Just wanted to say how impressed our group was with the Sunday Roast, it was so tasty - every single element! Really impressed. Thanks to the chef and the great service.

We had a last minute birthday booking in a Sunday for 12 and the staff was so lovely and helpful with us all. They had no problem in storing our cake or giving us cutlery and plates when it was time to slice it. They even put candles on and sang happy birthday for our birthday boy. Very lovely. Food is nice on a Sunday. It isn’t the cheapest out there and I don’t think the quality of the food meets the price you pay, but it’s quite full filling if you get the meat option. As a Vegetarian, I struggled with their vegetarian option in the roast menu as there’s only one option and it’s not varied enough. No vegan option for roast either unfortunately. Luckily, when I asked to make some amendments to the vegetarian option the chef and the staff were very available, I really appreciated that. The place looks lovely and has a really nice atmosphere.

This is fast becoming my favourite roast in Bristol, everyone gets a yorkie and all the trimmings. Really friendly and lively atmosphere, can get busy on a Sunday so I recommend booking.

We were greeted by a lovely security guard who helped us find a seat. The atmosphere at night was lovely but only gets 4 out of 5 stars due to an untasteful amount of fairy lights. The biggest issue was the chocolate brownie dessert. It was in fact not a brownie but a chocolate cake, which was incredibly dry and served without sauce. I expected more for £7.50. Never again.

Food was OK, choice limited, but general ambiance and smoking in the only eating area, which is out-doors, was very off-putting. The pub itself inside was extremely dingy. (Think Harry Potter and Hogs Head in Hogsmead) Didn't risk the toilets.

Second time here within a week. The most amazing cocktails, Friendly staff and the food was outstanding. The atmosphere is brilliant. Absolutely a must visit if you’re ever in Bristol.
Great pub with good vibes and amazing food. I had a Sunday Roast there today and it was one of the best roasts I’ve had in Bristol! Very big portions and delicious food. I highly recommend trying it out. Staff was lovely. Would 100% recommend.
We went on a Thursday night a group of friends and I to catch up and we were surprised with a very fun bingo-songs night! We order some food although we didn't expect they were all going to be burgers... we misread I guess, they were nice and tasty tho. Super friendly and fun staff, for us is always a come-back place.

Food was good. It's pretty cramped and tight inside there's not much space. As long as you don't mind it's decent.
We booked a 2.30 table for Sunday lunch and waited until 3.30 to get our food. This wouldn't have been a problem if the music hadn't been too loud to have a conversation.
The walnut roast was okay, pleasant enough but not noticeably nutty. The rest of the plate was loaded with tired food that looked as if it had been waiting a long time.... for example there was a Yorkshire pudding that was dark brown and very chewy.
Its a shame, because the staff were very pleasant, but I will not be eating there in Sunday again.

A wonderful community pub with a nice selection of beers, and excellent Sunday roast. Would happily make this my local if I lived nearby.

Staying within 10 minutes walk to this venue and knowing of their listing in the Camra Beer Guide, I made a beeline for this cosy community pub, literally within 5 minutes walk of Cabot Circus, and was not disappointed.

The beer on cask was excellent and included choices from Plain Ales, Arbor, Bristol Beer Factory and Purity - largely on the lighter side (pale ales and IPA). There are also 3/4 keg lines in addition to the standard choices of lager and a beer fridge. The cask beers I tasted were all in excellent condition and at a good temperature.

The atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon was relaxed, with a few regulars at the bar; although the bar staff were busy as there was a birthday party in the outside area out the back. Food on Saturdays consists of Sliders n Sides, and looked good from what I saw, but I was hankering after one of their talked about Sunday roasts and so I booked a table (recommended for Sunday lunch as it got quite busy around 2pm) and came back.

The small looking kitchen is effectively taken over by other businesses- Sunday roasts were provided by All The Trimmings. I had slow cooked pork belly with a side of Cauliflower Cheese and apple sauce: it was one of the very best roasts I’ve had. Everything was well cooked, the pork belly was soft and tender and flavoursome as was the crackling. Lovely Yorkshire, a good portion of greens and superbly cooked roasties. The cauliflower cheese side is for 2 people but it was too good to waste! Desserts are on offer as well.

I thought it was very reasonably priced as well, with my order including a pint coming to £23 roughly.

I read in the toilet a poster that said the manager, Amy, is moving on to pastures new and they are on the look out for someone to replace her. What was interesting was that both volunteer and hospitality sector experience was being sought, which illustrates the community focus of this establishment.

Anyway, by the looks of things whoever replaces them will have their work cut out, because this is one of the best examples of a community pub doing everything right. Long may it continue.

If you get a chance to visit this pub, absolutely do!

I recently visited The Crown Pub in St. Nicholas Market, Bristol, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of disappointing. My friends and I went there with hopes of having a good time, but unfortunately, that was not the case.

We were enjoying our evening, before a rather unpleasant incident unfolded. We were all just sitting together, minding our own business. It was evident that there was some sort of issue, with the empty seats we had taken from another group and the matter was brought to the attention of the bar manager by a member of their group.

What followed left us utterly dismayed. We were asked to leave the premises, and it was deeply disheartening to see our evening take such a turn. It felt like discrimination was at play as two of us are of Indian descent. This incident truly made us question the ethos and inclusivity of The Crown Pub.

I believe that every establishment should strive to create a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons, regardless of their background. Sadly, this experience has made me rethink ever returning to The Crown Pub. Discrimination has no place in any setting, let alone a place that should be synonymous with good times and camaraderie.

In light of my experience, I can only rate The Crown Pub with 1 star. It's a reflection of the disappointing encounter I had during what was meant to be an enjoyable evening out.

This is one of my local pubs and I really enjoy it, especially the garden which looks so beautiful in the summer. Sadly I was really disappointed with my fish finger sandwich yesterday, the fish fingers were the sort that you get from a frozen pack, many more pubs are doing amazing homemade versions which I was expecting. I’m also desperately sad that they no longer do the incredible, huge, homemade onion rings that they used to do-please bring them back, my friends and I miss them! However, the service & beer are always good & I enjoyed a good Sunday roast with a big family group recently so all is not lost.
Nothing but good vibes in this pub. Met by a gentleman at the entrance who quickly found us a suitable table. The interior has a really warm atmosphere - muted lighting, worn wood furniture, and a non-rowdy customer base.
The table service was efficient, you even order drinks from your seat.
We had a number of starters including the scotch egg and the brie which were both delicious. I then had the tomato burrata salad (see photo) which was equally tasty. Really recommend.
We had an amazing experience here. The food and the ambience is amazing. The staff is friendly, cooperative and courteous. We were served by Fin who is very apt, friendly and has a positive persona. Thank you Fin and Chef Adam for a scrumptious meal and a great experience. My family and I had a lovely time and I would surely like to visit this place again 💕💕💕
It was a great experience with the family. The place is steeped in centuries of history and immaculately maintained. We were given personal attention and superb service by Fin who also assisted us to decide and place our order. Chef Adam's recommendations of Fish cake and Roast lamb were perfect. The taste and the memories will linger for long. Would love to visit again to experience the ambience and savour the delicious food.

We didn't have any reservation but were early so we got a table for 2pax. Ordered the Sunday beef roast and it was delicious. Loved the side condiments that go well with the beef slices. Prefer the lighter ale instead. Very good service though its a tight space.

Great find before a gig nearby. Vegan menu at very good prices. The beer was excellent.
We had the falafel wrap, chicken (vegan) wrap with chips, Leveritt Ale and Cider all for a very reasonable £20.50.
Very relaxed atmosphere and great service.
Thanks 😁
Rude unprofessional staff. Very agressive and defensive when asked simple questions. See how they answer other reviews as an example. Decent selection of beers and pleasant beer garden.

Really fun pub with spacious outdoor area - beautifully decorated too! The staff are lovely and the food smelt great (sadly didn’t get to try). The ale selection is good but the lager is disappointing and at £4.50 for the cheapest pint I hoped it would taste a little nicer.
I love this place - it’s a gem in the heart of Bristol and always a great atmosphere. They’ve just started doing roasts on a Sunday and I tried their 3D printed “beef” option - it was amazing, plus the best Yorkshire puddings everrrrrr.

Good selection of beer here, we ate a Sunday roast which was nice, crispy roast potatoes Yorkshire pudding a bit on the stodgy side if you like that (I personally do), thick gravy.
However the service wasn’t great, we weren’t asked if we wanted any condiments until our food came out, then when we asked for apple sauce and horseradish we had a small amount between the four of us, we had half eaten our food.
Then when ordering additional drinks there was only 1 bar person and although I was only second in the queue I waited 10 minutes to get served.
On paper it’s a great establishment but the management needs to rail things in to make a slicker service for me to want to return.
I’m not from Bristol but don’t mind a little distance to get to somewhere I like and this place needs a slight increase to be back on my radar
Was a really great roast! Never had food here before but had the 3D printed plant based beef roast and it was delicious. Lovely chilled vibe in the day with good, well priced drinks and friendly staff.

We popped in to ask if they may have a table for 2, Sunday roast.
The lady went to check but the manager (I presume) came over and gave a very abrupt “no, slightly embarrassed and left.
I would never return here even if the food was 5*…
I will also be telling all of my local friends of the horrible attitude and cold reception.

The drinks are really reasonably priced and they have good beer. The £5 minimum card spend is a bit irritating. We came on a Saturday night and the atmosphere was surprisingly lacking which was a shame.
Decent city centre boozer. Fairly priced booze. Great music. Friendly crowd.
Annoyingly we were served drink in plastic glasses from 10.30 p.m. I felt no more inclined to assault somebody with a glass post 10.30 than I did pre 10.30.

Went here on a Sunday night for late drinks as a lot of other places had closed. They had a karaoke night and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. The place was rough and ready in my opinion but I just went with it. The place was packed inside and outside. Although the bar was busy, i seemed to get served with little problem but I didn't like the plastic glasses but understood why they used them. It was open until 3am on a Sunday night!

I’d say the place was interesting but I’m not sure if there’s an issue with cleanliness since when visiting my partner got bit by a bug that came down from the ceiling and into his top in one of the booths. Otherwise the drinks were lovely though I’d personally not be back again.

Absolute gem of Clifton Village!

The best atmosphere, sun-trap beer garden, great selection of beers and ciders and super friendly and helpful staff. All in all best place for any kind of gathering and get together time.

Highly recommend booking ahead of the visit as they operate table service only and it can get quite busy
Good portion size, ok range of veggie options. Loads of different ciders on offer

Nestled in a quiet corner is The Albion, a charming 17th-century village pub that offers more than just beers and British meals - it serves up an enchanting slice of history.

My gastronomic journey here was headlined by arguably one of the best fish and chips in town, crafted with exquisitely battered haddock. Each bite was a testament to the mastery of classic British cuisine, reminding me why this dish is a perennial favourite. The great tartar sauce deserves a special mention too.

A chilled pint was the perfect accompaniment to the meal, and nothing beats savouring a cold, frothy IPA in a place that oozes history and character.

In sum, our visit to The Albion was not only enjoyable but also well worth the investment. This rustic pub, with its tasty fare and a fine selection of beers, reaffirms why it remains a gem in the village. Don't miss out!

My favourite bar in Bristol. Huge selection of spirits, great cocktails, and lovely staff. If you’re a gin fan I can definitely recommend a Docker’s and tonic.
Cracking pub at the Castle end of Old Market, with great atmosphere inside and plenty of space to sit outside (at the back).

Great stop off point if venturing further into old market or the Trinity
Food was mostly really good, and beer was great, but honestly the yorkshire pudding is a waste of space on the plate. Would still recommend
Edit:
I've been there today and service approved a lot. We was seated straight away and after few minutes we was ready to order and after a minute we order. Today was great. Service was excellent and food was tasty and excellent as well.

I love the food , it was fantastic, very tasty and nice. Place inside look amazing, calm and its nice restaurant.
Unfortunately after we was seated we was waiting for some to take our order more than an 1h ... after taking order just for drinks , we wait another 30min for different waitress so she took our food order. I was disappointed when waitress told me there were out of food I was waiting to try so I will be back to try it :) (Italian burata.... the dish).

Food arrived in few minutes and was very nice and great. I never eat better burger in my live. Overall was good experience but waitresses need be better or more of them ...
Food is delicious and fish is fresh. Chips are great too. We waited quite a while for the food to arrive but it is worth the wait.
Saw this place while taking a walk, & I loved the name & outdoor vibes. Came back later in the evening with a friend, & it was an instant hit.

I am a huge fan of music, and the playlist was amazing, they had Bose speakers(good taste!). Got a couple of cocktails that were really good. We went inside for a bit & I really liked the seating & lighting too.

Service was good too, the guys at the bar were friendly. Can't wait to go back again.

Excellent position to watch the world go by.
Not sure if it has any disabled access facilities which is why I only scored 4 stars.

One of the best roast I’ve ever had. We had 2 courses and both starter and mains are amazing! The beef was tender and pork belly was great as well. The staff are very nice and friendly:) Well worth a visit!
My mum and I enjoyed a lovely dinner here. The bar staff namely Frankie was absolutely lovely. So welcoming so polite and couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. She directed us to the restaurant and Kieran was our waiter. Such a lovely polite hardworking gentleman. Constantly waiting on us whilst managing many other tables running up and down the stairs whilst giving each guest an enjoying experience . Our tip reflected our experience. Definitely would return. One of few places these days which is managed so well and has excellent service with credit to our encounter with Frankie and Kieran. Your hardwork is certainly noticed and appreciated guys

Great dining experience. Food is amazing really delicious, staff are very attentive and friendly, they do great cocktails too. They have separate bar area too from the restaurant with a great atmosphere and decorated beautifully.
Really old pub. Nearly 300 years old. You get used to the smell quite quickly, so don't leave straight away like some flies I spotted, trying to escape!
The beer sticky flooring, that reminded me of my student days, was up hill and down dale. A small, tight, winding staircaae leads you up to the gents. An old fireplace oddly protrudes from the wall, perhaps evidence of an old converted room.
No WiFi. Well, "there is staff WiFi but it's not public" said the cheery barman, not even looking up from his mobile phone( lose a star!) However, there is a really good range of drinks available. I opted for a great stout called, "mena dhu", that means 'black hill', in Cornish.

What a pleasant little establishment with friendly staff, tasty cocktails and atmosphere.

As a lone stranger to the land, I found myself walking the streets in search of a bar that looked friendly and atmospheric. On a Friday night, that is a near impossible task, but as luck would have it I was drawn to a cosy bar with a roaring fire - The Rummer.

I escaped the rain and sampled a cider brewed in house, which was pleasant. Afterwards, I decided to take a shot at a cocktail and went for a Hot Buttered Rum. What a treat. Served warm, spiced with cinnamon and garnished with grated nutmeg. A hug in a (glass) mug. If it’s a rainy day and you’re looking for something to warm you up and give you a buzz, I can recommend no better.

After a while I was invited to chat with the bar staff, who were friendly, helpful and made me feel right at home. Big shout out to Chris and Ben.

If you’re looking for a calm drink in a friendly spot, swing on by. I know I will next time I’m in Bristol.

Decor lovely, cool little place, staff friendly. However waiting 30mins for cocktails in an empty bar, on a Sat night, being forced to listening to Come On Eileen, twice, wasn’t great! Such a shame as I’m sure this place has potential, if it’s busier and managed better.

I didn't know that this pub was here despite living in Clifton for the last 6 years, a really great find. a nice bar, good selection of beers, interesting local and mainstream. A heated beer garden all in the middle of Clifton.
Service was good, pleasant and quick. The pub had a very nice atmosphere
Definitely a great find. I will return
Shockingly (in a good way) massive portions of high quality food at a more than affordable price. Staff, as ever, friendly and helpful and knowledgable about their wares. Always has great music, previously only been in at 2am or later (/earlier...), but will absolutely return for more of that beef brisket! Margherita pizza and BBQ Platter shown in pictures, with a Wild at Heart cocktail (tequila, gin, vodka) - £33. Mulled cider, too, on a separate order. £4. Great pub, great food, great atmosphere. Definitely worth it, especially when other locations nearby will happily charge fifteen quid for a burger alone! I didn't manage to eat it all, but I got a handy box to take it home 😁 christmas dinner sorted too 😂😂😂

Lovely pub, really nicely decorated and the garden is absolutely stunning in the summer. Had a roast today and overall it was lovely, my only complaints being the roast potatoes and the lack of crunchy crackling on the pork as promised. The Yorkshire pudding was huge and so fluffy! It's an old traditional pub located in Clifton village. We went for a lunch on Saturday with friends and everyone had a nice time. They have limited food options, but the quality of food is on the spot. We had calamari and spicy chicken wings for starter and fish and chips as a main. There is no doubt food is good and service is good. However, we did feel like staffs were on a rush and keep coming to check if we are ready to order.
Pros: Ambience, food and drinks
Cons: Seating could have been improved.

Thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar with a front seat to all the action.

Great cocktails and they are also good a making the classics.
Went here twice in one evening and would come back again.
I love this place. It feels naughty but is perfectly safe. It feels a bit 'Cabaret' and people often dress up to come here. However, it's not pretentious and the staff are lovely. The cocktails are great and the atmosphere is relaxing.

Love love love this place! I had the battered haddock and it was literally the best fish and chips I have ever had. My friend had the steak and she said it was excellent. For dessert we shared an amazing sticky toffee pudding - it was heavenly. They have a good selection of beers and ciders and the service was outstanding.

It would be 10 stars if they let me. Firstly, i was on my own and made to feel so welcome. Secondly, the cocktails were just SUPERB! Mike reallly tried to learn about my tastes and reflect those in what he recommended. Had a super evening. Thanks guys. Awesome service and drinks. Now where’s that hangover breakfast?

This was a lovely Vegan Sunday Roast experience, the atmosphere was great and pretty cosy! The table service was super efficient and they were very careful to check our dietary requirements several times with a vegan and lacto-vegetarian. I was surprised to see how many people were in the pub when leaving considering how quick the service was. Roast potatoes could have done with a bit more love, the cauliflower cheese was exceptionally yummy.

The Lansdown is a great neighbourhood pub with a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. I only had drinks there. They had a good selection of beers including my most recent favourite Camden Hells. A good hoppy lager. They show all the sporting events. It’s a great spot to stop for a pint.
A great pub. Amazing atmosphere, the service was the best. The best Sunday roast ever. Great ingredients and perhaps the best beef that Ive ever eaten. Now I can understand why the Sunday is always fully booked. Give it a try at least for a beer, the place is magical

The Sunday lunch here was delicious, one of the best I've ever had; veg was cooked well, the extras were delicious and the beef was SO TENDER.

Didn't need a starter. For the price it was pretty unbeatable.

Quite small inside so recommend booking (although you might need to book a way in advance as this is popular).

Local crafted drink selection is great. Craft drinks are pre-batched so no need to alter. But the bar staff is well equipped to sort out your request.
Our drinks were great!

Booked a roast dinner at the bank tavern almost 2 years ago and finally got to try the famous roast dinner out and it didn’t disappoint. The pub itself is tucked away and if you haven’t been before is easy to miss. Inside is a nice mix of new and old and the pub itself is very small and probably explains why the waiting list is so long! The starter I went with was the ham hock and it was great! For main I went with roast beef and it’s possibly the best roast beef I’ve had. It’s soft and tender and just melts in the mouth! Roast potatoes were nice and crispy also. My only complaint with my main course was I only had 2 pieces of beef, where as most other places I’ve had a roast offer 3. And for dessert I went with a white chocolate crème brûlée which again was one of the best I’ve had. All this for £19.95 is outstanding value and will be hard to beat at that price. The staff were friendly and helpful and made sure everything was okay with our food.

Superb. Great decor, chill environment, real ale, half decent prices for the centre, great garden, lovely barman that served me. Fully recommend. Gay friendly, if that's even relevant. Just a great bar in the city centre.

Went on Sunday for a roast with my partner and my family. Despite them saying they were a staff member down the service was really speedy.

The food itself was excellent. I’ve eaten a lot of roast dinners (too many!) and this one was up there as one of the best I’ve had. All the veg was beautifully cooked, the chicken was nice and moist and the gravy was delicious.

Things I liked even more were the fact that they kindly allowed me to have one of the roasted half-apples from the pork dinner with my chicken dinner. Very kind. They also were entirely happy bringing us more gravy when asked. I don’t know why but pubs are often really grouchy about having to bring more gravy! And finally my partner had the vegan roast. Often I find the vegan version of something like a roast to look and feel a little bit of an after thought but this one looked every bit as delicious and grand as the meat versions. We also had a little baby in our group and despite not having dedicated changing facilities we were offered a quiet private space to change him in. Good job.

Situated in our favourite district of Clifton we spent a very early evening drinking a bottle of New Zealand red wine, pink lady rum cocktails, beer and mixed bar nuts. Very chilled out and well patronised and on the corner of the main thoroughfare we had a great time chatting to the locals. The bar staff could have cheered up a bit, but hey ho, after the first bottle we didn't care.

This pub used to have a great food menu but now it serves vegan dishes only.
Still a great pub that welcomes a mixed crowd with friendly service. The place is always clean and presentable and I enjoy the easy chairs and sofas for relaxing.
Red light was amazing! We didn't want to leave! The secret entrance was really cool and the staff, music and drinks were great!! Can't wait to go back!!
