Pretty disappointing experience with this company. Ordered an in stock item online and chose in store pickup. They don't actually have them in stock at the store, they have to come from the warehouse, so it wasn't available for pickup when I visited the store. I asked the guy in the store's when I could get it and he told me I needed to call customer service. It took me 10 calls to reach customer service and was given a time to pickup (same day after 5:30). I went to the store and the employee told me to come back in 10/15 minutes, when I returned I was told that it wasn't included in their daily shipment and I had to call customer service again. After another handful of calls I we told that the customer service girl would hand pick the order to ensure it was included and I could get it the following day. It was there the next day but 3 visits to the store to pickup an online order is inappropriate, this type of experience is exactly why traditional retail stores are dying. 2 stars are for how kind the customer service girl was, but the company/process itself deserves 0 stars. In store employees seem to have 0 visibility or knowledge, I was told that next time I should just wait for an email instead of going when I was told to. Cheap prices on some items but not worth the effort.
Great online shopping selection, and the best prices especially app exclusive deals. One of the only places that doesnt DRASTICALLY overprice there pokemon/ other card sets. Packages arrived undamaged and on time. Will continue to buy all my collectibles through hobbiesville app until a local shop has the decency to not overcharge/scam there customers
Yesterday, it was easy to navigate through the store. The aisles are wide enough for me to make it through in my wheelchair. Finding supplies for my daughter's school assignments was a little difficult, but the staff was friendly and helpful so it was made easier.
My experience was terrible! Got a book for a present and I paid for express Fedex 1-2 day shipping hoping to get it ontime. But only in the confirmation email does it say that they have 1-3 business days processing time. Regardless of the Fedex shipping (which in every online store actually means 1-2 day shipping and take priority if a client paid for it), they took all 3 days to process/send it AND just before the weekend (Fedex is not working on weekends), so it came only in 4 more days.
All in all, the $12 Fedex 1-2 days shipping to Montreal turned into 7 days. From Wednesday, May 8 6:40am to Tuesday, May 14 1:42pm

Hobbiesville is the best place to order cards online in Canada in my opinion. One day I hope to visit their actual store if I am in the area. Had some issues with one of my orders and Regan was helpful in fixing this issue for me. I appreciate their business and recommend anybody to shop up here.
Went to get a refund for a CD because I changed my mind and the girl who worked there got pissed and said “thank you for supporting local music stores” passive aggressively as she handed me my refund receipt. Very unprofessional…
Every pick up has gone smoothly and I tend to stick around a bit and get convinced to buy other random merch.. they have a good stock of random memorabilia and are knowledgeable about their inventory. 5 stars from me!

If you're looking for something to do to occupy your time this place is going to blow your mind. So many excellent hobby options and a tonne of fantastic art materials. The staff are very present and super helpful. I can't wait to go back for another visit.
Very huge store for craft work things, Architecture drafting items, painting, threading works item, children crayons , colour schemes etc. then photo frames too. Modelling things also available here. Entire shop should colourful and catchy. Some items normal cost. Every craftsman should come and collect good quality stuff from here.
Didn't find what we were looking for but they do have pretty much every a "gamer" could be looking for. The place is kind of dingy but honeslty the people who helped made up for it.
I found that this store had a variety of dungeons and dragons books. I was looking for an older adventure and when I bought it the store clerk gave me his feedback on that particular adventure. Lots of minis and pathfinder stuff too if that floats your boat.
I know next to zero about art, which isn't very useful when I am trying to buy art supplies for my wife. Fortunately when I went in, a gentleman by the name of Mike was working. Mike took was extremely patient with me, took his time and offered his advice and guidance at every step. It was like I was taking a beginner's class in painting. He was extremely friendly and helpful and helped me ensure that my wife would get an amazing birthday present. Mike is a gem and I can guarantee that whatever he's making, it isn't enough. Thank you Mike!!!

I'm not a fan of the selection here anymore. It used to be my go-to store for my "out of the box" ideas, but now Michael's has them beat in the variety department. I also don't like that they don't have a location in Orleans. That fact alone sends me straight to their competition.
Pretty frustrating that I have to double check that things are rung up correctly. It’s not worth going to the mall over $6 but I also wouldn’t have bought the movie at $16.99, so I feel ripped off and mislead. Feel free to get in touch with me to correct this, but I waited on hold for 5 minutes after calling to see my options and this felt like the quicker approach
Ordered Battletech force packs for the first time ever from them. Had my package in 3 businesses days sharp with wonderful and careful packaging.

Singles are a bit steeper priced than other locations but great options in store for other packs.
Very big art store in St Laurent mall. Lots of options inside. I really liked that they had sections devoted to each discipline and then divided supplies into experienced and beginner supplies. It was really helpful.
I'm disappointed in the selection. And I couldn't order what I was looking for.
Very small store, but the staff were super helpful and knowledgeable about the games I was looking for to give as gifts. Not as big a selection compared to other game stores in the city, but it was cool to see the numerous options they had for chess sets available.
Hope, Regan and quiet guy in hoodie are very helpful. Product variety is great and store is easy to navigate. Lots of items available and never any issues with online orders. I like the point system online but can you give out more coupons with orders, like scratch tickets for discounts or buy one get one %10 off. Products always sealed and in good shape and online orders are always packaged and shipped with sweet sweet love and care.

I ordered a half-dozen chess accessories on their website Wednesday morning and by afternoon, they had already shipped. Received everything in perfect condition by Thursday morning!

It's a classic hobby shop. The clerks are a couple of classic nerds. You have about 60+ years of collective gaming experience in that shop. you want to start a game with seasoned players? their bulletin board is always full of dm's and players looking for games. they regularly host events playing and show casings game. the people giving 1 stars are the kind of customers you DONT want in your business (you've worked a job serving customers. You already know they type...) for any who genuinely likes tabletop gaming. Fandom II is the original in ottawa.
My wife and I went all around downtown ottawa today looking for game stores, between Fandom 2, Imaginaire, the comic book shoppe, hobbiesville, and strategy games.
The only places that are worth buying from are here (Fandom2) and Imaginaire (new @rideau center) .
Fandom 2 was a great experience, with lots to look at, with fair prices and great deals, unlike the other hobby stores.
The owner is the one who served us, and we had nothing but pleasant conversation. He DOES take credit cards, but because of the steep fees he PREFERS people to pay with debit.
The store is quite well organized, it may feel a little dingy, but it's an independent business, it smelled fine and had no glaring damage, the negative reviews are far too extreme on this place.
Overall Fandom 2 is a monument to old Gaming stores, particularly DnD, anyone who is a true fan will love this store!

In a pinch, they have all the basics, but they've downsized to 1 floor instead of 2, so they didn't have what I wanted the last 2 times I was there.
Ground Zero for nerds in Ottawa for decades. For those who get that, going here is a kind of pilgrimage to old D&D, miniatures and gaming. Inside it's a big of a gong show, the place is musty and the basement is something Stephen King would write about but, having said that, what do you want? It's got character, it's authentic, it's real. It's exactly the way you think a nerdy hobby shop would be after (30? 40?) years in business. Same with the owner. He's helpful if you ask and knows more about gaming than anyone short of Gary Gygax. if you don't get that, go to a mall.
1 star for charging $100 more for a Lorcana booster box. Also, 1 star for offering nothing for alternate art Pokémon cards or cards worth a significant amount.

This place is more like sacred ground for the gaming community than a normal gaming store. Think the movie "Up" but with rows of ancient gaming texts instead of balloons.
And yes, part of that includes the legendary, grumpy, old owner Randy. With him comes his coterie of awkward staff and hanger-ons.... And with all of that comes an audio book's worth of lore and grumpy advice/comments about this game or that as well as what's going on in the community.
If you are cool with that, enjoy your time there while it lasts, and if you are even braver, explore Randy's basement, where not even cellphone signal dares tread...
The prices are also better because they don't take credit and pass on the savings. Not the most accessible place mentally or physically so I don't blame anyone who doesn't like it there.

Went in to buy a set of die on sunday, the guy in the shop was completely unprofessional. Asked him for the dice, and he tried asking me what instruments i played, kept trying to sell me on playing metallica. And just kept avoiding my questions about the die. Finally got to see the die they had. And $16 sticker price wasnt completely unreasonable, figured id be paying maybe $19 tops after taxes, but the guy tried charging me $25 for a set of basic d&d dice, and was just going off about how the place was "non-profit"

I've been going to this DeSerres with my mom for the past 10 years and the team here is amazing - super friendly, knowledgeable for any art project we've been doing. A special shout out to Alexi who is the best with framing and has done amazing work with us and Alyssa who has helped with a recent gouache project! Many thanks to Mike who has helped us with so many projects - he knows a lot about everything, including plants! Thank YOU to the wonderful team!

Called in to put something aside (carlingwood location). Told me to swing by the same day because they can only put it on hold until EOD. Showed up to a “be back in 15” sign. Waited 35 minutes outside the shop, no sight of the employee or anything. Thank you for wasting my time.
The best card shop around! Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about all the games that they sell! Also playing there for local tournaments is a blast!

Helpful and friendly staff. I also enjoyed the fact that they had a large variety of art supplies to choose from. Another thing that I enjoyed was how organized everything was. Walking in the space was like walking into a candy store.
I read the negative reviews and was somewhat cautious going into the store. To my delight, the experience was great. Loads of good boardgames, RPGs, paints and D&D miniatures. The guy behind the counter was also very pleasant.
I went there looking for the new straykids 5 star album and they had all 3 versions, and an entire kpop shelf with many other groups too! It's one of the only places in Ottawa I've found that sells kpop albums in-store!

One of the best place to get Pokémon cards, card game accessories and video games in town. Had sun and moon Pokémon products along with Mario all stars for switch I couldn’t find anywhere else. Needless to say that birthday was killer. Also extremely competitive prices to online retailers which is super impressive for such a small shop. Looking forward to card and video game tournaments there!

This location tends to be better stocked then other DeSerres locations. There are better art supply stores in the area however. But if you need a specific brand carried by DeSerres or more crafty supplies it's a good store, and staff is more friendly than average.
A great place for art supplies. So many varieties, and the shop is just across the street car 510 station " Spadina Ave at Richmond St West". Because i kept following the google map which was showing me Camden St but it wasn't there.
Wonderful place to buy items for arts and crafts. I went for a sketchbook, but bought a lot more. There was a discount on acrylic and min additional, there is also a clearance section. I bought very cute table easel for my future works.

Pretty cool store with lots to look at. The prices on most items I looked at were a bit high. T-shirts were $7 higher than most places, but it was all branded and band shirts, no stupid random sayings like "it's always beer o'clock somewhere". The records were all pretty high, especially for a lot of the classic rock stuff. The selection was verrrry classic rock heavy, with some mainstream metal and modern hip-hop, but overall felt fairly limited... Maybe they're serving an older audience seeing as the store is in Carlingwood? The CD selection definitely had alot more variety, and I saw numerous classics from my youth. In the end, both my daughter and I found something we wanted and left happy!
This location has sales going on! The student card allows you to have an additional discount on select items. Customer service is fantastic. I received helpful advice on selecting paints and return was no problem within thirdly days for unused products.

One of my fav local chain music stores. It kind of replaced HMV. Some items hard to order due to continued record label shenanigans. Some stuff better priced than Amazon! Fun place and knowledgeable employees
I've made a purchase of a single card at this branch on January 2nd and was not very satisfied with the condition that the card arrived in. The card was described as NM but appeared more LP. It did not look NM at all. The card has a noticeable bend on the top right corner of the card and looks very dirty with specks hardened onto the card on both sides. I've reached out to their customer support on their website to no avail and emailed them a couple days after with no response as well.
A lot of calendar choices in all different kinds of genres; animals, movies, travel destinations, sports, in all different sizes, for business/home settings. It has pretty much every kind of calendar you can think of! Also, there's puzzles and trivia/board games as well. There was a 40% off sale going on while I was there today, can't say no to that! There was only 1 employee working though, she was behind the cash register and also helping out customers, she was nice and polite too, RECOMMENDED! Check it out if you're in this mall!
Amazing selection and variety at such affordable prices. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable in both music and movies. Lots of great deals and offers aswell. Very convenient location within the mall. Look out for Timmy he is very helpful and absolutely loves his job
I stopped in a few weeks ago for an introductory chess set. The store operator took the time to answer some of my questions about the game and made some recommendations on some books I could start with/ a club in Ottawa I could look into. Overall I was very pleased with the customer service and will be returning when I want to upgrade my set
Great local game store. I went to their One Piece card game event in September. Was a fun time. Their local players were really helpful and more than happy to give pointers and answer questions. Also got to chat with the owner who is also a super friendly guy (and big One Piece fan!). I’ve also been a couple times since to get sleeves and whatnot. Always a good experience.
These fine lads have finally started pricing competitively to other shops in the city, so I am updating my review to reflect the new experience! I like how they have a large range of single cards for purchase out on display in the counter, as it gives me an opportunity to window shop some cards that might otherwise go under my radar while the staff gather my orders for pickup! I do wish they had a greater selection of inventory available, as they do have some sets that other stores carry that this one just doesn't have any stock for, and restocks of older stuff doesn't seem to happen too often compared to other stores. The search function on the website is kind of useless, as when searching for stuff, it throws in a lot of results that are highly irrelevant to the search, and often searching for a specific product, you won't find it in the search results but will get 100s of irrelevant results instead. Not a huge dealbreaker, but it does make it harder to place an order.
I decided to go once again and spend some good time looking for Music at Sunrise Records in St. Laurent shopping centre. Upon my arrival I was looking for something specific. I noticed there wasn’t so many customers since I arrived quite early on a Sunday morning. Alexis, one of the employees, was an excellent customer service representative. She really did the best she can in assisting me choose & also give her opinion which I asked her if she wouldn’t mind.
All in all, I’ve been to this location twice in the past week. Between Alexis and Sean (the store manager) I really couldn’t ask for more customer service or good sincere help, which is sometimes difficult to receive these days in the retail world.
However, I must admit they both in their own way went up and above what the average retailer I’ve experienced would ever do, hence I hope these 2 reviews in the last week do not go unnoticed by their management (head office).
Sean and Alexis are Excellent employees, and deserve their flowers in the present time, not only from myself, hopefully from management, and others reading these reviews.

Amazing experience! The store was so neat and well organized. Products were easy to locate and the sales associate on the floor was quite friendly and helpful. There were lots of things on sale at really low prices. Lamiaa helped me with my transaction and was so wonderful! She recognized and greeted me and helped me with the issue I had. She was very polite and understanding and took time to resolve my issue. The manager was very kind to lay a helping hand as well. I would definitely be returning and I highly recommend other artists to pay a visit as well! Great customer service!
Great experience. There were so many products + options to choose from. The owner was very informative and helpful. I ended up buying a great set of wooden chess pieces. Definitely a must-visit if you are in the Ottawa area!

So impressed. Went in and bought an external speaker set. The guy took the time and gave me step by step instructions on hookup. Was very helpful. And success. My 47 year old son came into my place to tell me to turn my music down. Haha
I ordered a booster box, and a dark sylveon v box. This is my first time ordering from hobbiesville so I didn't know what to expect, I choose the standered shipping. it was around 10 dollars and my package came within a week or so. So not a long wait and I thought it was going to be longer. Overall everything seemed legit and real. Not any fake cards or anything and everything came protected in bubble wrap. It came pretty early in the morning around 9am. I'm glad and happy ordering from hobbiesville and will order from them in the future as well, thank you hobbiesville for taking care of my package and making things easy. I got some great pulls as well
Decent selection of records, but the young man working when attended this location on Monday could not be bothered to look up or acknowledge a customer when I approached him. No big deal, I just left and went to a different store. Not asking for backflips but a minimum of customer service skills…
Amazing art store with everything you can possibly need for the Artist, art student, beginner or even children. My little nieces are quite artistic so I bought them full pencil kits, complex colouring books to. Halle get them and help them develop concentration skills as well as manual dexterity, glitter / poster project kit for the 8 year old and an aqua tells/ canvass kit. My nieces lived their gifts. The clerk who helped me was perfectly bilingual and as a Francophone I loved that. She helped me find things and was very patient with me. I got a discount because I doesn’t more than $100. Very good experience at this store… loved it! Highly recommend for Xmas shopping !
I do acrylic painting. I could not find nothing useful for my art here. But I bought stylish Italian rolling bag, my wife loves it to go shopping. Prices are $$$.

Place is very nicely arranged and well equipped with sports equipments. Especially mind building games.. extremely important for kids 👏.

Open October 21 2019 in the usual location in front of Joe Fresh. Great selection of all types of calendar choices.
Great selection, and a very friendly and helpful staff. A relic from a bygone era media stores may be, but Sunrise does a great job of reminding us why they matter. Do be careful though, the are occasionally slow taking sale stickers off of items after sales end. I've always had them honor the ticketed price, but I have had to point it out to them.

We learned that they have amazing VR games where gamers can put on a headset and play virtual games. Very cool.
Also their mascot is a skull head called 'Scaper' and they have hundreds of video games for all ages to enjoy playing.
If your child is having a birthday and you're looking for a fun venue to celebrate it in.....Gamescape is a great choice as they have a party area and offer party game packages.
