This is really the only craft store in Peterborough. Staff is friendly and they have a good variety of products. The lines to cash out are long so just get ready for that.
Who ever was on till today (around noon) very helpful, she got me a better deal as well.
So much selection of craft material, artist supplies, scrapbooking/cricut supplies, home decor and more. The most disappointing thing is they changed to self checkout. Sometimes staff does it for you, or starts it and you finish it. A lot of things purchased were breakable and I needed to ask twice for packaging material. There were not a lot of sales people on the floor to ask to help you either.
Terrific store, excellent floorplan & very friendly, helpful service staff. Well done.

This store is pet/dog friendly. I am always happy to learn that I can carry my 16 year old dachshund into a store so this is a major plus!

The store layout is fine, typical.
Customer service is so bad here and the self-checkouts are ridiculous. Employees who oversee the self-checkouts are rude and act annoyed if you have to pay in cash or ask them to help you instead.

Won’t be going back. No one at cash- it’s all self checkout except one till except there wasn’t an employee at the till. The lady at the door has to call someone up to cash me out bcs I won’t use self checkout if there’s other options. Waited 5 minutes. Then the door lady finally jumped on the till herself and started to check me out, only to sign back out half way through my stuff (8 items- almost all thread) so the other till lady could sign back in to the computer and check me out. Hate self checkouts- those should be jobs for people.
I found what I was looking for quick. Was given good direction for other things. All the staff were very kind and helpful
Self checkouts suck. Bring back the employee registers. Extremely frustrating anytime I go to Michael's and HAVE to use self checkouts because that's the only option. Very thankful there was ONE employee able to help with the non-customer friendly self checkouts.
Clean location. The lady at the cash register was super friendly and cute. She was nice to my baby boy and other staff gave me proper directions throughout the store.

We did our birthday here and just want to give a shout out to Layla our host and the team there. They took care of everything and made the birthday party so simple. Kids had a blast and we were quite pleased. Highly recommended. This took the madness from play places and complex offerings away. Thanks Team!

Every time we go to Michaels we have a great time. My daughter loves to cash out when Nikki is working! She has the best customer service and is always helpful and knowledgeable when asked questions.
I said to a clerk "excuse me" and she replied while still walking "I am helping another client I will be back in a sec". She never came back and she did not even know what I was going to say to her. Maybe I saw a person stealing. The clerk was a young white lady on Saturday around 4 pm.
Meh, the paints I've gotten here have all sucked so far, clear coat was fine. But wow was it hard to get help, I just needed to find clear coat and I literally had to ask three employees, I'll leave it at that two bad employees two lost stars
Defective merchandise. Do not stand behind their products. Never buy a helium tank from these guys.
Needed some lost receipts for a work expense. A team member helped me get them super quick based on transaction dates and my card. Very grateful - would have been out $120 otherwise. Had also contacted the online michaels customer care for the same reason and while taking 5 days longer, they also found the records for the lost receipts. Big thanks!
This store is a 3 level and have lot of collections. I bought oil colours, canvas boards, brushes, easels and self checkout is a easy process
Nice young lady named Candy helped us out in custom frames helped us. Took a little too long, but I think she was new to the store and her great attitude more than made up for it. Cut glass for frames is too high.
Went in the Micheals at uptown yesterday and the staff I interacted with was extremely rude before I could even say a word, her facial expressions, her body language was all very disgusting. Her name is Terri Lynn and her attitude is awful, people like that should not be working customer service let alone put in a manager position. The way she even addressed other customers before me was so unhelpful and just rude. There are reviews about staff being rude to people and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is her because I have been there many times and was never met with such attitude as one she displayed yesterday, other staff were helpful and polite. I am hoping Terri Lynn gets some type of training on customer service and an awareness of the job she has chosen to do because she may be letting that manager position get to her head and just there acting ridiculous.
Michael's is one of the bigger arts and crafts shops around here. While their prices aren't exactly cheap, their discount and sale events make it worth a visit! With a membership I got rewards plus 40% off my item during one of their sales. The store is very clean and organized, with staff walking around and ready to help customers. You can also order online for pickup, delivery or walk in store to see what's available, as some items aren't shown online.

After getting a rude sales clerk at the Billy bishop store, telling head office staff they would not give me my discount on my purchase Talked to 3 people to help me out finally was sent to store and after not getting any help , Jason manger found a solution. So impressed! My online order of a single frame and mat arrived today and was so beautifully packed, it could have survived any natural disaster you can imagine. The packer was so thorough! Starting with corner protectors, then a foam sheet, followed by mini-bubble wrap followed by extra-tough mega-gigantic bubble wrap, all packed in a sturdy cardboard box. Now that is service! You can bet I am hanging onto the box and packing materials so the next time I have to send a fragile package, I am good to go. Awesome job, Michaels!
Just a drop in to pick up sketch book erasers narrow tape . Was met by staff member who was knowledgeable about where to find the artcles I was looking for. The only complaint I have is that Michael's does not carry 300lb watercolor paper. So disappointing.
Nice layout makes it easy to locate what you're looking for. Staff is helpful. Some items are a little on the pricey side but they do have good sales. This store is fully accessible and the aisles have lots of room for maneuvering strollers, wheelchairs and walkers.

I have been getting my paintings custom framed with all the hardware on the back of my chosen frame at Uptown for years. I knew it needed brackets in this case. Normally they do great work there. I am truly disappointed in the workmanship I am seeing from them now. It should not look like this. When you work so hard on a painting you expect some level of professional work from the framer. It is not. I am no longer going to go to this location as the customer service has gone down hill.
One picture is how it should be done. The other pictures is what was done. The canvas is the same size but in different frames. It costs over 30 dollars plus the cost of the frame to get this done. Not happy.

Love this store. Great selection of items. Very clean and organized. Easy to find what you're looking for, but if you can't, the staff are very helpful and happy to help you. I definitely recommend this location for your craft, baking, picture, and art supplies.
Now this is a Christmas shop with everything you'll need and not need but now want. The shop is so magical and grouped into themes so pleasing to walk around. The direct categories of ornaments were so fun to look through.

Visited after the Santa Clause Parade, see my post later about that. Michael’s downtown big store, one of the biggest I’ve been in, in the city had 3 Levels - guess what sm crafting?
Had to remind the cashier about a BOGO offer they had as they nearly charged my Mother 100$ for two simple wooden designs. After the offer was applied, which was posted all around the store, plus her senior discount, the total came to 44$.
If nothing had been said then my Mother would have paid over double due to the complacency of an employee.

My wife and I went to this store today. They have a great variety of Christmas decorations and ornaments. You can purchase all these items 12 months a year. I would highly recommend that you visit this store.

This place is magical... at every time of the year!! It is filled with every Christmas ornament you can think of, and then some. And, even better... they constantly bring in new and interesting stock all the time. The store is divided into theme areas, but if you can find something, just ask one of the many friendly staff.
Customer service could improve. I had gone to see a cashier by the name of Norma and I did not have my receipts. She had rolled her eyes and sighed. That was very bad customer service. I have returned many items to Michael’s and never got this type of reply. If you don’t want to be there then don’t work.

I love the options... pick up in store or shop if I wish to. The aisles are wide and accommodate my rollator with ease and the staff are very welcoming. As a frequent yarn purchaser I appreciate their services. They always greet me as I enter and thank me as I leave.
Lots of products but barely any staff so difficult to find things unless you're intending to spend a few hours browsing. Think I'll probably use Amazon for things I know I want to buy as it feels like the chaos of Canadian Tire only they just sell uncompetitively priced crafts.
I recently took advantage of the 'buy one get one' offer at spirit of Christmas and I must say, it was a fantastic shopping experience.The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to assist. They helped me find the perfect items and even offered useful recommendations. What stood out the most was their patience in answering all my questions.
Nice and clean location. I was able to easily find what I needed which was some epoxy resin. Despite how much different stuff they had I'm store it was simple to find specifically what I needed and it was well stocked. Prices were quite competitive to other online retailers for the item I needed.
I've never used epoxy before but the lady at the front counter was extremely helpful in giving me a few tips and letting me know what to be careful of.

The store is a Michaels, generally well stocked. Staff are helpful, but the queue at checkout is almost always too long, but not excessively, they have it timed just awkwardly.
My biggest issue is that there is NO Bicycle parking at this location!

This place has tons of Christmas decor, even showing up here in mid summer puts a smile on your face and surely you will find something that you will resist to buy. They have really cool tree ornaments.
Came here to buy a picture frame for my poster had asked for help choosing the correct size jessalynn was the person helping me out she was very kind , professional and helpful, we ran into a small complication with my poster how ever she found a quick solution for the problem! My experience here was a 10/10 I will always come back here thank you

Organized location. Bought some sketchbooks here. The pencils on the display shelves have been sampled one too many times.
Sign clearly states something is on sale but when it's rung up the sales associate says only the ones with the pink labels are actually on sale. I asked if it the sign says that, and she confirmed, so I took another look and it doenst say the pink labels. Not the first time they have mis-signed or mislead me. They do have good products but they are over priced and rely on sales, I just wish I had an idea what was actually on sale. It was a summer Ashland stem, just wasn't a pink label.
I usually orders at Erin Mills location, but since we had plans of going to Etobicoke area, I chose the Etobicoke location for pickup. I ordered vinyls online and picked the items in store. But disappointed to received a “returned” vinyl. The plastic cover is already ripped open and it was just sealed with a tape. I wonder if they will be happy if the same incident happened to them. It was a very frustrating experience! This will be my first & last time to order with Etobicoke location.
The largest Michaels i have ever been to but it's so unfortunate that they have probably 4 staff for a 3 storied shop. Every imaginable arts and crafts items available over there, they even have very cool licensed fabrics for Harry Potter, Star Wars, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Disney, Marvel, DC But unfortunately i couldn't find anyone to cut some fabrics for me to purchase.

I wholeheartedly recommend Things Engraved. Their service is top-notch, and their sales representative, Will, is nothing short of a miracle worker.
I ordered a large shipment of custom engraved glasses for my son's wedding on very short notice. (The fault for the short notice was entirely mine.) Will was able to get the glasses to me, beautifully engraved and carefully wrapped, even sooner than the superhuman deadline he had promised to meet.
Thanks to Will and Things Engraved, my family celebration will have an extra touch of class, and the guests will receive lovely souvenirs. In future, I'll be taking all my business to Things Engraved. I unreservedly encourage others to do the same.

Great selection, custom framing...lots of arts & craft ideas. Yarn, wood items for painting, seasonal items for Valentine's, Easter, Christmas etc... great for kids arts, cricket machine section, canvases, brushes & paints available here as well as sketch pads of different sizes. Ink, pens, pencils & speciality markers. Jewelry makers supplies also sold at this location as well as organizers. Awesome selection! Bright & clean location; employees are nice.

Conveniently located right at the base of the trail, and the owner will come open open up if not there at the moment. It’s this kind of personal service that makes it a great place to pick up some souvenirs. Very impressed with the quality and variety of quilts, knitting, art, and knick knacks.
Excellent location with a great inventory and almost everything DIY you could ever think of. The staff are attentive and helpful, some with really creative ideas. Parking is not much of an issue, we parked on queen street and it was just a quick stroll. Overall, this store is one of the best I’ve been to and has an amazing variety of stuff that really get you inspired.

This has always been my go to engraving place, although very expensive, they really are the only ones around. I needed a gift engraved for an event, so I called ahead to make sure they had the item, confirmed engraving costs and time to have it ready, so that I could run in before heading to the event.. Had my husband drop in earlier to prepay so things would be seamless... NOT!! When we returned to pick up the item, my husband ran in and she had it packed in a bag.. So he grabbed it and came out... The store manager had lightly engraved the piece and was hardly visible.. But proceeded to hand us the display model, with no box and no ribbon that the item came with... (Pewter Certificate tube where the bow hides the center joint) I was told they had others in stock, but in all the advanced planning, the manager was not able to "find" the boxed ones.. Until I insisted and waited for her to do so half hour into our event... Was so disappointed, have not been back since.
What an amazing place. Gorgeous artificial flowers. Wedding and Home Decor GALORE!!! Showrooms are professionally designed using only products from the CMC Warehouse. Always fresh and inspiring. A must see. Staff are so courteous, helpful and creative. This is a special place to shop for home, events, weddings, something for everyone.

The prices can be a little higher than you might find elsewhere but the clearance deals tend to be phenomenal! Also, if you make use of coupons found online, you will typically recieve 40 or 50 percent off of one item.

Initially I was told my order would cost one amount, upon pick-up was told it would be double the initial cost. The item was already engraved so I had no choice but to pay for it. No-one from the store contacted me regarding the change and when I went to pick-up the item, it was scratched all over and looked terrible. The customer service with all of this was AWFUL. I do not recommend them and will never be shopping here again.
Michaels is a great place for people who are interested in art and crafts, the store has a wide variety of products that they carry regularly and many seasonal items for different holidays and events, the store is clean and organized, all products are well placed and visible the only star missing out of perfect 5 is that because some isles we were interested in were blocked by stairs from both sides and we were not able to check them, the merchandise is a bit pricey but when they have sale or with one of their coupons pricing becomes more competitive with other stores.

The idea is great but the cost is outrageous. Engraved a mug and it cost over a 100$ as you pay for each letter
Jasmine was amazing. I came to get a key cut and a keychain. She was so helpful and kind and gave me some great ideas for a gift. I had a bad experience with a different key cutting location and she put me in a much better mood.
We had an anniversary gift engraved here and they did a wonderful job. I have come to this Carlingwood location before and much prefer it to the Rideau center location.
The worst ever experience I had. Been told to wait 1 hr for the gift to be engraved, I came after almost 2 hours and been told to wait another 15 min! Even by then It was not finished and sure to take another hour! Had to cancel the order:(
