Friendly Church call Mom and very few places have a German language service

A community center which welcomes all.

Pool is great. Plenty of lanes “off hours” (between lunch and after work hours). Showers in the men’s locker room are barely functional, but get the job done. Friendly staff!

It was very nice, it was clean in the locker room and showers were nice. The rest room was clean. I definitely plan to go back there again.

Excellent area for gatherings. They have a lovely water area for the children to play in.

This property is a hidden gem in Washington. Our tour guide was engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. I look forward to going back to try the beer garden.

This is a hidden gem of Washington DC. I've visited the city many times and never heard of it before. Definitely worth a visit to do the tour and have a drink in the garden. The garden is open to the public but tours must be booked in advance. And the tour is worth the small fee! This house is so beautiful and interesting to learn about from a local curator.

One of the most beautiful places in DC! The true definition of a hidden gem.

This is what family is supposed to be like.

The tour is good, you get to go inside the house. A max of 8pax per tour group makes it cozy and intimate. A little spooky inside but you get to learn more about the family. The inside is well preserved and high tech based on the period it was built. The owners were definitely trail blazers...

I used the Tacoma Park pool for my swim lessons through Parks and recreation. I'm really bummed that there is limited lanes. Lots of swim teams monopolize the pool. I'm not sure what goes on during the middle of the day, but because I'm a working individual it doesn't much matter. Lastly I was told that some of the lanes are closed on the weekends because a lack of staff. I understand that but still in bummed

The Heurich House Museum is open to the public for tours. Visitors can learn about the history of the house and the Heurich family, as well as see the many beautiful furnishings and artworks that fill the rooms. The museum also offers a variety of special events throughout the year, such as concerts, lectures, and holiday celebrations.
The Heurich House Museum is a great place to learn about the history of Washington, D.C., and the Gilded Age. It is also a beautiful and inspiring place to visit. If you are looking for a unique and educational experience, I highly recommend visiting the Heurich House Museum.

Amazing experience touring this well preserved home. Love that they are open on some afternoons so I had the opportunity to tour. Very reasonable price and so cool they host a beef garden in the back.

Great Place! And really warm staff.

As a Georgetown residents, I have been wanting to tour Heurich house for a couple years now. My friend and I kept looking for tickets but they were at weird times and nobody picked up the phone when you called the number. On 3/18 we found one ticket at 2 PM and one ticket at 3 PM, we showed up at 2:30 hoping they would accommodate us to tour together. The tour guy who was a fellow told me he would lose his job if he allowed be to be part of the 3PM tour, which I thought was a bit ridiculous, since I had paid for a tour, just at 2PM and the tour at 2 had one less person. He first told me that I could look on the website and call a number under tours, the number did not exist. My friend went on the 3PM tour and I had to wait for an hour in the garden for the tour to finish. This inflexibility completely ruined my day. Allowing one more person in a 3 PM tour group should not have been a big deal. I didn’t want to fellow to lose his job but he also could not tell me or provide me a number of someone that I could speak with to ask for an exception. He also was not able to reimburse me for the 2PM tour that I couldn’t go on. He said I’d have to wait till Monday to call and try to get my money back. I’d really not recommend this organization as they are completely inflexible. Honestly I’m not sure why I even wanted to tour some old rich person’s house just cause he owned a beer company. What a waste of time.

First off, the two gentlemen at the front desk are really great guys. This review is based on the fitness center and the system to register online.
First, you need to upload your ID to join but even trying various ways and getting phone support which was truly horrible by the way, I did not get the option to upload the ID. Truly horrible customer service person on the phone eventually emailed me a link that I was able to use. Now the fitness center is a small room without much equipment at 4 p.m. on a Friday. So there really wasn't much I could do as far as working out because everything was taken. It is free though so if you're in a situation where you really can't pay, this may be better than nothing but I don't think it's worth a 30 minute walk for me each way. Also, the lockers are on the third floor where the fitness room is on the main floor.... So people just put their jackets on the floor the fitness room. Can't bring your book bag inside because people use bookbags to steal the hand weights. I didn't even ask where people change.
The guy in the front knows the state of the gym because when I was leaving he asked if I was going to come back. Lol.
I'll give it two Stars instead of one because the staff is nice, it's free, and what do I expect from a community center? Lol.

Went by there on a Sunday just around sunset, it was mildly busy but everyone seem to be having fun. My daughter loves the park and it's open after dark which is great considering and gets dark so early these days. Don't worry you'll find that the park is very well lit. The park is split into two sections one for the smaller kids and one for the bigger kids absolutely great Park in the neighborhood I'd recommend it to anyone

I go for my son's boxing class. They have a cool workout area for boxing, with 4 treadmills, a couple of practice rings and other equipment. The basketball gym is usually not occupied. The is a small dance studio and game room also, but all those things are usually closed when we get there.

Amazing house to live in.

Great Rabbi!

This place is ridiculous. Signed up for kids ballet classes twice, once was canceled the other class teacher never showed up. Had a fantastic woodworking class but they kicked the kids out of it (not because of misbehavior but because they had forgotten to put an age limit on, so 4 classes in they were removed in the middle of class, very heartbreaking as the class was fantastic and they were actually learning stuff) now they have been told they can’t use the basketball court for anything other than basketball, even in the middle of the day when no one else is using it. Surprising as it is impossible to find an employee when you want one, but they sure are around to make sure the facility isn’t used. I am so sick of this waste of space

Rabbi Ceitlin and the Chabad congregation in Northeast are very welcoming to all who wish to take part in Jewish activities. We enjoyed meeting up with the group in Lincoln Park in September for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. With social
Distancing and masks, of course!

I take the free yoga classes here on Friday morning, it’s a very hood service provided by the City

The center was okay, despite a very bad computer lab. The computers were very slow and only a few would be working decent at one time. Accessing them was a pain also.

Like many DC facilities it is showing its age and could use some work. The parking lot is a bit small especially when classes are going on. However, I’m glad it is there because it has lots of room for classes which is nice.

Nice place best chabad

My kids go there to after care

Union congregation of United Methodist and United Church of Christ with German heritage. Open and affirming membership, with services available weekly in English and separate services in German twice monthly. All are welcome here. "You are precious, sacred, and beloved of God, always."

The best aftercare in the dmv. They keep them occupied with a variety of activities they have a computer center for homework and play plus they feed them. Also everyone that works there makes everyone that comes there feel right at home.

Best places for mental health and good food

Wonderful, I went from a consumer to volunteer within a few months. Very involved with the community food pantry

Very warm and welcoming people! Love it!

It's a great community center with pools gym and rooms for recreational activities. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are actually clean so are the showers . Tennis courts, football field and a great green area .

I love to workout there. The staff are always personable; Smiling and laughing; Having fun with the community, always. It is just that the ewuipment is outdated. That is the only thing I would change. Update the equipment, guys!

The best things about it are what is so different from ones like Rumsey and HD WOODSON pools. There is no mold and mildew covering the walls and curtains in women's bathroom because the female staff arecute lazy and refuse to clean those areas. Even though when you look over at the men's area all you see are the men cleaning the bathrooms coming out with mop buckets going in with sponges coming out with bags of trash every single day I go to them I see that on the woman's side they are too busy sitting down texting talking on their cell phone doing anything but cleaning.
Another difference was the life guards were paying attention to the swimmers. They were not on their phone talking, and texting like I'm used to seeing every day.
The water was a a perfect temperature and it was not too cool.
There was ample parking also.
The only thing I didn't like was that there were these big silver grates that separate the pool so you can't swim from one section to the other if you went to.
If you want to go into the deep end you have to get out of the pool and walk to the part you want to get into. I totally do not understand the concept behind that design.
That was the only reason I did not give it five stars.

Good people...older crowd...made me feel welcome and the message was intellectually stimulating.

Heurich House Museum is a mansion from the Gilded Age just south of Dupont Circle. For a home in the city, it's massive, but for a museum, it's small. It's truly a museum/event space for locals, not tourists (though, tourists are welcome).
The Heurich House is the mansion of Christian Heurich, a German immigrant who was the oldest brewer (he died at age 102) and big time business owner in DC. Outside of the government, he owned the most amount of land and employed the most amount of people. His large brewery now houses the Kennedy Center.
This home is a historic property remembering Christian Heurich's legacy in DC. They offer tours (suggested donation of $10) Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays that last an hour long. In addition to that, they always have events from book clubs to brewing classes to a famous Christmas market every year.
What most people don't know is they have a large garden in the back open to the public Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. They have benches, picnic tables, and even an art gallery in the carriage house for people to enjoy for free. It's the perfect respite from the city!

Excellent park for kids. Large playground, basketball, large field, shady trees, indoor pool across the street. Water fountain broken. Nice place to bring a lawn chair and hang with your dogs in the shade of the trees while the kids play. Bring water.

😍😘

This is the definition of community center.

El mejor lugar para la comunidad porque nos ayudan mucho

YMCA Fit & Well Seniors Program @ Chevy Chase Community Center. The Senior fitness program is amazing and free:)

Linda comunidad! Ya que brindan ayuda a personas que necesitamos.

I go to the Potomic Vocal Institute for voice lessons and I LOVE it!

Lugar donde se encuentra información sobre diferentes organizaciones para ayuda inmediata . organisacion Mlov.

This is a wonderful facility with a welcoming vibe. The dance room has a beautiful floor and mirrors for practice. The accoustics for our music were much better than I've seen at other similar venues.

Super friendly customer service, the main staff at the front desk all know me by name and I appreciate that. The children's programs, especially the early childhood programs, seem strong and well established. I've only ever come here to use the weights, and I've become significantly stronger and bigger, given the limited tools to work with. It is a less known gym in DC, so it is usually very easy to get in and out while achieving a full workout- within 45 minutes. They really need to clean the weight room and locker rooms more thoroughly, though. I would volunteer to deep clean it myself if they'd let me. I dropped chalk in the locker room once and the residue was there for the rest of the week, the rollers are used out of order, the majority of the lockers' fixtures are busted and/or the lockers stink and have old gym clothes in them - it's not cool, our tax dollars pay for the wages paid here, and more stern/attentive management could go a long way. I've also inquired about donating money to improve the weight room facilities via email but was never replied to. Overall, I like the neighborhood vibe, the friendliness of the staff, and the ease of accessibility to the facilities.

really great Center YMCA teaches great classes there and I teach Tai Chi come join us

I went with my 2.5 daughter for the Halloween party, it was perfect for my little one! free drinks, ice cream, candys of course, music and photos to have a wonderful memory!

Community center

It’s a good place for the summer

Clean with lots of activities for a wide variety of people. Personally enjoy the Amateur Telescope Workshop by the National Capital Astronomers.

One star is generous! This Center is the backwater of DPR. (I've visited other Centers for comparison -- they are funded and equiped.) For several years I've gone twice a week for free YMCA sponsored Senior fitness programs because DPR provides ZERO Senior-centric activities. The Center is underutilized and most rooms locked because they're opened primarily for high-fee PRIVATE venders during evening hours. These are verifiable (and photographed) statements of fact. The Center, with 27" doors, was NOT ADA accessible having a disfunctional chair-lift, until late October'16 when "forced" because of needed early-voter accessibility to improve. Persons who gave 3 or 4 stars had to be "ringers". The usually locked "Senior Lounge" (photo) is often cluttered and used for storage.
23 Jan.'18 Since the previous posting the room has been "de-cluttered". A DC Council Member did a walkthrough which resulted in increased free senior activities by the YMCA (not DPR) and another CM funded a Program Manager for Seniors. Nevertheless (go to DPR's website on this Center ) DPR claims amenities that DO NOT exist: Indoor 1/2 court BB; an exercise facility; computer lab; and an operational woodshop.

Really pretty legit. Decent weight room, basketball court, computer lab, fitness classes. Free for DC residents. I go there regularly and am glad this exists in my community.

Think about this: private businesses (Washington Sports Clubs), nonprofits (YMCA), and government (parks and recreation) all provide gyms. I am a millennial minimalist, a pro government democrat, and community diversity loving socialist; so I will go with the CoHi community center every time. Basketball open gym Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday's: free! Weight room: small fee. Community: priceless.

The United Church is utterly unique, it is a blend of The United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ, and has services in German twice a month. English language services are every Sunday at 11 AM and German language services on the first and third Sundays of the month at 9:30 AM. At 12:10 PM on Wednesdays there is a mid-week meditation.
The church has the best acoustics of any church I have ever attended, which sets off the pipe organ perfectly. There is a strong music program and members can look forward to hearing Bach, Handel, Schubert, et al.
The Church is a Reconciling Methodist Church and an Open and Affirming UCC church, which means that gays, lesbians, transexuals, and bisexuals are welcome.
The United Church prides itself on its outreach to the community with a twice monthly food pantry, On Thursday evenings at 7 PM there is Spirit Space where young adults can gather to discuss spiritual issues.
