The quality and variety of foods offered puts this meal service above a lot of others out there! They take allergens, dietary needs, and dietary preferences into consideration!

I’m a senior and has been in DC and grew up in South East all my life I’ve gone to all the schools in this area from elementary through High school. I am proud and happy to see what has transpired throughout the years❣️

The people were very nice spoke to everyone

This is not a place to eat but a volunteer opportunity to pack food packages and meals for clients. This was a intersection event that makes me consider other opportunities to volunteer here.

Do not donate here. Management keeps a substantial portion of donations. Regarding there holiday helping program they do not deliver anymore and the omicron covid variant is out here. Some elderly seniors and their families can't make it to there buildings which are located in the worst parts of DC. I recommend the Salvation Army if your looking for assistance refer ppl to them instead.

Didn't get my food again! Door Dash says they gave it to me last month, I was at work and today, they say they gave it to me again, I'm home no call no food. So much for the turkey I was supposed to get!

Very thankful for the volunteers at this non profit. With limited places for food and beverage on the weekends, this charity was helpful with bread, cereal, milk, pears and apples!

For was healthy and delicious at the same time. A lot of times you recieve these healthy meals and they lack flavor and variety. I was pleasantly surprised to see the delicious options I recieved. I especially loved the coconut ginger soup!

For all those that have negative comments. You without sin can cast the first stone. Be thankful at least for what they do overall.
There is absolutely not one human being, nor one organization, on this planet that can claim perfection-much less even close to perfection.
Be thankful for what you do receive. Be thankful, delivery folks that you can be part of something good instead of whining line little brats because you didn’t get a tip.
Instead of negativity and pointing fingers—try to recommend improvements. At least try to do something other than crying.

Love this place. I'm able to get food fresh vegetables and fruit sometimes meat to feed my family for almost a week. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They're there every Saturday and it's a lot to sacrifice your weekend. Thank you so so much may God continue to bless you.

Please don't use the "legal help" here. The attorneys are not reliable. They will not show up to the intakes that is scheduled for you by the "legal"staff. They are liable not to show up for your case. Do your family a favor and find legal help at dc courts or else where. Please do not use bread for the city.

Although I went to the wrong place they offered to help with what I needed

If you need a lawyer for housing code violations against DCHA, don't bother coming here. They might offer you some advice about what to do, but representing you...forget it!

Driver only called once when i called back he did not answer. When answering the door driver was seen running back to car and drove off. I then left a voicemail stated what happened and theyre telling me i was marked an undeliverable. What tf am I supposed to do for another 2 weeks with no groceries. I told them to leave them at the door bc it takes time to come to the door and thats what the last delivery driver had done but the employee that reached out to me said they arent allowed to do that. Why not? Someone was in the house but yall have impatient drivers to make deliveries. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

The entire staff was friendly, compassionate, and very willing to help others. It was my first time at that location. Thank you, Ms. Addison.

As an intravenous drug user, it's incredibly important to find a free needle exchange program that will allow me to obtain fresh, clean, needles while prioritizing the philanthropic spirit that this city and country were founded on. Thank you again for giving me an opportunity to feed my addiction in a safe, healthy, clean, and effective manner that keeps me free of blood borne pathogens and danger zones.

Let me begin by saying the smallest amount of effort would go such a long ways. Our nightly meals are usually quite bad. I can only imagine a 3 year old is cooking most meals with the least effort possible. However once every 2 weeks something comes out not as horrible. Come on guys you can very easily create something besides vomit.

A community of kind, inclusive, people who care about one another.

Great community center to help people in the neighborhood with food, clothing, medicine, tokens, legal assistance, etc. Check them out when you get the chance!

I eat at the MLk library location and I love it. Great people and great food. If you’re at or near the library, give them a try. The chicken and wild rice soup of the day is delicious!

Sharing a box of food for people in need.

Wonderful facility and services. Very friendly staff. Only issue is you can’t make medical/dental appointments more than one day ahead of time and there are long phone waits to make such appointments; must be staffing related. Minus one star for this. Thanks for all you do!

Urban outreach helps me and family thought the winter and summer I've the workers and the prayers that they have

I think it's unfair on the review of Serina Johnson below me. I was there that day and she was very rude to Christopher while he was being cooperating with the lady but she was being very difficult because she was denied ERAP trying to scam the system. Christopher is VERY professional and I thank him for helping me and others in our community. Shame on you serina. Do better sis.

The front desk clerk Christopher needs to chill. When he gets overwhelmed he's very rude. The social worker for emergency help was very helpful and nice.

The volunteers are very friendly and helpful. The various services provided and definitely community needed.

This organization does a lot for the community. It is good to know that they are there when needed. The HRA dog food pantry and vaccination clinic is a Blessing

Mr. Bobby Brandon was so sweet and I was having a rough start to my day and just to hear someone being compassionate goes along way so thank you for your exceptional customer service!!! Keep up the great work!!!

I was professionally greeted and introduced to a case worker who provided me with impeccable service. All my requests were filled and I was also enrolled in a Senior program. Thank you for your service.

Food boxes were great!

A truly beautiful and inspirational facility and mission. I had the pleasure of helping pack 300+ meals with Food & Friends and I was absolutely amazed at the degree of organization, efficiency and selflessness I witnessed displayed by the staff and volunteers here. Everyday, they pack hundreds - if not thousands - of medically tailored and cooked meals to those who need them. I fully intend to devote more time and energy to this organization in the near future.

Feeds people animals and others God fearing people humane society there toooo

My first time going there and it wasn't embarrassing or anything of that nature. The workers there was extremely helpful and respectful, I can't wait to go again next month. All you need is you state ID, if it's your first time like me then take a copy of a current utility bill and if you've kids take a school record I tried my son's social security but they don't accept that or birth certificate. Please if your family have to eat don't be proud like I was the help is out there take it. You've to love the inner city help for us or low income residents. Peace and Blessing y'all keep reading my input.

Employee Kenya Douglas wasn't helpful and disposition is very unpleasant. She didn't take time to review the information I submitted and really showed no interest in assisting me. At one point she referenced leaving the organization so wouldn't be around much longer. In addition, I called yesterday and she lied by saying her supervisor was on vacation when I asked to speak with her. This was verified by another employee minutes later when I called again and was informed the supervisor was there. Employees like her make it difficult for people that actually need their assistance. It was very discouraging however, definitely an eye opener for myself going forward. I hope someone from this organization view my comment and respond proactively so no one else will be faced with this type of situation.

I was referred to Salvation Army to attempt to get help with burial assistance. I had to call several times before I was able to speak with someone as opposed to leaving a message. The woman I spoke with Ms. Simms, was rude and unprofessional. She expressed no compassion or empathy for someone dealing with an already difficult time. The attitude she displayed was simply "it is what it is" either take it or leave it. I tried to be as patient and understanding as possible. However the service I received from Ms. Simms was completely unbearable. She should not be able to work in such a field with such a nasty attitude, not only to myself but my family as well. Being that this was my first applying for the assistance I was unsure of the process and Ms. Simms was of no help she rushed information and even hung the phone up while I was mid sentence for additional questions. If this is the type of help to be expected than I do not want it and will GLADLY spread the word of the INSOLENCE expressed when I called for help. I was able to speak with a supervisor who went above and beyond to assist my family with the help needed. He was amazing! So if by any chance you ever need assistance and the name you hear is Ms. Simms, for the better good of yourself and to avoid having to lower yourself to her level. ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!

My experience with the staff was awesome; however the volunteer legal staff was the worst. For basic legal issues, a basic guide should be provided with FAQs at minimum. A simple checklist of the process with references for low-income, veterans and people with disabilities would be a great start for issues like bankruptcy. I was only provided a link, the same link that I shared in my session - so, therefore I received nothing, but a waste of my time.

Great place to do community service projects for kids 12 and above. My wife , daughter and I spent New Year’s Eve there preparing food for the needy.

DC Central Kitchen is the nation’s first and leading community kitchen that recycles food from around Washington, D.C. They create great impact by combating hunger and creating opportunity for the unemployed. They welcome volunteers as "Hungerfighters" in helping to transform wasted food into balanced meals for our community.

My friends, family and I have the best time supporting this organization. Their mission statement is so in-line with core foundation everyone should possess: humility. The staff and volunteers will make your experience unforgettable!

I'm a big fan of this Center and Food Bank. I am deeply appreciative of their support in the community mid city region wide and greater part of Washington DC of all people. This is what hope allows me to see. I sure hope to see the offices renovated and expanded for helping a greater population coming up in the near future in our city and supporting those who are struggling with poverty and housing and food. Bread for the city hits home a grateful year of support.

The entrance is around the back of the building. My group of 30 volunteers had a wonderful time with the kitchen staff helping prepare meals. It was inspiring and humbling.

Outstanding job doing the Lords work reaching out to the people with the word of God

What a great blessing this organization is to so many in need. 2800 plus meals are provided daily to those in need in DC. Think about those who are hungry and not healthy living on the edge. These volunteers are a godsend.

I had a nice experience there. Pastor Will is always very kind and helpful to anyone looking for ministry

For the last 5 years since I moved to DC, I've been volunteering at the DC Central Kitchen. I first did it during holidays and times of unemployment--so as to remember my blessings. The staff is incredible and as a professional person--it is so wonderful to work with my hands, peeling potatoes, cleaning fish or making a vat of vegetable soup with a thousand different ingredients in it. The foreman are respectful and professional and though the work is hard--you leave the kitchen feeling gratified that your labor contributed to the almost 5,000 meals PER DAY prepared for needy families in DC. So volunteer!

Volunteered here on my birthday last year and I may just do it again! What a great way to spend a bday. The people here are committed to the mission of feeding those in need; they are kind, generous, and pleasant to work with. And the food is so delicious! I enjoyed lunch with the other volunteers at the end of the day.

The DC Central Kitchen is an amazing place. I have volunteered a few times in the kitchen preparing meals. It is a wonderful experience to work in the kitchen with the DC Central Kitchen staff and program trainees. We got to chop, peel, and package vegetables and other parts of the meal. This is a great place to volunteer with a big group of friends or with your office.
