Buckle up, time-travel enthusiasts, because the DAR Museum and Library in D.C. is the ultimate historical playground. It's a whimsical blend of period rooms and artifacts that will make your inner history nerd squeal with delight. From colonial bedrooms to Victorian parlors, you'll experience interior design through the ages. If you are in the 23 and me crowd and you're looking for old relatives, the library holds a ton of census records. The staff, with their encyclopedic knowledge and witty banter, are like time-traveling tour guides who'll leave you laughing and learning. So, put on your tri-cornered hat, polish your manners, and prepare for a hilarious journey through history, powdered wigs included.
Lovely place. The library and period rooms are beautiful and the docent Ms Bowery was so helpful - she brought me on a very nice 30 min tour
Fantastic and historic location for events. I graduated here for my degree from Johns Hopkins and it won't be one I forget.
I really loved Dr. Strollo! He was such a joy to listen to. Definitely the best part of the experience there!!! Anyone who goes definitely should talk to Mr. Strollo. His library of knowledge is endless!!! 😝😝😝
Gorgeous building, helpful staff, and so quiet. We had the whole place to ourselves. The period rooms each have booklets highlighting specific pieces, as well as other facts. The third floor had doll houses and a toy exhibit, plus a hallways of kid friendly hands on activities. My girls loved creating their own virtual period rooms and making portraits. I could easily have spent a full day! The library is visually stunning, especially on a sunny day.

Good people trying to help make the world a better place.
There are more than thirty meticulously furnised period rooms to view, bringing American history alive in the halls of the DAR museum. A map is available, so you can go at your own pace, and there are booklets in each room in case you're curious about an individual object or piece of furniture. Period decorations make Christmas a special time to visit.

From the moment I reached out to DC Engaged, Meghan and Donna answered all questions with patience, compassion and expertise. They worked within my budget to find a venue, florist and DJ by advocating on me and my wife’s behalf. A month before the wedding, the venues make-up artist fell through. Instead of shed tears and runny mascara, Meghan saved the day! She reached out to one of her trusted contacts and booked us a new make-up artist the same day. On the morning of my wedding, I was able to relax with my bridesmaids knowing Meghan and Donna were there. They communicated with all vendors to ensure the day was perfect and took care of all details, big and small. If you are looking for an affordable wedding planner, look no further. Thank you both for bringing my wedding vision to life!

I seen there advertising and did a small amount of information on them.
I would not donate to this to help refugees. But that's because of what I found doing some research.
Thank you for reading.
The Daughters of the Revolution (DAR) Museum on 17th Street is a very good attraction for those with an interest in American history. Opening Hours are 8.30am-4pm (M-F) and 9am-5pm (ST). The museum is closed on Sundays and Federal Holidays.

Here you can explore three floors with 31 rooms, each individually decorated by DAR members from various States. Each room focuses on a designated time period and includes furniture and historical items of that era, allowing visitors a glimpse into the American household past, across the country. Rooms come with panel information and brochures pointing out important items you can view within.

There is a collection with revolutionary war items at the DAR as well. One of the most interesting things to see at present is the rare Broadside of the U.S. Constitution (until 9 July). Of the approximately 200 of these documents which were created back in 1776, only 26 are known to have survived.

Surrounding this Broadside are drafts of the constitution with side notes. The condition of these drafts is superb, penmanship and ink are easy to read. In all, the Broadside of the Constitution and the various drafts are remarkable items to see if you have any interest or even a mild curiosity in the founding of the United States as well as its early history.

I very much enjoyed the 90 minutes spend at the DAR Museum viewing the many State period gallery rooms and Declaration of Independence document that were on display. This was a surprisingly high impact (and free) museum, a place I look forward to visiting again during future visits to D.C.
Love, love, love. This space is just beautiful and so multi-purpose. If you haven't toured the site in person, DO! Their website photos don't do it justice, the location is gorgeous in person and right in the heart of DC. The DAR has several spaces that rent by the hour so you can mix and match your spaces to fit your event. The portico is a fab covered space for an outdoor dance floor (even into the late fall!). Plus you can dance under the towering Washington Monument (Doesn't get much more DC than that.). The event staff at the DAR are very responsive and are delighted to have you. We loved having our wedding here and the ability to come back and visit the historical site whenever we want for years to come. (We even had DC food trucks pull up right outside which made for great catering.)
You can do better
Very nice architecture inside
