Best Sandwich shops in Australia

My office and I order here ATLEAST once a week and are never let down. All staff seem so happy to be there, and are always working their behinds off! Cannot recommend this place enough! My personal favourite is the Leg Ham Sandwich, the herb mayo is addicting :)

Best sangers in town. 100% worth a detour. Hugo is the best, hands down. The caramelised carrots are to die for!

I’ve just moved back to the GC after living here for 35 years and knowing all the restaurants.

I ordered a kebab with salad, pineapple and a couple of other ingredients and the beef kebab only contained the basic salad

Service is always nice but the cooking & food assembly quality was sub-standard on 13/4 at 10:43. The young man in the kitchen was clearly disengaged & poorly trained. One of the poached eggs was totally disintegrated. The first Ham & Salad sandwich had stale bread, the replacement was just as bad; big clumps of ham, minute amounts of salad & dry bread, resulting in a partner walk out (partner regularly visits other Miss Mauds who make the sandwich well).

We won’t be going again until you can retrain your cook to NOT think he can get away with this sort of poor food preparation!

A friend and I regularly have coffee here, it is always hot and delicious. Service is quick and friendly.. Leo particularly greeting us with a big smile, professional and efficient.. perfect start to the day 😀

We have dined here quite a few times in the past month and must say how pleasant "all" the staff are. They are all unusually friendly and welcoming, and it's such a nice feeling to be valued. The brunch food we have enjoyed has been excellent, and the table arrangement isn't confining like many other nearby cafes. There is a sign at the entrance stating that supermarket trolleys are not permitted inside, and so there are extra tables adjacent for those that have them. That makes for such pleasant atmosphere inside without being surrounded by these big trolleys (that are in most instances empty, or contain one small handbag) such as in a nearby cafe where these trolleys are permitted and take up so much room and hassle many diners. The staff at this Miss Maud are extremely well trained, very pleasant, very respectful, and very kind.

I ordered the $12 vegi sandwich and although the size of the sandwich was large it lacked taste and substantial filling with actual vegetables ( other than salad leaves). Very little eggplant, carrot, mushroom etc

The bread was also dry and the crust hard ….almost stale

Unfortunately although this seems like good value I think they could charge a few dollars more to have a smaller sandwich with better ingredients and quality bread

Stopped by the fab Kebab House after shopping yesterday lunchtime and had a snack pack. Handily stationed side of road on chevron for that quick arrival / get away.
Snack pack well marinaded and good combination of meat and sauce.

Kabin, stands out for their exceptional service as a server. His positive attitude and professional demeanor have consistently impressed me. Will come back to fab kebab again when i am back on the coast.

Order online to have to wait in store because apparently customers who walk in are prioritised over online customers...I will never be buying a sub here again ! I'll goto mango hill wayyy better service always ready on pick-up!

This is regarding the "FREE" 6-pack of cookies on Valentines Day 2024. I feel like Subway is running one giant scam. They can send out as many coupons as they want but if they put down "only accepted at participating locations", then they have absolutely no obligation to honor it. I'm honestly surprised that there isn't a law that protects consumers from acts like this because this honestly feels like false advertising to me. Support says - Participation in these vouchers is at the discretion of the restaurant as each Subway location is individually owned and operated by a franchisee. Whilst we hope all Subway franchises participate in these offers, as there is great benefit to the restaurant and their guest, we are unable to mandate they do so. Unfortunately, we have no list of participating stores as these changes daily. Always avoid this store until they change both ridiculous policies, corporate and local store.

Super disappointed. I ordered a veggie sandwich and at first I thought, wow look at how big the sandwich is. Sadly, it was undercooked, no seasoning and no sauce and very bland. The mushrooms were literally raw. It was edible once I took off half the ingredients - but still bland and overpriced. Not even a bit of salt and pepper. Wouldn’t recommend.

I’ve been coming here since you opened in Alexandria, and today was the last day I’ll be ordering from you. I paid $20 for a takeaway schnitzel salad, with rocket, lettuce, tomato and cabbage removed, with eggplant and zucchini added. I received ONE slice of zucchini and three slices of eggplant, 45% of a schnitzel, definitely not even half a schnitzel, and two teaspoons of potato….all in all barely enough for a base salad let alone a salad where I got charged EXTRA for absolutely ZERO extra. You should be ashamed for taking your loyal customers for a ride. This is blatant price gouging. Oh and thanks for making the boxes smaller too…..cherry on top to receive even less again!

Just arrived to this subway, no other customers in site. The girl that served me was more focused on rushing me out of the store then taking pride in making a sub, not enough product on the sub besides the salami stuff. Was like slop.

A great little cafe if you're in Knox Shopping Centre, and after a coffee & sandwich. I'm currently sitting here at the moment early on a Saturday morning, having a creamy coffee and lovely toasted sandwich. It cost $10.90 for the two, which is about what you pay at most places for the same these days. Plenty of seating, friendly service, and tasty food. They're positioned right next to the main food court in the centre, so it's a big open area, and the only possible negative might be it could get a bit noisy. But at the moment, it's great!

People are way too harsh on this place. It's good for a Miss Maud.

I ordered a bacon and cheese sausage roll and a hot chocolate. Ultra basic breakfast. They went the extra mile and gave me a sausage roll with sauce, a salad and a cute little flag. Hot chocolate came with two marshmallows as well.

I never write bad reviews but this place really deserves one.
I'll start with the "service" - I'm not sure what was happening in this guys life but he certainly wasn't happy or friendly. He was wearing rubber gloves taking our order and handling money....same gloves were worn when he was making the food...I hate to think how long he had them on🤢

I ordered a gozleme for $16!!!! What actually came out was a squashed kebab. It was disgusting and the worst gozleme I have ever had.

Hopefully the owner can read this and educate his staff about customer service and hygiene.

I ordered an iced mocha and after taking a few sips, I realised there wasn't enough ice. I approached a slightly older gentleman at the register and requested more ice. He said: "You should have ordered iced latte as it has ice." I retorted: "So iced mocha doesn't have ice?" Conceding, he put more ice into the drink.

To this gentleman, you work in the hospitality industry, if you don't know how to be nice, what business do you have taking orders?

was really excited to try the panini here given all the raving reviews and photos which got me excited to order mine. but unfortunately I had a bit of a miss and was disappointed with what I got - bread was dry and there was barely any filling, had a few mouthfuls that was just bread, cheese and pesto.

Very busy shop...has good reviews and tried for the first time earlier this week.

My combination noodle salad was ok...a little lacklustre compared to others around Adelaide. Didn't quite hit the mark. Not many herbs and meat was a bit scarce....spring roll overcooked and oily.
When i ordered? I also asked for dinein and expected a proper bowl abd cutlery, but got a takeaway cardboard bowl instead. The cafe sua da was on point.

The lady on the counter seemed to be in a bad mood, either that or she doesn't like serving people.

Being a customer of subway, you often you are served by teens or young adults and they rush through and don’t really care about how your sandwich is made. Tiana, you took your time today to make sure my order was just perfect. Asking questions that I’ve never received before like “would you like salt and pepper on your tomato?” Yet you were still time efficient - I love that!

Although you just made my husband and I some lunch, you didn’t know that today we were having a bad day and your smile was infectious. You apologised for the wait time yet you would have been the fastest and most efficient staff member I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with at Kallangur Subway. You take genuine care in a job that some would just make minimum effort in.

Just wanted to hope that YOU have a lovely day and let you know you’re excellent at what you do and you brightened our day. Keep doing you and to your boss - I would definitely recommend that you do something special for Tiana as she is a great employee that deserves to be celebrated. It’s obvious that she genuinely cares for your store and wants to give your customers the best service.

Outside on a sunny day enjoying home cooked authentic Italian food with delicious Italian wine. Loved the service and the fact that the menu was made up of a small number of hand crafted food made as authenticity as possible. Even the grappa was home made.

Best Banh mi! Roll is crunchy but doesn’t shatter in your mouth, the lemongrass tofu is next level. Good amount of heat and delicious pickled veg. Loads of coriander and just saucy enough. The combination noodle bowl (roast pork and lemongrass chicken) was also outstanding, the pork is spot on, chicken is so tasty and the salad was fresh. Highly recommend 👍🏻

A beautiful family owned Italian restaurant, lively atmosphere, and beautiful service. They treat their customers like family and make you feel as though you’re at home! Would recommend for the beginning, middle and end of a date night!

Watched my sub being made. The server dropped the knife on the ground then picked it up and cut my sandwich with it. When asked of he dropped it and then used the same knife he said no. I then asked if he could show me the knife he dropped so i could see it was a different one being used. He wouldnt respond and tried to charge me for the sub and give it to me. When i asked again if he could prove it was a different knife he just went away to the back of the store. The same knife was then left on a bench where another employee went to use it on another customer's sub before we both told the employee, no that had been on the floor please dont use it.

Erwin served me at around 2:30, the sub was amazing as well as the service. would definitely come again.

We’ve been to Italy many times and we have to say that this cafe is one that really looks like genuine Italian place. Julia and Antonio are super nice people and deliver great service to all the customers.

first time having subway in a long time i regret buying it the serving is pathetic even if you order extra i ordered mine with extra meat on white bread toasted and salt/pepper the bread was some sort or wheat bread or something it wasn’t white there was no salt/pepper and it was not toasted i complained to uber they dont care this really is pathetic waste of money

The consistency of this place is mind blowing! Seriously delicious Vietnamese rolls and noodle salads. The pork is always crispy and fresh, the baguette rolls are never stale and the pickling method they use for the carrots is delicious.

Exceptional value for money also, $8.50 for a roll, $12.50 for a roll, spring roll and drink. The noodle salads are under $15.

An absolute hidden gem for sure, I'll be back several more times.

Nice and relaxed place to go and meet friends although the view is an office entrance/exit!

Singularly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Staff member got annoyed when I asked him to change his gloves after getting avocado on them, as I am allergic, then he ran his gloves through the salad he was part way through making for me, changed the gloves and continued, so I asked him to throw out the salad he had just contaminated.

He then refused to put a reasonable amount of salad in the salad bowl. A $9.20 salad bowl should not be empty.

Woodvale subway is usually my go to for any of my meals. This afternoon I was told the lady “won’t be too long” until she serves me. (Bare in mind it was only myself and another customer in the store) 10 minutes later another lady comes out to serve and was so incredibly rude, food undercooked and just dumped in the takeaway subway box. Don’t recommend. Previous management was better.

Just popped in for a quick salad. Fast service even though it was lunch rush, great helpful staff, fresh salads and good portions, gave me extra pickles, mayo and olives when I asked no worries... I tell you what I would go out of my way to visit this subway again. Definitely superior to other subways in my local area.

I had been serviced by a lovely lady tonight at the Kallangur subway. She went out of her way and above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I didn’t get her name, I wish I did! She deserves recognition

The fries were extremely fresh but could hardly taste the chicken salt. The burger and the beef patty was delicious, tho the salad isn’t the freshest around closing times. The shop itself is welcoming and well done. The food served here is halal, would try it again.

I wasn't going to leave a review, but after having to move quickly to a bathroom to deal with some unusual bowel movements, I felt obligated to leave a review.

I should have trusted my gut when I felt that something was off with the hash browns I was served with my breakfast this morning. I ate them anyway thinking it was in my head. I'm now sitting on that mistake.

I knew that when the food came out sooner than anticipated, it was too good to be true. Something was off, and I should have listened to my gut... well, I'm listening to my gut now, and it ain't happy with my choices.

Could not Resist I could smell the beautiful rolls baking in the oven walked in the staff are friendly and professional . I have to say this store is my preference out of all stores ive visited. The sandwiches are packed and full. You really feel like you are getting a decent sand which and not just paying for bread and a half full sandwich which is what I’ve experienced everywhere I’ve been. I’ve eaten at this place so many times and this is the first time I’ve written a review. I felt they truely deserved to be mentioned as the latest sandwiches wasn’t a fluke and it was made full but every time I’ve been they are consistently made well. Make the trip and go to this store People ! well done guys.. keep up the good service.

They have the roast pork with the crackle AND separate pork crackle only. So you can order extra crackle in your roll. They also have pate for the bread rolls. Just the right balance of everything in their rolls but the main winner is the crackle for me.

Best coffee I have ever tasted. Very Friendly customer Service. Would recommend to anyone. I definitely want to bring my friends who enjoy and appreciate good Coffee.

Such an awesome bar! Andre made us feel so welcome. We tried the vermouth tray, which was so delicious. It made the occasion feel really special.

Vermouth tray was the absolute bomb. Get amongst it. Andre was the most accomodating and attentive bar tender ever. Can’t wait to come back.

I love the chairs at the Whitfords shopping centre. Their chairs are great and comfortable!
The only thing I struggle with is the lack of vegetarian options I struggle to find something I can eat. Vegetarian, vegans or gluten sufferer's don't have a lot of options here, but their menu is still really nice!

And there's always the cakes and hot chocolate🍫 🫕

Basic, but excellent quality fresh Vietnamese food, provided fast!
Also, it is inexpensive and has some of the friendliest service going around

We’ve been wanting to try South Dowling Sandwiches for a while now but because it’s only open Monday- Friday, that’s been a challenge when we don’t work nearby. We took the opportunity on a day off to visit.

Knowing it’s popularity, we ordered online which was awesome because it meant they were ready on arrival.

Now you can get a sandwich pretty much anywhere these days, but these are more than just your regular sandwich. They are massive gourmet sandwiches, on the softest, freshest bread ever! You can get some of their listed options or alter them on the order if there’s something you can’t eat.

We ordered the “Jimmy Sandwich” on brown bread (you can opt brown or white) with Chilli chicken, lettuce, avocado, caramelised carrot, cucamber, spanish onion, rocket & red pesto. We added some pickles. A delicious and huge sandwich that kept us full for hours.

Some other examples include sandwiches with Veggies, chicken schnitzel, ham, poached chicken, smoked salmon and even special add ons of caramelised carrot or potato salad.

There’s also salads served in little takeaway boxes if you prefer. Salads are dressed with a light balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

We went to the Alexandria store and there’s a few stools to sit outside and eat.

We’re super keen to return when we get a day off!

Table was quite dirty when we seated. The young girl brought food to all tables without smiling ( she looked a bit cold). Asking for tape water she didn’t bring to us too. I think her customer service needs to be improved. Coffee was good with strong flavor.

Bought two ice creams and a drink for 17.3$

Hands down the best banh mi this side of town. Saigon Bread Rolls would give most places around Arndale a run for their money. Fillings are always generous and pate&sauce combination well-complements the asian herbs. Love how the roast pork rolls are topped with crqckling. Their pho is good.

They charge your card without telling you.

Ordered beef noodle soup and salad bowl for takeaway, well packed, tasty noodle soup, beef slices Is bit tough but ok. Good service, friendly staff, highly recommend👍

My friend & I had afternoon tea today. The service was prompt & efficient. I had apple pie with cream. The pie was delicious. I have enjoyed the Earl Grey Tea & Apple Pie. Will return for future afternoon teas & bringing family members along.

Got 3 subs delivered via Uber eats. 30 mins delievery when the distance is under 4kms. And the Ham sub had no Ham...

$15 for a small bottle of hand sanitiser, it's extortion & shameful, never shop here again!

Another stupid business that displays Amex but doesn't take it. Not to mention that it really wasn't a full one stop shop. I had to end up going to Woolies anyway with the cheaper prices.

I won't be here again.

These were what we ordered and after 20 min of wait these are what came. The waiter said only one word when she came. “Burger.” When asked why there was only one skinny chicken strip she said,”if that’s what it says on the menu then that’s what you get.” My husband ordered a sourdough melt $13.99 and that’s what he got, a thin slice of bread with spread of avocado, and scantily layered salad. Go figure.
