Much quieter than the grouse grind but a bit shorter. Great views nearby the lake and not to far to eagle bluffs with more great views.

Wonderful lake for summer swimming. A 45-50 minute hike up from the Cypress Mountain parking lot. Steep and rocky but the view and lake more than justify the effort.

A wide lake. Dogs can swim. Very cool.

Jan 22, 2023. Hard hike without any lookout, a kind of boring loop for me

The hike was pretty easy and not too hard! Once we got up, the view was so nice and spectacular! I would definitely come here again!

The view is spectacular, however the lake was a disappointment because someone left their cooler with food on top and let it rot, creating enormous flies that bit me and a persistent rotting smell. The hike is difficult and the lake is such a reward but lets not litter or leave garbage behind, if you could drag a cooler up you should take it with you so others can enjoy a beautiful lake at the end of the hike.

Great hike up Black Mountain through the Cypress BAC (Backcountry Access Corridor). Pick up your backcountry pass to explore Black Mountain, Yew Lake, Bowen Lookout and beyond. Black Mountain is a well marked 7k loop up around and back down.
