Small tò the point Museum rather easy flow of exhibitions. Worth a visit if you have an afternoon free.

Sehr schön gestaltetes Museum für Islamische Kunst. Gute Einordnung in den historischen Kontext und Infotafeln in englischer Sprache. Besuch ist lohnenswert.

Lovely museum with beautiful calligraphy and the prophet's beard! Also some shadow figures which look as if from Bali. Amazing what art, culture, maps, ceramics were around in 12thC whilst Europe was completely in the dark ages. Nice quiet area amidst the mad bustle outside to have a coffee and see the Blue Mosque.

This note is not really correct. Because it represents, for me, that part of the Palace which no longer representative of something old, restored too modernly. One would think that it is from the last century. Besides that, there are beautiful collections to see there.
The parts I liked the most were the gardens and the Harem, which I didn't regret paying for, but should be part of the package.

Beware - the museum is only partially open .

Misinformation when you buy your ticket

I am sure that the museum is probably good when it is all open. But the ethnographic displays, which are a major part of the museum’s collection are closed for renovation. There is no information to tell you this when you buy the ticket, and no discount for the ticket price, even though, effectively, half the museum is closed. 200 lira is outrageously expensive in these circumstances

This is the world's richest Islamic Art Collection museum. First opened in 1914, it was moved to it's current location, Ibrahim Pasha Palace, in 1983. The palace, one of the most important surviving palace buildings of late 15th century, is a fine example of Ottoman civil architecture, rises above the old Hippodrome of 1520.
While the Hagia Sophia mosque, located near by, is crowded all the time, this museum is quiet, easy to visit. There is a very rich ancient Turkish carpets section also.

Interesting artefacts and history of the Ottoman Empire and Islam. Some kittens in the courtyard as well. The man at the cafe was nice and took care of the cats.

It would’ve been a better experience if the people who were selling the tickets in the booth weren’t so rude and seemed so uninterested.
The two sellers gave me dirty looks as it seemed like I was interrupting their conversation. They made it seem like i was an inconvenience.
