries. That fry is called some sort of Kebab is something new I tried and tasted good. Naans are exceptional but smaller than what I expected with my experience with other places I tried.
The atmosphere is great, they have a large seating area divided into 2 parts. Service is exceptional.
Prices are expensive but you cant expect less from a restaurant thats inside a Hotel.
There will be 10% service tax and 20% government levy tax.
Recommended if you want to celebrate a day to remember with your loved ones.

Food was fresh and tasted great. Highly recommended if you need to try Authentic Indian food in Colombo. The restaurant is very spacious too.
Went for dinner. Had cheese naan, plain paratha ,Thantoori roti with Navaratna dhal. While our experience was pleasant and food was ok. I feel the quality of the breads should have been even better.
Another complaint was that I had to go to the washroom to wash my hands. Which is outside the restaurant bit far. Given the fact Indian food is meant to be enjoyed by hand I wish there should have been a wash basin nearby.
The restaurant is also small that makes it bit noisier .
The overall experience was ok just pointing out shortcomings.

This Indian cuisine restaurant located at Taj Samudra is one of the worst Indian restaurants in Colombo.
To start with the service was pathetic. We were a group of 20 including children. And although we were specific that we would like the children's order brought first it came last.
The waiters seem to be running pillars to post and seem to be lost as if they did not know what to do.
When the food finally came they were unable to serve everyone and several of us did not get what was ordered utter chaos.
Even a simple thing like serving drinking water could not be carried out correctly as a few bottles of water were randomly placed at the table which was not in the right ratio.
When portions of Chicken Tikka were served no one bothers to check if they wanted the onion salad which was part of the dish.
The food (whatever we got) was nothing great.
The average cost per person was LKR 8000 which was exorbitant considering we never ordered anything other than the main course.
Overall a very disappointing experience and I would not like to return again.

1st visit, You can find authentic Indian cuisine here. A fabulous 5 star restaurant with fine dining. Tried several bread options in naan and mutton stuffed kheema. Non veg and veg side dishes are also exceptional and quite mouth watering.
2nd visit , Went on a Sunday around 11:45 and they said it's opening at 12:30. Hence better make a reservation prior.

I do not how people rated it at 4.1 stars. Let me tell you the facts.
I went to Navartna on the 16th May 2021. Price wise its ok for a 5star resturant but the food was terrible. They did not had Dosa ... i cant believe Taj being an indian brand. They hd briyani , to say it was good but there were no proper condiments to eat it such as a spicy gravy and a proper raita.
They offer free rasam which is horrific. Since i have tried rasam from chutneys and grand hotel nuwaraeliya. You can use it to wash your plates from it no worth at all. All in all what i would suggest is that try other resturants such as chutneys at cinnamon you will feel the difference.
