Drank in this pub since 76, .....
Seen Landlords come and go.
Some were good and
Some were bad,
But Donna has a glow.

The decor has remained unchanged,......
A proper British pub,
And if your peckish, take a stab, enjoy the tasty grub.
The clientele is nicely mixed, coach station round the bend,
They come and go for Bristol's sights,
To catch the latest trend.
Most are friendly,
Some are shy, ...
We welcome one and all,
They soon relax,
Enjoy their time,
Sat comfy on a stool.

The cultured custom makes good sense,
They've travelled from afar,
But here's the rub,
They all come back,
To our delightful bar.

The banter is a joy to share,
The windups thick and thin,
Delivered with such grace and style, and sure to make you grin.

The locals are a funny bunch, mindful of their pelvis,....
They dance so bad but not their fault, for someone's playing Elvis.
Their collars raised and sideburns shown, some even sport a quiff.
I educate them straight away, we all know there's one "Cliff" !!!

So when in town don't pass us by, pop in and say hello,
But check the time for your next coach,
Cus you won't want to go !!!!

Lovely old pub with a good selection of keg and cask. The decor and fittings are worth the visit.
Came to The White Harte with a group of 15 or so. Booked tables after hearing reviews about great food and service. One of the tables for our group was booked on the opposite side of the room and staff also forced another group of people who they failed to reserve a table for onto our parties table. Not great but not the end of the world. Unfortunately the service we received from then on was horrendous. Food took over 1 hour to come out and most of it had been sat on the hot plate getting burnt and overcooked, meanwhile pizzas came out burnt to a crisp time and time again and even a salad took over an hour and a half to arrive to our table. Half of our group ended up refunding the food because we had waited over two hours. Not enough staff on the bar, not enough staff in the kitchen. No alcohol behind the bar either as several of our party wanted cocktails but we were told they had no tequila among other things. Management need to take a long hard look at themselves and employ more staff to take the heat off the existing ones so some semblance of service can be provided. Overall a bit of a shocker. Wouldn’t recommend.
Booked a table of 16, arrived and placed orders etc on the app. After 1 hour the first pizza came out burnt, waited an hour and a half total for all the food, various bits being sent back due to being inedible/burnt. Only 1 chef on at 7pm on Saturday is laughable. No offer of discount or refunds for anything, didn't push the issue as they were rammed and the manager was under enough stress as it was. Just a terrible experience due to lack of staff.

Four of us ate at The Bird this evening. The pub has been modernised and now has a pleasant contemporary feel.
We all had different main courses, each of us was pleased with our food. I had the Somerset Pork which was excellent. Various beers / soft drinks and coffees were consumed, all of them were appreciated. There was a choice of desserts. We all enjoyed ours.
The service was polite, friendly and efficient.

Super friendly and no frills local pub serving a wide range of drinks, Butcombe and Thatchers particularly good. Open fires in each of the rooms, lovely welcoming staff and plenty of seating outside to catch the sun and enjoy the views over the valley towards the sea. Think there’s roast available on a Sunday. Small car park to the side, but it’s a lovely stomp from Ashton Court or up the hill from the centre of Long Ashton. Go if you’re looking for a quiet traditional pub to hang out with friends. Perfect place to stop if you’re out biking too.

I sat at outside part which is next to the footpath. A perfect place in a sunny day, because no building is blocking the sun rays.
I had a cold beer and breaded cauliflower wings which were tasty.

Had the Sunday menu, a roast. I had belly pork which was tender but not crispy. My friend had chicken which was breast, didn't look really succulent, but looked good. Fairly friendly service. A woman was breast feeding and I had a 10 year old, so reasonably child friendly. Child menu available.
Nice pub serving good beers, however sadly the food was really really poor, particuarly so for the price. I had the chicken burger at £14.50 which had a tiny peice of chicken ( i would have guessed 1/4 of a normal chicken breast) which was dry and tough. The wedges were over cooked, but at the same time not at all crispy. It was a shame, as we liked the pub generally... just dont go for the food unless they sort out their kitchen. Like others have said, despite barely eating our food, our table was cleared without asking how our food was.

Food was very poor. Chips were undercooked to the point of being solid and the chicken burger was burnt (at least i knew it was cooked). Starter of Calamari was dripping in oil. Simply bad. Beer was good and the staff were solid. Nice crowd, but £20 on food each when we left 90% of it. Won't be eating there again.

Amazing little gem of a pub situated on Saint Michael's Hill Bristol. Friendly staff greet you as you walk in the door... promt service, very busy on match days, lovely secret garden with heaters for the chilly weather we've had, food is delicious and well presented, reasonable prices of beverages/food, great play list of music... overall a fantastic pub with a great atmosphere... is definitely worth a visit.

Nice experience, atmosphere and great food. The 6 of us had a starter, main and desert and we thought it was lovely. I didn’t give a 5 star as they forgot one of our starters but it didn’t bother us as we shared our starters and they were plentiful. Good service overall and they couldn’t have done enough for us. We had the iron steak and I can honestly say that it was one of the best meals I've ever had, the chef came out to check on us to see how thing were tasting, to be honest I like that he took the time to come and see us, I would 100% recommend the Bird in hand for the food and the views are fantastic to match, keep up the great work! We will a million percent be coming back again soon !
Love the atmosphere and environment here, especially on a Friday night as they host karaoke sessions within the bar. Drinks are decent and definitely a student friendly bar.

Nice local pub away from the busy streets. Good selection of beer and snacks. Unfortunalty not able to eat as no chef, but nice place for a quiet pint.
Decent enough pub. Tidy with a decent bit of character. Student vibe, being next to the university, especially during quieter nights or events. Nice pints. Good range of beers, lagers, and ciders. Nicely poured Guinness. Live sports. Food menu. Reasonably priced for Town/Park St.
Lovely pub with good prices. English feeling and nice pepole behind the bar.

Lovely pub, decent food and service was great. Only small downside was the lack of choice on the deserts for adults and kids. Adults had a choice of two and kids had only icecream. Because everything else was so amazing that part was disappointing. Thank you for a lovely Sunday lunch Cambridge Arms 😊
One of my favourite pubs in Bristol, great central location and good selection of drinks. If you like to watch sports with friends or on your own this is a great spot. They have also pool table and lots of space for sitting and enjoying lovely cold pint of beer.

Food (meaning beer) is great and we were glad to support a pub that has real cask ales. Bartender was courteous but completely disinterested. Funkiest ladies room I've ever seen.
What a fab little find. First visit to this area and came across this pub and absolutely loved it. Cosy inside and welcoming staff who let us sample the cider before buying and a fantastic beer garden with heaters that meant you could sit outside even in January. Will definitely be back next time I visit Bristol.

Quite possibly the worst pub meal I have ever experienced.
Six of us arrived at 1 pm to an almost empty pub and ordered lunch. It took over three quarters of an hour to arrive despite very few other dinners.
What did arrive was an abomination! Two of our group had fish and chips, the consensual opinion was that it had been cooked yesterday and then reheated. Dry and tasteless.
The burgers were so over cooked it took a pint of beer to wash them down. The "garnish" in one burger included a thick slice of onion with its root still firmly in place. If a chef can't even be bothered to slice his vegetables I would suggest he should stay at home.
The staff were completely disinterested in being at work and even less interested in their customers. They gave no explanation of why the food took so long to arrive and didn't, at any point, ask us how the food was. Had we not waited so long, and therefore been extremely hungry, we would have sent the whole lot back. I now regret not having done so.
On asking for the bill there was, the now familiar, lack of interest in our thoughts about what we had just been served. I questioned the person accepting my money as to whether he was going to bother to ask. He responded, blankly, asking "how was it"? I described how awful the whole experience had been. Another blank look. No apology, no explanation, no offer of a discount, no nothing.
If you are considering going to this pub to eat, don't. The Shakespear or the Port of Call are close by and consistently do much better food.
I will not be returning despite this being my "local". Sad, it used to be a very good pub.

Nice pub with good vibe and excellent outdoor area. Staff are friendly. Decor could do with some updating, and the bathrooms are not the best. You can have a very fun night here, if you don't mind places a bit rough and ready.
You have to talk to them to order but it was typical nice sunday's roast and a lovely pub
Popular student pub. Went there for wing Wednesdays. Both the cauliflower and chicken wings were excellent and great value at 40p each. Ran out quite quickly so get there early, and be prepared for a lot of student clubs! Nice friendly staff and good selection of on tap beers. Live football showing on the tv

The owner/landlord/whatever told our large group to "buy a drink or [f] off" calling us all freeloaders despite having arrived 2 minutes beforehand and one person having bought a drink and the majority of us planning to buy a drink anyway while we waited for our bus. There was no polite interaction at all, he just immediately started being on the offensive and told us all to leave with some colourful language thrown in, and so we all left on the spot without buying any of the drinks we went in there to buy. Most of the other critical reviews about this pub seem to be in roughly the same vein so I doubt anything constructive will happen as a result of this review but the only thing I can say is don't go to this pub if you want any kind of good atmosphere, I don't think I could recommend a place less. He made us all feel unsafe and uncomfortable despite being there for less than 5 minutes. I imagine this is a fairly common occurrence as his mates and the staff just sat there either doing nothing or agreeing while he spoke. Go to the Bay Horse instead if you value your experience at a pub.

Really cute quaint little pub dating back to the early 1800's. Traditional inside and serving great cider on tap and an amazing pint of Guinness! Staff are so friendly and welcoming, you need to be quick to get a table as it's pretty busy, they also have a gorgeous garden out the back with heating lamps - perfect for cold evenings like this. Really nice atmosphere, definitely recommend it to anyone staying around the Clifton area.

Came to this pub after running a half marathon up and down the railway path. I live in Bath and this was my first time in Saltford. I came at 1:15pm on a Sunday, forgetting how popular Sunday lunches are in England. The owner was able to offer me a small table for 1 which did me fine. The staff were attentive and friendly, prices were incredible (compared to Bath anyway!). I had two pints and the lamb shank roast dinner for £30. The dinner was ready quickly, the staff didn’t mind I was in running gear, felt welcomed and enjoyed the meal immensely. I couldn’t recommend the pub more, I’ll for sure be back.

Robin Hood - Is a beautiful Grade II listed pub located up the notorious St Michael’s Hill. The best thing about the Robin Hood and it is what you’re looking for in any great pub is the atmosphere which is spot on. You can really feel a good aura within the walls of this boozer and I feel it must be down to a pub being on this site for nearly 200 years - the sherbert sipping spirits are sending good vibes.

With that I was shocked to see it has recently been put up for sale. Have any of the Bristol crew got any intel on what’s occurring?

Imagine you’re strolling down Victoria Street in Bristol and you see the celebration cake centre you pop in have a browse and you treat yourself to a slice, then you build up a thirst for a cold pint to wash it down. Well look no further than 2 yards away as you have the Kings Head next door, which is a delightful boozer; actually it’s encroaching into the top draw arena!!

Brilliant atmosphere. Traditional but quirky pub, with loads of interesting decor.

We visited on a Friday evening so it was very loud and busy, but we did manage to find a table for 2 with no trouble.

Pints were around £5.40 which for us is a lot of money, so we only stayed for 1 pint.

Was really excited to get a roast here with the reviews but the beef was literally the driest, blandest, hardest, most overcooked clunk of meat ever. Quite disappointed but my friend said her pork belly was really good. Everything else was nice, with large portions. Just the beef was a real let down and I was excited for it.

Called into this pub for a pre-match drink with my son and grandson. As you'd expect it was busy and quite noisy. Supposed to be home fans only but I saw some Burnley shirts but the fans were good. Drinks were good as were the prices. The place was as you would imagine, good for footy fans but not to take the M-I-L to. A mans pub. But on a non footy day, it could be different.

Worth the climb up St. Michael's Hill and possibly one of the best pub meals I've had in a long while. I was told this place is jammed when school is in session, but on a sunny August evening it was a delight. We enjoyed smoked mackerel nicoise salad, housemade fish pie and a very respectable sticky toffee pudding. The warren of cozy rooms inside make me want to come back in cooler temps.

Great experience at the quiet end avoiding the football. Good selection of beers etc, even though the current climate meant a reduced selection

Friendly staff and the highlight was the vegan Japanese food by Tsukemono

Will definitely be returning

Fabulous views, friendly staff, great local ales and ciders, lots of local history - this is a proper pub in the best sense! Definitely worth a visit!

Great public house. Conveniently located in the City Centre. A warm welcome from the staff and very competitive prices on their fantastic selection of drinks. Makers Mark was less than half the price of the hotel I was staying at. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic pub. It is under sad circumstances that I discovered this pub - visiting my mother-in-law at the hospital accross the road - but it's a delight. Three very different rooms, all showing sport. On the day I visited they managed to show cricket, football, rugby, and keep everybody happy. The service is quick and friendly and the food was excellent.

Another superb visit. I can now confirm the food was very, very good. Dogs also welcome and a lovely couple of pints of hophead. Excellent value.

Cannot comment on food but a great selection of ales. Lovely staff and very child friendly. Have a large grassed garden. Been over 15 years since last visit, will be going again very soon. Dogs allowed on a lead.
Such a brilliant neighbourhood pub. The Sherwood Forest theme is a hit, as are the rotating taps of some of Bristol's best craft beer. Weekly events, a Dr Who themed dumbwaiter, friendly staff and a vibrant, casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Relaxed atmosphere and relaxed staff. Pizza was decent - this is not just a pub that sells food, I would eat this pizza again. Music was jovial but that could be who ever was on shift

Traveled up from Devon to see a band. They were good. The bar staff were good and friendly. Unfortunately a local drunk took a disliking to us and told us to leave! So we did, leaving just 2 people watching a band.
