What an experience I had at this restaurant! I wouldn’t usually go for this type of French restaurant but my friend was very excited to try this highly regarded spot for a long time. I had pigs feet croquets for starter - delicious to my surprise! And the nicest beef cheek dish I’ve ever had for main. For dessert I got a chocolate ganache and unfortunately I could not finish it as I was incredibly full, but the funny thing about this restaurant is that they will be offended and will not take your plate away until you have cleared that plate! I had to play a little trick and hide the remaining ganache with my spoon, but when the server took my plate he quickly realised I hadn’t finished it and gave me very stern eyes!! I still don’t know whether it was sarcasm or not!! Nonetheless, I enjoyed my evening there and would recommend the experience to anyone willing to step out of their comfort zone a little with food because they will be pleasantly surprised!

French cuisine at its best and freshest--this restaurant will make you weep with joy and reconcile you with life and humanity. And the wines... You'll end up on your knees with gratefulness.

Awful food, the menu is uninspiring.
We ordered a ceviche and the dish was mostly mangoes with limited fish.

The fries were disgusting and the wine list poor

Food (veal and duck) was enjoyable paired with good wine recommendation. Called a few days in advance of dinner and was told one could only make reservations on the day of eating. Perseverance helps. Service was positive.

Fantastic place, cute little bistro serving pretty classic but very well executed dishes. The wine list is amazing and you have a dozen of excellent natural wines by the glass with great variety on offer. Can’t wait to go back again!

As an Englishman, walking into La Baratin is what one expects from Paris. Greeted with immediate ambivalence, you are ushered into mahogany seats as the bad cop bar tender tutters at your linguistic impotence and the good cop waiter soothes you, offering cute descriptions of the illegible chalk board menu. The food itself is a delicious blend of old and new French cuisine. Where Bordeaux flows as freely as a magnum of Sardinian blanc. Starters (14 euro approx) were slimy and satisfying - carpaccio oysters brought alive by flakes of coriander, tartare of fish with nutty root veg. Mains were bold (24-32 Euro), buttery staples of sweetbreads and lamb - no frills with the garnish. It’s all about the main event. Desert was chocolate mousse, dark silky and moorish and a pear sponge, unctuous and caramelised. A place well worth the trip.
