Well well well,

The Zoos are one of the amazing places to visit during travel to any destinations.

The zoo describes the mirror of the city's your are visiting.

Yerevan Zoo is one of the healthiest zoos I have visited in the region.

Extended to the upper hills by giving the animals the proper spaces.

Few comments and suggestions to the management :

- It's Winter time and you know very well some of the animals kept inside because of the cold and some of their places are renovating and their cage are totally kept empty. Why full entrance fees applied? Literally we didn't see not more than 4 or 5 animals in the whole zoo..
Either you inform at the entrance About the situation inside or provide 50% discount. (just fyi this is the rule of the Zoos worldwide).

- Hire more friendly staff.

Overall we enjoyed the cold weather while walking in an empty park.

Cheers 🍻

Great vista view, and well kept piece of history still in use to date
Fantastic Zoo with all sorts of Animals, Kids will love this place....tickets are not expensive as well....lot of construction going on inside now
A very holy and surreal place to visit.

The views of the monastery if simply breathtaking and amazing.

You can keep your camera away and not take a picture of the views from here.

A must visit place for any tourist visiting Armenia.

A very peaceful place with breathtaking views.

The structure could be seen from miles apart and also you have gorgeous views of the mountains and the gorge from here.

A must visit place for the tourists in Armenia.

Will always recommend with double thumbs up!! 👍👍
Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Armenia, Hovhannavank Monastery stands as a testament to the country's rich cultural heritage and architectural prowess. Perched on the edge of the mesmerizing Kasakh River canyon, the monastery offers breathtaking views of the surrounding natural beauty. Its harmonious blend of red and black tuff, a volcanic rock native to the region, adds to its visual appeal.

Founded in the 5th century, Hovhannavank has undergone several renovations over the centuries, each leaving its mark on the monastery's architectural style. The 13th-century Surb Karapet Church, with its intricate carvings and impressive proportions, is a highlight of the complex. The monastery's gavit, or narthex, is particularly noteworthy for its unique 12-columned rotunda bell tower.

Beyond its architectural splendor, Hovhannavank exudes an aura of serenity and tranquility. The gentle breeze whispering through the canyon, the soothing sounds of birdsong, and the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside create an atmosphere conducive to introspection and spiritual reflection.

A visit to Hovhannavank is not just a journey through time and architecture; it's an immersion into the heart of Armenia's cultural and spiritual heritage. The monastery's serene ambiance, coupled with its historical significance, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a deeper connection with Armenia's soul.

More people in the world should know about places like these. No matter what denomination, no matter what belief, just being inside of a 5th century monastery is speechless. It's a great opportunity for introspect and self reflection.

Last century's russian art (period before the revolution of 1917). Excellent private collection of the artworks.
Fantastic place, beautiful architecture and stunning views of a canyon. About 30 min drive from Yerevan.
This is the one of different monastery in Armenia. Part of the monastery caved in the mountain. Inside is well preserve.

Cherry blossom in early summer is beautiful.

These poor animal's

I recently visited a local zoo with high hopes of a memorable experience, but I left feeling utterly disappointed and disheartened. My visit to this zoo was nothing short of a disaster, and I can't help but share my negative review to warn others from making the same mistake.

First and foremost, the conditions in which the animals were kept were simply appalling. Many enclosures were cramped and filthy, with little to no consideration for the well-being and comfort of the animals. It was disheartening to witness majestic creatures confined to small spaces that barely resembled their natural habitats.

To make matters worse, the lack of proper maintenance and care was evident throughout the entire zoo. . Some animals seemed visibly distressed, pacing back and forth or displaying signs of behavioral issues, which was deeply distressing to witness. It was clear that the zoo's staff neglected their duty to provide a safe and enriching environment for the animal

The organization and layout of the zoo were chaotic and confusing. Poor signage and a lack of clear pathways made navigation unnecessarily difficult. Some exhibits were closed without any explanation, and the limited variety of animals on display was underwhelming. It seemed

In conclusion, I strongly advise against visiting this particular zoo. The conditions in which the animals are kept are unacceptable, the educational value is virtually non-existent, and the overall experience is incredibly disappointing. Save your time and money by exploring alternative options that prioritize animal welfare and offer a more enriching and enjoyable experience for visitors.
Great exhibition, must see when visiting Yerevan.

Nice place, quite big zoo with lots of different species, including elephant, wolves, bears and lots of local animals. Easy to spend half day. Suits for kids also, crowded on summer weekends

Manjša jama (skalni previs), relativno lahko dostopna. Obiskovalci delajo iz kamenčkov stolpiče... Seveda, brez vstopnine.
Pretty similar to the other small churches spread around the country, but this one has a great looking small canyon behind the building. This is definitely the highlight.

The building itself is amazing, and given that it isn't very far from Yerevan, it is pretty great.

Downside is that there's no toilet there. If you need a toilet, you have to call the people in the house right next to the church and pay 200 dram. Then, they will open the gate between the house and the church and let you use their toilet.
Hovhannavank - the view is very nice from there.
Some of the animals (elephant, lynx, owl, wildcats, and the one on the picture attached), have very little space. The one on the picture has a glass cage that seems less than 60 cm in width and less than 100cm in length. He seemed extremely stressed. I realise that the zoo may have very limited resources. But in that case it would be better to hand over some of the animals to another zoo that can keep them properly.

Amazing collection of russian art including sculpture, graphics and paintings. Real cultural gem stone survived during turmoils and ordeals Armenia had overcame since early 90th. Place to visit in Yerevan for sure.
This is next to Geghard. Walk a bit further and you see this cool collection of stones. Check out my pictures/videos.

Viele Straßencafés.
The church is decent but the real reason for visiting this place should be the walk to the canyon behind. It takes about 3hrs to complete the route and it's not very well marked. In order not to get lost it is advised to download an app "hikeArmenia" and look it up. Also, be aware of snakes and bears which live in the canyon. I did not meet any of them but we saw their footprints. Views are amazing.

Bad. I've been there last year, conditions were somewhat good, but now... the entrance (where you pay money) is clean, but when you continue... all you feel is pity for animals. Conditions are awful. Some of the animals are not there anymore (I guess they died), zones where animals STILL exist are dirty.
I approached 2 employee, one of which was wearing medical scrub and kindly shared my opinion about the zoo and tried to understand their point of view. All I realized is that they are not ready to admit any adequate feedback. Animals are not safe.

I was pleasantly surprised! Last time I went there was 2008, and I remember feeling depressed and bad for the animals afterward. This time the experience was totally different. The renovations were impressive and the animals looked happier and healthier. I enjoyed being able to get up close and interact with them and feed them. During a time of pandemics, it's a nice way to spend time out of your house while being in the open air and practicing social distancing and safety.
Very good place for hiking via several tourist routes, to be closer to wildlife and enjoy nature sounds.
Living symbol of Nature loving Armenians, this beautiful Khosrov Forest Reserve is having a history of 1700 years. Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery are on the northern periphery of this Reserve. As history goes, in the 4th century Armenian King Khosrov II created the beautiful forest on the slopes of the Geghama ridge where he bred various species of animals. Even after passing 1700 years it has enhanced its beauty. Apart from beautiful mountains and forests, the Khosrov Forest Reserve has many historical sites, monuments around the Reserve. They are, Aghjot's Vank, Kakavaberd Fortress, Havut's Tar, Azat Caves, Azhdahak, Garni Gorge, Church of Garni and Garni Temple. Visit all the places. Be blessed. Good luck.
The place is a very good view point and the cool wind, the shade of the tree and the sound of the birds are the main attractions of the place, Beautiful sights, different cultures, foods, customs and lifestyles are all unforgettable sights and memories...
Khosrov Forest State Reserve, is a nature reserve in Ararat Province of Armenia. The reserve is one of the oldest protected areas in the world having a history of about 1700 years. It was founded in the 4th century (334-338) by the order of Khosrov Kotak, King of Armenia who gave it his name. It was founded to improve the natural climatic conditions of adjacent territories of Artashat - the capital city of Armenia of the given period and the newly established city of Dvin to ensure conservation and enrichment of flora and fauna species; serve as a ground for royal hunting, military exercises and entertainments.

This area was designated as a state reserve in September 1958 and covers around 23213.5 ha at elevations from 700 to 2800 m above sea level. The Khosrov reserve protects juniper (Juniperus polycarpos) and oak (Quercus macranthera) forests from Tertiary Period, arid associations of semi-desert and phrygana landscapes and other Mediterranean relict plant ecosystems as well as the genetic fund of rare animals and plants adapted to the reserve conditions. It also includes wetlands of international importance. Khosrov Forest State Reserve, thanks to its numerous peculiarities, is unique not only in Armenia but also in the whole Caucasus ecoregion.
It was my first time visiting this beautiful church, because of wedding. Inside and surrounded areas were clean and well maintained. It was beautiful sunny day, even though little windy, but the view of canyon and surroundings were breathtaking, one of the best places to visit.
Very cheap to visit. Has a variety of art, upstairs and downstairs. Only stairs to the top. Beautiful art and the gift shop had reasonable prices. They also have a tour guide option. Loved it!
This place - Savhmosavank has several terrain features - deep ravine, some trees, hills, fields to the horizont, mountains and rocks. The castle is falling apart, but you can see the main structure.
It's one of the best places to visit in Armenia. The church of 13 century with panoramic view is one of the many sightseeings you can have outside Yerevan. It's 37km away from Yerevan and you can reach there in 40-50min.
This is a place you can have heavy rain and thunderstorms then sun and beautiful sceneries in one hour. Here one can spend leisure time enjoying nature, one can research rare herbs and animals ( details you can find in khosrov State reserve web page). Unforgettable, inspiring and amazing experience is guaranteed.

It's very close to Yerevan and is definitely a place that you should visit when you come to Armenia. It's beautiful, quiet and is set in a breathtaking location.

Great historical place near Yerevan(20 minutes away) highly recommended for visiting, especially in Summer.

Davtashen, also known as Davitashen or Davidashen, is one of the 12 districts of Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.
Located on the right bank of Hrazdan River, Davtashen is bordered by the districts of Ajapnyak and Arabkir from the south, and the Kotayk Province from the north.
Beautiful landscape and place in Armenia. Not very far from Yerevan. Perfect for one day trip.

I've been in Yerevan Zoo 5 years ago. So much have been changed. There are very few cages left there. Most of the animals live in open range cages. The Zoo has mach bigger land and more happy animals.
Interesting little museum, where was shown the life of an Armenian leader. Pleasant to listen to the stories of his life, look at his pictures, historical and important moments. Karen Drmirchyan contributed his life to make Armenia country where people who are working in the art sphere could find their place. I hope everyone who is interested in Armenian history would visit this museum and talk to Ms. Rima

Relatively small but nice museum. With no knowledge of Russian painters I enjoyed the variety of painting styles/techniques exhibited. Certainly worth visiting.
Only one publicly accessible trail, short and quite uninteresting.
Probable much better with organized tours.
