Nice place! Must visit!
Best shot of the Vatican best far away view is St. Peter’s basilica. Not overly crowded and if you wait just a few moments the crowd and traffic dies down enough to see a lot. The patient traveler will be rewarded here for sure! Also just ignore all sales people in this area, they’ve got nothing of value to offer
An amazing view point of St Peters Basilica. You have to wait for the right moment without cars or people but you can get a great shot.
Piazza Pia gives Lovely view of the Vatican City in the front and Castel Sant Angelo at the back. View throughout the day is stunning but evening views are bit special. Taxi stand is at this point only in case you want to catch taxi after Vatican tour. If you are coming to Vatican City by Taxi, you will be dropped here.

A great view of the Piazza Pia can also be found at the top of Castel Sant’Angelo. The Castle offers stunning panoramic views of Rome as well
