What makes Society truly exceptional is the attentive and knowledgeable service - it's evident that the staff is passionate about the food they serve. Each visit to Society is a culinary adventure, and it's become a regular haunt for me when I'm in Melbourne, promising a consistent and memorable dining journey.

We came here to celebrate our birthdays. We booked a couple weeks in advanced. Our servers were very attentive and made sure that we were well taken cared of.
We started off with 3 drinks, the Lillian $25, Lamington Punch $26 and a Lemon Lime bitter $9.
For food we had:
3 shucked oysters $8.50each - each oyster was very fresh and was smooth going down.
Scallops $38.5 - this entree was delicious, we really liked it, it was fresh, the flavours were refreshing and it was plated beautifully.
Tuna $40.50 - this entree was very fresh, it was really good. The tuna was thinly sliced and there were pieces of caviar throughout it.
Confit potato fondants $19.5 - this was different to what we were expecting, however they were delicious, the coating on the potatoes was good and the sauce on them made a huge difference.
Smoked wagyu striploin $285 - we thought this wasn’t going to be as good as we expected. However, this striploin blew us away, it was soft and tender and cooked to perfection, the onion and mushroom sauce on top made the entire dish so much better. When we eventually come back, we are definitely ordering this again.
As it was our birthdays Society came out with cakes for dessert, it was delicious and we couldn’t be happier.
Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal and we hope to come back again. 🤍

I attended an event at Society and whilst the corporate function rooms are completely devoid of ambiance particularly in contrast to the stellar atmosphere in the dining room the food is beyond sublime. I actually found the front of house staff at reception quite rude but I’m willing to overlook it for how utterly sensational the beef tenderloin was. The fondant potatoes were easily the most perfect rendition of a spud I’ve ever encountered, truly heavenly, though sadly the serving size is small so I recommend ordering multiple. The apple tart wasn’t much of a tart very deconstructed but visually appealing and well executed in flavour. Was definitely thoroughly impressed by the food as you would expect at that lofty price point. Would be interested in experiencing the weekend lunch to try (all of) the dessert cart offering

Dined for lunch, food was mostly excellent (although the potato with creme fraiche & caviar could have been more inspired, and the lobster in the croquettes was overpowered by the leek and accompanying sauce). The desserts trolley was a highlight. Service was nice although seemed quite disjointed with multiple different wait staff (in addition to the Sommelier) attending to our meal. Booth seating far superior to the smaller tables if dining as a couple and would suggest you request. 4.5/5
Melbourne is a tough place to wow for food. Yes - it's a classy place, service was great - however, it's not my scene. I was lucky and this was a corporate funded lunch.

Course 1 - not to my liking. In fact I don't think I finished it. Looked raw to me (and perhaps that's my ignorance of not knowing what good food is).

Course 3 - dessert was ok. I felt like this was just a waffle with vanilla ice-cream.

The star was Course 2 - the main - the beef tenderloin was a delight. My preference is generally well done but on this occasion I think it was a rare / medium rare.

There was a fancy name given to the roast potatoes - to wit I'm like "that's just roast potatoes mate". Places like this are fine to visit on occasion though I'd go to other places for a regular meal (and given its melbourne - plenty of great eats at a reasonable price).

Again - a special mention to the wait staff - they were great and made the 3 course experience seamless.

I had high hopes after reading positive reviews.

We opted for the 2-course lunch priced at 77pp. Unfortunately, the appetizer left much to be desired. The carrots from the fresh veggie plate served on ice had some dirt on the roots.

The Sugar Loaf Cabbage accompanying the red snapper main was quite overcooked and burnt.

Service was decent, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but, regrettably, the food didn't meet our expectations this time.

Obviously a high end restaurant with the price tag but not that much convincing for the second or third visit. The menu was not wow and the food was not that delicious. The staff were great and the atmosphere was good. The drink menu was fine and I liked their Martini selections. Overall for a city like Melbourne with too many great restaurant choices, Society won't have anything to compete.
