We walk by this place every day and thought it was too pretentious but it was great when we tried it. The ceviche docena was delicious and the gazpacho was awesome. The fish and chips were outstanding. Service was good, food came fast but it is a busy place so a bit chaotic. Overall a great experience.

***Read this before you come here*** This place is a bully, fraudulent, and full of rude staffs. They served us a crab dish that tasted so old and bitter, agreed to cancel the order but still added it to our bill. When we asked why, the same person that looks like a manager acted like the cancellation never happened and insisted on giving us a to-go box that contained our cancelled order and kept forcing us to buy it. ?????? I wonder if they do this to all people or just we people who don’t speak Spanish??? That manager does speak and understand English, he just wanted to bully us!!! Plus I have seen people saying on social media that they do put things that you never have on bills. I should have taken those lessons and not going. So be careful, and do not come to this place unless you have to!!!!!!

Great food and service. As soon as I sat down, they offer you some coffee and milk with a pastry. I got an omelette, it was great!

Or first taco stop upon arriving Mexico City. We had incredible tacos and service. Our server recommended the smoked pastor tacos (black pastor). The meat is smoked and tasted incredible. ALL of the tacos we ordered were delicious. We also liked the iced cold horchata drink and passion fruit juice.

Great for tacos and sopa de tortilla. The cucumber lime water was very refreshing. Their tortillas are fresh made, good service and good location.

This a seafood place, none of the food matches what is in previous reviews. It has shrimp tacos, fish tacos, then a hot pot with shrimp. I was looking for the traditional al pastor with pineapple on top, nope didn’t see it anywhere. The food is good, but you are paying US prices. A one time visit for me.

Hola! Les recomiendo que no asistan. , llevaba tiempo de ser cliente, pero el día de ayer fui con amigos y al pagar la cuenta sin contar que te piden la propina del 20 % a la fuerza de propina te roban adentro, el capitán, el gerente y la mesera me robaron 500 pesos ya que me los pidieron para poder salir, no acudan la verdad viví mala experiencia no me gustaría le pasará esto a alguien más, vamos a un lugar se supone bien para poder pasarla bien y te salen con esto.

I’ve dined in and had take out from here plenty of times. Everything is excellent! The service is great and the way they package delivery orders is very nice. Highly recommend.

Nice food but the downfall of this restaurant is the service- no common sense and slow, not proactive. They brought one menu for a table for three at the start. Also
Clearing glasses when not finished with drink.
Nice classic interior, low lighting , open planned kitchen.
Average cocktails- the hurricane and the martini.
Brioche crab or crab roll was excellent- fried brioche with blue crab meat, meat had mayonnaise therefore not as strong, could do with more crab meat as when shared- the sides did not have much meat.
Pulpo adolescent a las brasas- grilled Octopus with sweet potato chips was very good.
Lonja de Pescado zarandeada was average on its own, could taste the smokiness of the fish meat , but when put together with the coriander salad , alioli and avocado emulsion-tasted great.
Tataki di atun aleta- blue fin tuna with Japanese soy based sauce was excellent- accompanied with horseradish cream.
One desert, no selection at all, thankfully was good. A dolce de leche cake with ice cream.
Lots of Waitering staff standing around. It not doing very much - one table sat down and waited for 5 minutes then got up and left as didn’t get served.
12’C outside but doors are open so super chilly when the kitchen starts to close down after last orders so was not comfortable.

Comí mojarra a la diabla, no tenía sabor y estaba cruda, la atención es buena pero la comida deja mucho que desear, no lo recomiendo para comer solo para bebidas alcohólicas.

Bad start since the beginning when we entered the restaurant and the hostess looked at us as if we were parasites. Probably because we were not dressed according to her standards (we were wearing normal casual clothes as typical tourists) or because my wife was not white enough for the standard of the neighbourhood.
We ordered 2 fillets, which they served it as just the simple and bare piece of meat, no decoration or small side, which you have to order as an extra. In every meat restaurant I've visited, they always bring a salad, potatoes or others with any cut of meat but not here.
The meat was ok, nothing special. I've eaten much better at much lower price. Price definitely too expensive for the food and service that you receive.
When we left the restaurant, the hostess looked at us again as if some stray dogs were leaving the place. This woman should definitely change her attitude and understand that she's a simple waiter in a third world country so better be humble when judging other people just from their appearance.
The rest of the waiters who brought us food and drinks instead were very kind and professional, providing a high level service. Unfortunately the behaviour of the hostess ruined all our experience.

We came here for beef tongue tacos but they don’t have it for breakfast. Breakfast overall is not great but not bad either - recommend coming for dinner instead

I am a foreigner but I recommend this restaurant strongly. You can enjoy the real mexican foods and feel the atmosphere of traditional. (Tips) Eat pozzole with cream. I like pork head meat. Mollete is not bad but less than expected. Anyway I recommend here to you all!

Restaurant is in a nice location in Polanco -- and from previous reviews, I decided to stick to the seafood (as much as possible).
The restaurant is casual for the area, with a little less pretentiousness that you get at other establishments. The service was excellent and both servers that helped me were ready to help explain the food and dishes. The food arrived pretty quickly.
The food was just okay. While I wouldn't say any dish was bad, I wouldn't say there were any dishes that stood out either. The tuna tartar was probably the favorite of the night, but certainly not something I would come back to the restaurant for. They provided a selection of hot sauces and salsas at the beginning, and I believe that was mostly to make up for the lack of flavor that exists in the dishes themselves. Additionally, the wine list is pretty small if you're only drinking by the glass (only one red wine to choose from).
The prices are pretty standard for Polanco, but for the quality of food, I think you could do better going elsewhere.

Affordable and tasty taco place, frequented by locals and tourists. Service was friendly and fast (Orlando was patient with us English speakers, giving great recommendations). The highlights were the Al Pastor taco trio (traditional, negra and chicken) - pineapple was a nice touch. Guacamole and tortilla soup were also good. Would return for sure 👍🏾

Utterly terrible experience, by far the worst in Mexico City. This is an Argentinian steakhouse that we visited on a Saturday evening (around 7pm), only to be told they had run out of every type of Wagyu, which was about 80% of their menu. Drinks took multiple attempts to order, and then multiple follow-ups to be received. Food all appeared at the table at random intervals instead of together. The truffle fries tasted like they hadn't even heard of what truffle was (the manager later attempted to convince me that truffle oil didn't contain any truffle, and wasn't actually created with truffles). Putting aside the fact every other person in the restaurant looked as fed up as we did, it seemed whoever was running the kitchen that night - didn't know how to cook a steak. Our 'medium' steak came out rare, so we sent it back and 20minutes later were served a cremated piece of indeterminate meat. Unfortunately 3 other tables around us also had to ask for their steak to be finished properly also. The cherry on-top was being asked to pay for the steak that was simply inedible - frankly I'm surprised the knife could even cut it. This is a 0/10 experience and just not even worth a re-consideration.

Pésimo lugar te atraen porque casa Toño tiene muchos comensales para entrar, la comida sin sabor atención pésima te tardan demasiado y te traen loa tacos fríos, son salsa en fin no regreso y espero que la gente la piense dos veces para entrar aquí.

If you are looking for authentic food in Mexico City, this is it. These folks honor the Oaxaca tradition with incredibly tasty drinks and food, especially the traditional salsa and mole. Highly recommend the squash blossoms, fish of the day with green mole and tamale with pork and brown mole is out of this world. They make the salsa fresh table side. We asked for Mexican spicy level and they delivered. Service is excellent and staff is extremely welcoming and friendly. Eating here feels like becoming a part of history and like you’re part of a family. Highly recommend.

The food was good. We got here before the end of breakfast. I felt rushed to order from the breakfast menu. The prefer was taken at 12:20 and I had to remind the manager about our food. They prepared the food in a rush obviously. If I knew it would taken that long all they had to say was lunch will be a better option. Not coming back. It was highly recommended by our concierge. Too bad my experience wasn’t the best.

Great food with a Oaxacan menu (so it will be slightly different than the average Mexican food, which is good if you’re here for a while). The salsa made in front of your eyes was spicy and flavorful. The pork taquitos melted in our mouth. Ceviche was sweet and peanuty so a great change from the ceviche you’ve had before. Will definitely be back.

I hadn't been here before as I thought it was a bit commercial having seeing their branches pop up all over town but boy was I wrong.
Their pastor left nothing to be desired and their many taco variety's are sure to satisfy anyone. Service is also quick and excellent as you would expect from any taco joint.

This is a place for sea food and grill lovers. They offer several dishes from the sea and several kind of meats.
I had a degustation of 12 oysters, all incredibly good. Had a shot with an oyster inside that was also stunning. I decided to have another starter, a taco of octopus and sea urchin. Honestly it was the best taco of my life. The sea urchin was so good with an amazing strong flavor.
As a main I decided to share a veal sweetbread. I think a bit more cooked would have had even better taste, but already as it was it was delicious!
Decided to have also bone marrow.
We had water, tequila and michelada as drinks.
Total price was 2’055 MXP (today around 120 USD), price for two people.

Located in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, Quintonil was ranked as the 9th best restaurant in the world in 2023. Their seasonal tasting menu features modern twists on traditional Mexican dishes and flavors.
I had their Autumn Menu (prix fixe) and sat at the kitchen bar, which gives you a front row seat to all the food prep magic happening in the kitchen. Overall, the food was solid. Service was top notch. The restaurant decor was simple, contemporary, bright, and welcoming.
I didn't think the experience justified the price tag though, and prefer Pujol just slightly over Quintonil.
The menu was as follows:
1) Butternut squash and tomatoes salad, rice horchata and pumpkin seeds. This dish was a great opener - extremely fresh and refreshing on the palate. The crispness of the squash paired wonderfully with the creamy tartness of the yogurt.
2) Sardines in tomato sauce with purslane, white balsamic vinegar and pomegranate. I wasn't a fan of the strong fishiness of the sardines.
3) Stone crab in pipián verde with sunflower seeds, makrut lime and Thai basil, blue corn tostadas. This dish was delicious. The sauce had a spicy salad kick to it that added another wonderful layer to each bite.
4) Charred avocado tartare with escamoles, mexican herb chips. This dish was okay. The presentation was beautiful but the flavor was pretty straightforward: charred avocados.
5) Striped bass barbacoa in adobo de chapulín, grilled green beans and cauliflower cream with plankton. The subtle smoky chat of the fish was great. The skin was nice and crispy. A full flavored seafood dish.
6) Braised oxtail in recado negro panucho, almond purée, red onion. One of my favorites from the menu. Laden with flavor and chili heat, this fancy take on the street taco was delicious. I wanted seconds.
7) Cactus paddle sorbet topped with corn husk ash - so refreshing!
8) Crème fraîche and melipona bee honey, physalis, caviar - this was fantastic. The crème fraîche was so smooth and creamy, and it paired beautifully with the salty brine of the caviar.
9) Mexican cornbread with rompope de nixtamal, Cuetzalan vanilla and passion fruit. A dessert form of Mexican corn bread, with a touch of corn liquor in the middle. This was more savory than sweet but I liked it though.
10) Mamey fruit panna cotta tartelette, pixtle cream and finger lime.
11) Tacho chocolate parfait, raspberry, olive and black garlic

Great spot for breakfast lunch or brunch. Everything I tried was very good from pastries, dish or sandwich. Classic simple dish very well done. Get ready for some queue on the weekend

This place is always busy but service is super fast! The food was average. Salsas were really good! Service is a 3 star because server was coming to our table every single minute, asking if we needed anything! It was too many times. LET ME EAT!

The best oysters in town! We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered and we were lucky to have visited on their 8th anniversary because there was live dj and a special menu of the day. We didn’t order any meat dishes but lots of tables were ordering their burgers and steaks as well. Recommend also ordering their crab rolls.

We used to like coming here for breakfast, lunch or dinner but lately we are dissappointed with the food quality and the service. Nowadays both are downright awfull.
It was worth dropping by on weekends when they offerred borrego but now it is no longer part of the menu; instead they have new combinations with “blah” taste.

Wow, just wow. I showed up with no reservation and no expectations. I was not disappointed as the food was next level and the wait staff very attentive. I had a ten course tasting menu with wine pairings, left with a full stomach and smile on my face.

Some of the dishes were delicious and other ones I didn’t like as much. My favorites were the starters, the chicken, and the dessert. The duck and the make your own taco (minus the chip) was pretty disappointing to me. I wouldn’t come again but it was overall worth the experience.

The best ceviche I’ve had in CDMX. We also had the Smokey aguachile which was super fun and interesting but a bit too sour for my taste! Most of the other dishes were lacking in some way - the octopus needed more salt, the artichoke + dip was tasteless, the squid was not good.
The vibe of the restaurant was very chill. Could have had a little more light on the table to see the food but otherwise no complaints. Waiters were professional, food came promptly.

The wine pairing was on point. Definitely a place to come if you’re visiting, but being Mexican myself I feel like there were some things I wasn’t impressed by. It’s clearly catered to a foreign audience (like the insect section, and the explanation of what is “taquear” lol) so in my experience I couldn’t justify the cost, but lovely experience nonetheless.

It is a fine dining place with a tasting menu. The gastronomical experience was spread over nine courses and the desserts service. The food quantity was good however some of the courses could have been better. The service was impeccable and the server explained each course well. Since I am not a big fan of oxtail, the kitchen changed the course to lamb and chicken. Even though the dish was not the best, I appreciated the willingness of the chef to make the last minute change for me. The desserts were nice. Overall, a one time visit restaurant for the experience. I will not come back again.

As a Mexican, I appreciated this place: its concept, its service, the variety of its food without losing the Mexican touch, its prices, and the fact that I didn't speak English and they didn't treat me differently. Bonus: they welcome you with a courtesy chicken broth, accompanied by tostadas, cream, and homemade sauce.
For lunch, I had "Ensalada de camote y espinacas," Chile Relleno (de fide seco) en salsa de frijol -a big flavorful surprise! I asked for hot salsa, and they brought me a delicious roasted habanero chile sauce.
I also enjoyed "Jarrito Loco" (tequila, pineapple juice, coconut cream, passion fruit, and grapefruit soda). I highly recommend it!

One of the best fine dining experiences in Mexico City. The starters are always delicious, and the beef is the star of the show. The desserts are also incredible.
I had the filet, the mac and cheese, and a chocolate dessert that I shared with the birthday boy. The empanadas are also incredible!

A 5-star dining experience. A full 3 hours of culinary delight. The staff is so friendly and attentive. Each dish of the tasting menu was explained well and the flavors are combinations you likely won't get anywhere else. The cocktails are also quite nice. I was surprised that the lighting in here was not dimmer but appreciated that I could really see each dish since there were such thorough explanations. While this meal was more expensive than I anticipated (over $200 per person before beverages), I did find the experience and food to be worth it. Special occasion only for sure but nonetheless no regrets.

Great little place. Had brunch there and we all enjoyed our meals. The cafe de olla was fantastic! The tlayuda was great especially with the chorizo. Lots of good options. Not cheap but not too expensive either. Has indoor and outdoor seating.

My experience at Quintonil was one of my favorites for fine dining to date. The food and drinks were incredible and the service was impeccable. There are more courses than I typically see, which was a bonus. This is a michelin quality restaurant and much preferred over well-known competitors in the area. I would highly recommend.

The meal started pretty strong with great veggies dishes. I was not impressed with the DIY tacos. Given the price point, I’d think we get lechon or wagyu as protein and not just sausage. Overall, the meal was good but we prefer pujol over this. Glad we tried it though.

Excellent service, presentation and experience! I made the mistake of bringing my grandmother here and she would not eat anything, it was just out of her element. The food was okay. I did mention I was pescatarian, but the rest of my family was not and they only got chicken. For $300 USD per person, I think giving them some type of meat would have been good. Overall, this place is the type of restaurant that you go to only once to experience.

Really fun tasting menu experience. Very friendly, attentive and accommodating staff. Tons of different flavors and interesting incorporation of insects and bugs. Definitely recommend. Only suggestion would be to tone down the interior lighting.

Made a reservation here for a Thursday night. It's a small restaurant and they were quite busy. Great service from the hostess to all the wait staff. There's even a person that opens the door that leads to the bathroom hallway. We ordered the meat appetizer which was delicious. The thin cut steak was so flavorful with that beefy roamfree beef. The sausage was good. They made the salsa tableside so it was nice and fresh. We ordered the duck with mole as well. The mole was great, had the depth of flavor you would expect in a good mole. Overall a great experience.

The debate and forever battle of best tacos in Mexico City will be endless. Different people recommend all sorts of places, and depending on what types of meat or salsas you like, the opinions of a proper “taqueria” will vary from “good tacos” to “the most amazing bite of food I’ve ever had”.
La Casa del Pastor falls in between (in case you don’t feel like reading the rest, the takeaway is definitely eat here 😋).
This particular location is one of the nicest looking ones thanks to its proximity to all major Polanco shops, walkable street (Masaryk) and safety.
Service is excellent and the long menu will make you want to come back a few times (I always do lol).
If you like pastor (marinated pork) please do yourself a favor and try the house specialty “black pastor” (same concept but marinated in a sauce made in house). Speaking of sauces…they bring a selection of salsas (all delicious) ranging from mild to hot. I suggest to try them all and then pick a favorite to smother in your food.

Delicious breakfast at a simple, inexpensive little gem in Polanco. We had breakfast here recently. I had huevos motuleños. The proprietor explained: a tortilla, beans on top, then a slab of ham, then a couple eggs, then a slice of cheese, then a mild red sauce over everything and some sliced plátanos - which tasted like they were fried in bacon grease. Very, very tasty. My wife had huevos divorciados (should I be concerned?), which she loved. Instant coffee served. A simple, very nice little place set among dozens of much fancier - and also very nice - places.

Tough to find independent restaurants in the city, but this one is and the food and drinks are simple but great. Nice place where tourists and locals mix and where there's space for all. Good place for a cosy bite and real Mexican food.

Our visit to La Casa de Los Abuelos was very disappointing. Service was atrocious!!! The restaurant was not busy and our server was completely useless. I ordered my hot chocolate and waited 40 minutes before it arrived. That was after I reminded the server of my missing drink twice . Disappointing service also extended to others in our party of 9 who...

- ordered items didn't arrive, or were incorrect.

‘Below Average’ was the theme of my meal. Only plus was Dog friendly outside (not sure inside). Service was below average, food took 35 minute for an omelette and fruit…, and my second espresso took 25 minutes. Omelette was cold and the cheese had not melted at all.

Neighborhood family-style restaurant; kind of old but they have a lot to choose from in terms of menu and pastries; not many vegetarian options but there are a few things like the provolone omelette. It was clean enough, the feel was older; service is very nice and they were accommodating. I got a fruit cup with oats and cream that was good. You can tell they’re not used to getting tourists but they tried to help us best they could (our Spanish was more limited than we wished). Overall fine to eat a quick bite if you’re not looking for high-end cuisine.

Dante has delicious food and such a great variety of dishes to choose from. The atmosphere is really nice. Even better is the service. Christopher and all the other servers treated us like gold and made us feel welcomed. We cannot wait to go back.

The food was delicious and the waiters were incredibly nice. We got the Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles, a black tea, and an espresso. Perfectly located for us as well. A great spot to have breakfast before heading out for a day of walking around the city.

We start with a simple salsa made right at the table made from roasted tomatillos and tomatoes. It’s a bit too watery for my liking, but overall very tasty - so much so that we probably ate too much of it that we couldn’t finish the rest of the plates.
The Oaxaca platter to start is like a Oaxacan charcuterie with tons of variety. The chicharron is particularly crispy yet still airy. The quesadilla allows the cheese to really shine through. The cheeses, a stringier kind as well as a grittier kind with jalapeño mixed in, are fresh but maybe a bit overly salted. The grasshoppers are have a fun ting. The slice of roasted pork is textbook perfect, while the stuffed chili with pineapple and meat is awesome with a fun sweet flavor mixed in.
For mains, the octopus is lightly coated with a layer of butter, perfect in terms of texture to yield a soft chewy texture. There isn’t so much an exciting array of flavors, but the textures are quite interesting. The esquites on the side provides an excellent chewy texture with the shells not completely removed.
The duck tamales and mole is done exceptionally well. The duck is very soft and stringy, which is contrasted from a mushy texture that the masa yields. The mole is sweet and flavorful, which goes quite fittingly with the duck. Unfortunately, we were very full by the time we started the tamal that it was almost painful to finish the dish. The portions are huge here.

beautiful atmosphere and great presentation. waiters were very friendly and took the time to explain each dish. We tried the set of three tacos and they were delicious! definitely some new flavors for some of us but good nonetheless. Bathrooms were great too. Would definitely come back! Good price for the classiness of the place

Today was my first Day in this great restaurant, I recommend it so much, specially the “Mole de Olla” in this rainy say was perfect. i finish my dinner with a “Cafe Lechero”.

Great place for breakfast. Sone staff make an effort with English. Had traditional choices most of times and were very good. Pastries also recommended. Coffee was much better than then hotel's or Starbucks.

I say this place is justifiably expensive, and I’ll gladly will spend time and money here on my future visits to Mexico City.

The restaurant has a very friendly staff but the food was decent. We had me as the vegan in the group which they did a great job accommodating but I had a lot of help from my coworker who explained it in Spanish. But even the folks who are not vegan thought the food was good not great. The presentation of the food was very nice. The cocktails were better than the food. We had a couple of nice bottles of wine but not sure if me or the folks I was with would go back. I'd give it a 3.5 star if I could because it was slightly better than okay.

Wow! What a great experience!!! Perhaps best lunch I've had so far in Mex city. Great accommodating staff, friendly & welcoming. Great outdoor and indoor sitting with beautiful organic ambiance. Excellent food choices, rich in flavors & great presentation. Highly recommend it.
