Not sure why so low reviews on google but I spent nearly 2 weeks at Middlemore hospital when my partner delivered a baby. Baby was weak so had to take to kidz first hospital. Best care anybody could ever have. Plus great care for new mumm. Thank you so much Doctors & Nurses, doing God's work. God bless you guys!!
The only thing I could recommend if male partner can stay during night at maternity ward after birth. I know it is a rule, no male can stay during night. But like us, I was the only support person looking after new mumm. Had to come back home during night while mother with C sectiok operation had to look after baby all by her self!!😔😔

My sister Jo and I have been very grateful to Gail and her staff for making our sister's move to Ellerslie Gardens such a great experience. Thanks for your help and the amazing friendly staff who make this such a happy community to be a part of👌🙏

I recently spent 4 days in PSU after hand surgery. I can't praise the staff enough. The nurses were professional, friendly, caring and attentive. Doctors from Plastics were informative and watchful. Thank you to everyone.
Only criticism visiting hours end at 8pm, but many visitors were still arriving/staying much later! Noisy. Please throw them out at 8pm.

Our 4 month old had his cleft surgery. We've been looked after so well by the staff in the Kidz First ward. Incredible specialists across the range. The facilities are fairly aged however maintained reasonably and generous: we were given a private room with an ensuite toilet, TV, and bed. Decent food options within the building.

I think there is just the scam going on in the name of medical system. We are here with a baby who is 10 months old and we are waiting here in the room after the nurse checkup and we are told there is no doctor in the hospital so waiting hours is at least 4 hours because they will come up in the morning. Seriously? No doctors available and why it is called as emergency department and no doctor available for the kids. I feel sorry for 4 other families waiting for the doctors like us. Its just people giggling here and there in the hospital on the tax payers money. I think there is no1 doing any check about the medical system. There were times when everyone respected medical system, but now they have learned to muck around and closed their eyes on suffering people.
Still waiting for the doctor. They should remove the term emergency from them. If they don’t have resources to heal people.

Thank you for the nurse who assist us . And also for DR. Lorraine Forbes , thank you so much for your kindness , ❤️

Rang middlemore only to get told my husband wasn't on the records nor did he come in? Basically she ended my call.
I rang back soon after asking if the ambulance had any records as I watch my husband get in an ambulance last night and before his phone went flat I knew he was being treated in hospital. This receptionist then made some poor excuses like I don't know what happened but he's in ward.......
Her attitude and mannerisms are poor.
The receptionist on right now is Rude and incompetent

Excellent staff at emergency the night I was brought in. Sunday 14th July 2024. I was in so much pain and every single person I came across was just amazing. From the initial assessing nurse to the two doctors who saw me moments later in ED worked so promptly after tests and bloods taken. I was sent to surgical assessment where I was so well taken care of, the nurses were kind and compassionate. They offered me pain relief to help me get some rest whilst awaiting for surgical doctors to come check on me.
Surgical doctors were thorough with explaining procedures. Down to earth incredibly considerate of how I was feeling. When I was later wheeled to a ward, an awesome orderly worker eased my mind off the fear of what is before me. I felt so comfortable in the Gynaecare Unit.. I am well looked after here. The nurses are second to none. They are generous with time and have built rapport easily with them.
My surgery team were fantastic. I had a Fijian brother as a nurse who was able to help me stop the water works as he explained what was to occur. He let in a few funny jokes which helped me push those fears further away. Something about anesthetic that really gets the nerves twisted. Lol. The team were awesome. I was wheeled in 8.30am and woke up 10.30am. Drugged and unable to speak but felt no pain. I am so grateful for everyone in that surgery room. Thank you so much. This trip to the hospital has indeed opened my eyes to what is important. Thank you heroes!
Back now in my awesome ward. The nurses continue to check up regularly. So kind they even allowed me to wait for my daughter who delivered a charger for me. Of all hospitals I've ever been in... Middlemore Hospital staff are the best. They do their jobs well, they are proud of their professions & I believe their actions speak volumes for the city they serve! Proud to be a South Aucklander today. 😊😊

Easy parking much better than Middle more hospital

So, the nurses here are amazing and do their jobs with professionalism and respect for their patients. I don't know how they keep it up in that place. But heartfelt thank you! The place is dirty and the staff are all clearly overworked. They need funding for more staff. Cleaners, admin, more nurses and doctors. This is meant to be one of main hospitals in NZ. Our healthcare is a joke.

I live at Ellerslie Garden Lifecare.

My husband went to Botany SuperClinic Public Hospital in November 2023.
There were at least 40 patients waiting in the clinic. Luckily, as my husband is a chronic asthmatic who suffered from short of breath, he didn’t need to wait for a long time.
Staff there are very nice and helpful. If you are not feeling well, let’s go there and get appropriate medical treatment.

Middlemore Hospital is the closest hospital to our neighbourhood.
As my husband always says to me, Middlemore Hospital was always named as “Muddlemore Hospital”. That means lots of people have been complaining about the unhygienic conditions, poor services, extremely long waiting hours, etc etc.
After reading so many google reviews, I have decided to write a fair and balanced review so that people can get a clearer picture about Middlemore Hospital. Then they can decide whether they still want to get medical care or advice from the medical staff there or not.
In November 2023, my husband went to Middlemore Hospital late at night. He suffered from serious pneumonia and was referred to Middlemore Hospital by a very good lady Korean doctor at East Care Urgent Care, A&E Department.
Upon arrival, as expected, there were at least 30 to 40 patients waiting at the Emergency Ward of the hospital and at least 10 patients were queuing up for registration at the front counter. As my husband couldn’t walk properly due to short of breath, a very young male staff who has just come from Portugal to work here in New Zealand arranged a wheelchair for my husband. At the meantime, I had to help him with registration procedures etc etc.
As my husband’s oxygen level was so low that he should be treated urgently, a lady nurse pushed his wheelchair to Harley Gray Building. We waited for around 90 minutes and then two lady nurses prepared a hospital bed for him. The nurses said that there’s a shortage of beds due to the peak of COVID and pneumonia at that time. A very young male doctor came and did medical check up for my husband and advised us that my husband had to transfer to the Scott Building immediately.
After waiting for around 4 hours, my husband was taken to Ward 7 on the 3rd floor of Scott Building. Thereafter, he stayed at the hospital for 4 days. My husband was very delighted about the great medical services provided by Dr. Rosie Isaacs and Dr. Stephanie Tan. Not only were these lady doctors professional, but also they were so patient and cared for my husband’s asthmatic conditions.
As for the three meals provided by the hospital, my husband was satisfied with the quality of food. As he is a vegetarian, he still could enjoy great food like sandwiches, macaroni and cheese, etc. He was also very happy about having a cup of hot coffee and tea every day.
On the day that my husband was discharged from the hospital, a very friendly and helpful male staff pushed my husband’s wheelchair all the way from Scott Building to the car park near Emergency Department of the hospital.
On the way home, my husband shared his experience about his stay at Middlemore Hospital with me. He said that despite so many bad experiences and reviews on Google, he could still experience a very pleasant and professional medical treatment from the lady doctors, lady nurses and the male staff who helped him at the check out department of the hospital.
On top of that, my husband was so surprised that he was given a lovely birthday gift on the car on the way back home. Upon his arrival at home, he was so excited to see the cute decorations for his birthday at our front lawn.
All in all, my husband would like to thank all the medical staff who took care of him very well during his stay at Middlemore Hospital. He never calls it Myddlemore Hospital anymore.
We sincerely hope that whatever medical treatments you are going to have at Middlemore Hospital, you will get even better experiences than my husband.

My experience with Ellerslie Gardens has been most unfortunate. My father was assessed as requiring rest home care and after an extensive search, I narrowed it down to Ellerslie Gardens and one other facility. Knowing my father is keen to remain relatively self sufficient and is likely going to keep to himself for some time once moving into a home, I knew a larger room was going to be important to him. The manager of the facility showed us such a room at Ellerslie Gardens and my Dad was immediately sold on it. I confirmed as much in writing to the manager on the very same day he saw it, requesting confirmation of a move in date having been informed that it was available. 4 follow up emails and 3 weeks later and no response. My sister phoned to manager to see what was going on and she was informed that the room was no longer available and was also only for a hospital level of care. All prior written correspondence contradicts this completely, and whilst we feel that this ultimately is a bullet dodged, we believe it's important that anyone interested in considering this rest home make sure they're not having their time wasted. 3 site visits and 5 weeks we'll never get back and now we're back at square one. I expect the manager will no doubt respond to this review with misinformation, which would be ironically true to form unfortunately. Save yourself the hassle and avoid.

Is there a new reception team at Manurewa Medical? Feels like night and day, so friendly on the phone.
Deleted old 1 star review from 2 years ago.
Now the whole operation of admin / nurses / doctors are operating as a 5 star team.

Medical centre opens at 8:30 on Saturdays. We arrived at 8:31 and was turned away as the receptionist said that they have reached the walk-in numbers for the day. Really???? There were only two other people in the clinic. Where are sick people supose to go?????

What's happening to Manurewa Medical Centre? Cant get an appointment and receptionist will just say " we are fully book, call us tomorrow morning for walk in at 0800 ". The receptionist also mentioned they are fully booked at around 0815 when I phoned them that day.
I have been their client for 12 years and never did I expect that their service is going down the drain. Are they short of GP's?

Absolutely pathetic customer service I have ever seen. Receptionists are very rude. Everytime you give them a call They have only one answer no appointnents available for whole week. Will not recommend to anyone.

I spent 2 years in pain suffering with a slipped disc at my old clinic because they didn't bother to actually listen. from my first appt here I was listened to and had immediate action taken to fix my issues. I've seen 4 different doctors here and they all actually listen to you. I don't understand the low ratings they have- yes it can be hard to get an appointment but they also have walk in clinic.

This place is so bad, they will tell you that they’ve sent out a prescription and then later on when you contact them say that they haven’t done it and won’t do it. If you could I would suggest going to anywhere else than here because everyone who works here (other than some of the very good nurses) are horrible to talk to and will not help you in any way

Worst family medical clinic you can get enrolled in. Been a memeber for years, but finally had enough.
Receptionists think they are the doctors and members need atleast 2 weeks advance booking and babies are never prioritized. Instead, they start giving you suggestions where to go.
They deserve a 0 rating, sadly it's not available.
Happy to move away from this medical center.

Good drs at this centre but you can NEVER get an appointment. Just called for my little boy and told "sorry nothing for over a week". Most receptionist are rude and completely unempathetic. Really need more drs here. It's impossible to plan when your child is sick. Really get sick of being told there's no appointments available. Huge let down! Going to find a new centre

Came here to get my wound on my foot looked at which I cut with glass (clearly needed stitches) got there and was seen 6 hours later was then told xray had closed to they couldn’t stitch it then they said come back tomorrow so I did, they then said it’s too late to stitch as the skin was dead so they just cleaned it and bandaged it and called it a day, had about 4 check ups for cleans, I was concerned about the black skin and how it wasn’t healing at all even after a week later, so got seen by a doctor he numbed it cleaned it PROPERLY and stitched it, he said he had no idea why no one stitched it earlier the skin was still fine to stitch and if i left it abit later we couldn’t fix it. Got told by multiple different nurses that it was fine and no stitches needed. It was literally a deep open wound and they just slapped a plaster on it. Pretty disgusting and makes me think how many other people this has happened too. Doctor said this is easily infected and is very serious that it wasn’t taken care of. 6 stitches over a week later and I am not going back. Disgusting (don’t care if it’s busy, take care of your patients mate) oh and to add no crutches either! They just expected me to hop around, so I went to my gp where they actually look after you and got some. Bs

Worse experience ever. Don’t go there unless you want to wait for 3 hours 😡. Doesn’t matter how bad your pain is, you just need to wait. They don’t care. Staff is really rude.

The clinic is loacted inside Eastcare, just turn left instead of right.
It was quite easy when seeing a specialist. Checked into the front desk and then was prepped before seing the specialist. Didn't take too long after the scheduled time.

Went in to the clinic on Saturday, my personal experience was great! The nurse I initially saw was very empathetic to my situation and seemed keen to help me in any way she could, she was friendly and we shared a laugh or two while she wrote down my symptoms and a bit of my medical history. She was very thorough with the questions she asked and took the time to really listen to and understand my responses. Then it was back to the waiting room for a little while. The next lady I saw was a Nurse Practitioner. She expressed concern at my symptoms and carried out further examinations until she was happy she had isolated the issue. I was prescribed medication and told she would be in touch regarding any further results. I felt assured that everything had been thoroughly assessed and went home feeling much more relaxed.

I recently ruptured my Achilles at netball and we went straight to A&E because our doctors aren't open on the weekend. It's an ACC injury and yet I was charged $100 on my first appt (without the crutches which we borrowed) and today (2 weeks later) I was asked to go back for a fracture clinic and was charged another $119. This is so unreasonable, I rang the local east tamaki healthcare and they don't charge even casual patients as it is covered under ACC. While the service was awesome, how is an organisation able to charge $119 for the same services I can get for free elsewhere. This is so unreasonable and for this reason alone I wouldn't recommend you go here for any treatment, even if it is an emergency. Also, the wait on my first visit was 2.5 hours, I probably would've been better off going to the hospital.

I appreciate the positive response from your side when I rang the office to ask for information about my Father Teurukura Meteka wellbeing. Thank you. Regards Ana

Not happy about the outcome of yesterday's consultation with a Doctor from this clinic his attitude was a sour point and to be refused treatment was definitely a time waster. The previous Doctor that attended my Granddaughter for an ingrown toenail was so good and his Attitude oozed with confidence . Definitely go back there, it takes one to spoil it for the others.

My mother received the best and most compassionate care at Ellerslie Gardens after many unhappy years at an expensive rest home. She was treated with respect, affection and despite me living out of Auckland I was always kept fully informed of her care. Ellerslie Gardens are an incredibly caring team lead by the amazing Patricia Stubbs. Thank you all for giving mum the happiest and most peaceful last three years of her life.

I visit my partner's aunt, a happy resident of the rest home. An issue that comes to mind is underwear goes missing when sent to be laundered. A small price to pay for what is an excellent facility. Our aunt complained that her hair was not cut to her liking. A phone call to a helpful staff member and a day or two later we had a call from our aunt about her nice new hair do. Fantastic.

I have found Ellerslie Gardens Management and Staff to be absolutely fantastic, the resident they are looking after can be extremely frustrating and as far as I am concerned they are angels in the way they deal with resident

Really lovely atomsphere, my mum is really well taken care of, it's not an easy task looking after the elderly, and it's great to see the effort and care that the staff puts in. The hospital changed management 6 months ago, at first I was feeling a little uneasy about this change but the new owners are fantastic and they have fixed and tidied the place up to make it more comfortable to live in!

Awesome staff! Good food for residents.

Poor on patients confidentiality... nurses talk about everything to other people. Nurses can do some training over again they need it big time
