Visiting Milan Duomo with my family, including two kids, was an overall okay experience, but a few aspects left us with mixed feelings.
The cathedral itself is a breathtaking masterpiece, with its intricate architecture and stunning design. Our kids were fascinated by the grandeur of the exterior and the history behind this iconic landmark. However, our enthusiasm was somewhat dampened by the extensive security measures at the entrance. While safety is undoubtedly important, the level of scrutiny felt exaggerated, making the entry process a bit tedious, especially with children in tow.
One major downside during our visit was the ongoing renovation work. It impacted the overall ambiance and obstructed some of the views, diminishing the full splendor of this historical site.
Additionally, the cost of going up in the tower with the elevator was a bit steep (17 EUR / person if I remember correctly). We opted to skip the tower ascent due to the high cost, which was disappointing considering it's one of the main attractions.
On a positive note, the interior of the cathedral was awe-inspiring, and exploring the surrounding square was a delightful experience. The vibrant atmosphere and surrounding shops and cafes added to the charm of the visit.
In conclusion, Milan Duomo is undoubtedly a must-visit, but potential visitors should be aware of the renovation work and be prepared for the associated challenges. The security measures could be more streamlined, and the pricing for additional experiences like the tower ascent may need reconsideration, particularly for families with children.

It's not easy to say something meaningful after 141k+ wonderful reviews. Yes, of course I agree: one of the World's most beautiful Cathedral. Photos, videos, reviews, etc. wouldn't give justice. DO NOT miss it. And allow at least 3 hours (a full day wouldn't be unreasonable) and buy all the tickets and visit the top (climbing stairs is actually fun if that's your idea of fun but elevators are available). Quick advice: make sure you buy authentic tickets, do not buy anything outside the official ticket booth. Is it cheap? OK you guessed it right: NO. Is it worth it? Hell YES. Have fun.

You should buy the ticket online on the Official website (cheaper). The line for ticket often took 30min+. Worth visiting the rooftop and museum. The stairs for rooftop is narrow and long, elevator is recommended for elders ( it only cost 7euro more each person). Some of the places there were under construction

Purchase tickets in advance
Great cathedral with beautiful, ornate designs throughout the whole building
We took the lift to the roof - was very busy but beautiful. Be mindful that it was all stairs back down.
The cathedral museum is also worth a visit & part of your ticket price - a good way to see the ornate detail up close
The only place in Milano with chatolic mass in English. Sunday at 10.30. They even have QR code for following the mass on cellphone.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful cathedrals you will ever visit and one of my personal favourites. It’s definitely worth checking out and getting the ticket for the roof. I would highly suggest you pay for the entire package, it’s most certainly worth the time and money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you visit Milan and don’t see this cathedral I seriously feel bad for you and I consider it not seeing Milan at all. Lots to do in and around this area. Make the trip to the Duomo, I promise you, you won’t regret it.

The history of the Duomo was amazing. Definitely recommend buying tickets early as crowds can happen quickly. We went on a rainy day and waiting in line in the rain was not fun but we still got in fairly quickly. I do recommend buying tickets for the lift. If you hate going up stairs to the roof, then definitely take the lift.

Took a tour of the Church.
It was in English and the guide was very nice and clear.
The cost includes: the tour, passage to the roof via the stairs (they charge extra for the elevator), the museum and a nearby famous church.
The line for the stairs was very short. Not more than a few minutes.
Get ready for a long climb, so you better be in shape 🙂
Once on the roof, the view is excellent.
Note that getting off the roof might take time as there are lines of visitors waiting to get off.

They charged us €45 per adult. The kids were free.

A beautiful Cathedral. Spend the money and go to the roof. Marvel at the detail of the art and workmanship. Get a wonderful view of Milan. Sit and relax up high. Don't cheat yourself and miss this. Be aware that because of demand, entry is by appointment, so be prepared.

Wonderful and a must place to visit. It is even better if you climb up and see the view from up. If you don't like climbing up using stairs, please buy the ticket, including the elevator, beforehand (it was sold out when we went there).

Don’t get me wrong the building itself and it’s materials as well as how it’s been shaped is majestic ! the rooftop and entry experience is not the best. From entry staff isn’t nice, luggage is not allowed and despite having a space they do not offer to help with that. It’s very very crowded once you get to the rooftop and it obscures the view. Ironically, you enjoy it better from outside than being within. 13€ to walk stairs and look at the city from above is a bit overrated. And, I believe that you are not having anything else more than what others are seeing from outside. Church interior is just like any other Catholic church and rooftop is good IF less people but not special as it’s not giving a different perspective than what you see when you’re below
It is worth a visit even if you are not planning to go to see The Last Supper. Gorgeous basilica with a stunning dome attributed to Bramante, the 1st architect of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. Its geometry is a fiest for eyes and mind. From inside especially.

A cool and nice experience. Better to have tickets booked prior to your visit through the online portal of their website. The rooftop terrace is amazing specially at Sunset time. The staff there are helpful if you get lost or need help or any information. The terrace is a must visit along with the duomo from inside. They have a ticket paid for lift instead of using the stairs. Highly recommended and a must visit if you are in Milano
Wonderful and spiritual Church, great paintworks, prime location with lovely square and cosy cafes

This is a great place to visit, well of course. The roof top experience is good but a bit underwhelming. There are no clear view of the cathedral from the top many areas are under construction. The inside is whole other experience and definitely worth the visit.

It’s also a great place to just walk around and absorb it all in when it’s not too busy. I came back to the area twice in my less than 24 hour visit.

GET THERE EARLY!
We got there early and was not crowded. Very beautiful historical sacred place 💕
I could honestly stare at this all day and never get tired of all its fine details. To see it in person is truly breathtaking.
We bought tickets online, we also got tickets to go up top to the roof and in the basement. We got up to the roof using the elevator and we really had fun.
We went on Sunday, and we enjoyed Duomo Mass.

Astonishing, incredible restoration work was done to reveal a remarkable scene of Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. Observation time limited by 15 minutes. Must be seen in a lifetime. Reservation of tickets has to be done in advance on website.

The most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen. To go on the top by foot needs just 150 steps and then another 100 to go to the terrace. The view is magnificent. All these details, big and small figures in marble, are impressed. The cathedral inside is also quite interesting. But don't forget to be dressed something not too short and with yhe sleeves. It's a catholic church and they are very precious. Better to book a ticket on the web side with a selection of time slot.

Massive and beautiful cathedral. The inside is breathtaking and the outside is filled with so many intricate details. There is something to see everywhere.
Archealogical site was also interesting to visit.

Would recommend buying tickets from the ticket machine. Buying online costs 1€ extra convenience fee.

The religious church is the main attraction in Milan.
An awe-inspiring work of true grandeur. The building is adorned with an abundance of sculptures on both sides. I was truly privileged to have had the opportunity to witness such breathtaking views from different vantage points.
Nice church from 15th century, actually two churchs that were buit one after the other and combined together. Nice Fresco old wallpsintings

Overwhelmingly, breathtakingly huge cathedral with so many beautiful sculptures within. You'll seriously be blown away by its size. You enter and wow! Then you walk around and there's even more cathedral at every turn! Multiple prayer stations. Enormous, gorgeous stained glass windows. How in the world did they build this place?! Note: if you're able to walk/climb stairs, take the rooftop tour. It's amazing, the detail on the spires and the view of the city from the roof are worth the long climb to the top.

Beautiful Cathedral indeed. I had visited this alone 8 years back and wanted to take my spouse & friends to see this too. Hence, in our trip to Italy Milan was added basically to see this beautiful cathedral! Visiting during the day including going to the terrace was as expected. The views from the top are also very mesmerising. The stained glass work looks beautiful from inside. However, the magic was in the night. It looks just too gorgeous with all the lighting on the facade. Happy that we went there again in the night time!

As one of the largest churches in the world, the Duomo di Milano is something that has to be seen to be believed. The scale is tough to fathom u til you realize how small you are inside of a church that has a capacity of 40,000 people. I'd highly recommend paying the small fee to do the roof visit, where you'll find stunning architecture and statues.

Very nice view and definitely worth the money. It is the main attraction in Milan and by buying a ticket to enter you also get free access to the museum. Try to arrive early, because they have different time slots with a limited amount of people allowed to enter at the same time. Also don’t forget to cover you shoulders and knees, because it is still a religious church. Otherwise you will have to buy the disposable cover-ups there that are available at the ticket office.
Such a beautiful place when I accidentally stumbled upon it. The special room shown in the photos is not too be missed. I suggest to sit down in the Pew and observe and appreciate the small detaila

Cathedral is amazing. Impressive, big, beautiful. Definitely recommend to go on the terrace (rooftop). We bought ticket on the web but we still had to wait in line for a while to get in. The line was long, but it was quickly decreasing. Worth every euro.
Wow. I was visiting Milan and although had gone to churches and cathedral's in the area and surrounds, I looked for an English speaking mass as today was a special anniversary. What a beautiful church community I was blessed to come across today. Other reviews said 10.30 am mass Sundays. Its 11. But those minutes witnessing a beautiful Christian community prepare for celebrating Mass were just lovely. Peace lily's, palms and roses in pots blessed the alter, brought to my attention by lovely church attendant dead heading flowers before mass. Much lovelier than cut flowers in my opinion. Beautiful singing and instrument playing. Welcoming bi lingual priest. A special experience. Thank you and peace and blessings to you all
Home to the masterpiece ‘The last supper’. The church has interesting exterior design and the refractory where the fresco is practically empty.

It’s definitely worth visiting and viewing it and having a guide makes a big difference. We booked the tickets online and the whole experience was satisfactory.
We visited English Catholic Mass here. Be aware that Milan diocese uses different rite than majority of other places - it means that readings are different.

After the Mass we had a great conversation with Father who is residing there. He is also listening to confessions.
It is certainly one of the best known churches in Milan. Externally I really liked the architect but internally I found it quite bare, it does not say all that much! Still worth a visit anyway! To visit Leonardo's Last Supper you need to book it well in advance via website and you need to pay to enter it (it is quite expensive btw)
Chiesa totalmente ricostruita dopo i bombardamenti bellici, in stile neoromanico, con vari mosaici
During my visit to Italy in 2006, I had the privilege of experiencing the awe-inspiring Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. This UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for housing Leonardo da Vinci's iconic fresco, "The Last Supper," left an indelible mark on my journey through Italy. From the beauty of its architecture to the profound artistic treasure it held within, Santa Maria delle Grazie was a testament to human creativity and spirituality.

The exterior of Santa Maria delle Grazie captivated me with its harmonious blend of Gothic and Renaissance architectural styles. The elegant façade, adorned with delicate rose windows and ornate details, beckoned me to step inside. As I entered the church, a sense of tranquility washed over me. The dimly lit interior, adorned with beautiful frescoes and intricate decorations, created a sacred atmosphere that inspired reverence.

Of course, the highlight of my visit was experiencing Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper." Standing before this masterpiece, I was captivated by the artist's genius. The delicate brushstrokes, the subtle expressions on the faces of the disciples, and the masterful use of perspective all contributed to the ethereal quality of the painting. It was a humbling experience to witness this iconic work of art and to appreciate its profound historical and cultural significance.

The Santa Maria delle Grazie complex also offered serene cloisters and peaceful gardens, providing a tranquil oasis in the heart of the bustling city. It was a place of contemplation, where one could reflect on the spiritual and artistic treasures housed within its walls.

Visiting Santa Maria delle Grazie was an unforgettable journey into the depths of art, history, and spirituality. It serves as a testament to the enduring power of human creativity and the ability of art to transcend time. A visit to this remarkable site is a must for anyone seeking to appreciate the beauty of Milan and the masterpieces it houses.

My visit to Santa Maria delle Grazie was an enriching and soul-stirring experience. It deepened my appreciation for the artistic genius of Leonardo da Vinci and allowed me to connect with the profound spirituality that permeates the space. Santa Maria delle Grazie is a true gem—a place that deserves the highest accolades for preserving and showcasing one of the world's greatest artistic treasures.
Beautifull glass windows. Only three stars, because I attended a service. They served an eucharistia/offertoria, I joined the line too. The priests asked me in a strict manner "are you a catholic". I said I am christian and he gave me the hostia. However I left the church, feeling I was not welcomed. I am a christian lutheran and I believe in the same God. In His eyes, we are all equal. Ps. I always attend a service when abbroad, if I run in to one. Last fall in Vienna a totally different experience. They served "bread" and wine, and the priest was very friendly, not saying anything, but smiling gently.
Santa Maria delle Grazie - Holy Mary of Grace - is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The convent contains the mural of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. It’s considered one of Leonardo’s masterpieces and it well worth the visit when in Milan.
Pre-booked tickets are a must and it’s worth going on a guided tour as the history of the convent and the mural are fascinating - it’s really good having a guide talk through it and questions are encouraged. Access to the room is controlled so it’s never crowded as the room temperature needs to be maintained for the preservation of the mural.
Much if the convent was bombed during the Second World War but the refectory mural wall was heavily sandbagged and remained intact. A lot of restoration work has been done over the years, it’s truly fascinating.
The Last Supper painting on a church wall by DaVinci is definitely worth seeing in person as it's a priceless treasure. It's heavily booked out even in low season. Tour guides craftily snap up all the tickets in advance for month and you have to book with the ones that have them.
That being said I managed to get us tickets and it was well worth it. You need to go through security checkpoints and into a vacuum sealed room. They only allow a limited number of people at any given time. The room is kept at a certain temperature to minimize over-tourism.
The church was bombed in World War 2 but wall remained intact. So they restored the church around it again. Amazing luck or divine intervention?

Located just beside the Navigli Grande Canal best place to taking nice pictures
gorgeous church, like an others in Italy, if you walking close, visit it. nice to visit. In the naves and transepts are several artworks, including works by Camillo Procaccini depicting St Charles Borromeo Praying (1585) and other works by the painter in the Chapel of Madonna del Carmine, as well as a Madonna statue at the altar.

The high altar has a small temple inspired by that in the Milan Cathedral.

Bellissima basilica.
Very beautiful architecture, definitely worth visiting!
A masterpiece of magnificence. Lots of sculptures on each side of the building. Already felt honored to be there to witness such views from various positions.
Very suitable for walking in that area on a relaxing day!!
Make sure to book your Last Supper ticket many weeks in advance. When I planned my visit they were all sold out and I had to book an expensive 3 hour walking tour just to see it. It was still worth it and the walking tour was interesting, but if you just want to see the Last Supper, you get to do that for a much lower price if you are on time!
Dark and scary place in night
Beautiful old church.Loved con fronting it extemporaneously
Santa Maria Incoronata (Coronation of St. Mary) is a pair of churches joined together.
The church is decorated with the Visconti crest, a basilisk devouring a child, as the second identical church was sponsored by the Duke of Milan's wife, Bianca Maria Visconti.
Very calm and relaxing little town.
Very nice church with olden and modern sculptures and paintings. Many beautiful sub altars around the main Altar..
Get the 8:30 Sunday mass in English + Tagalog (Consuxted by an elderly Philipina nun.) This mass also conducts baptism for infants and elders alike.
Get to this Church by metro Green line if you stay anywhere near the Milano Centrale station area. The church is a short walk away from Lanza metro station.
Hope you enjoy the solitude and sanctitude of the church.
Theres a small flea market at the square right outside the church. You can purchase what appears to be old paintings (you need to verify if they are teal paintings and their page before you buy). You can also purchase used high fashion ladies bags from Gucci and other famous brands. Cost € 150++. These must be genuine.
Very interesting because it is one of the very few churches with 2 altars one next to the other. Apart from that it is a regular church with some nice details but not so special to be listed among Milan's must-sees.
Interesting church, mostly from outside because of the strange disposition and shape.
Inside nothing special, except some sculpture like the "pietà".
It was constructed in 1556.

Small simple church that is worth a few minutes of ur time.
Outside you don´t give a lot of value, but inside it´s really beautiful
Walked past this by accident but very pretty church with nice views of the canal at sunset. Felt inviting.
peccato che era chiusa
Although majority of original interiors were missing, some original tombs and frescoes survived. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.
Bellissima
A beautiful 15th century church, located very close to the newest part of the city Porta Nuova...
This canal is beautiful, a better choice for a walk than Naviglio Pavase. There are bars and shops, and offers great views at sunset.
