Worth its name. Very friendly and professional staff. Easy to speak to, very attentive to details and ensuring an amazing service.

The food is very good and they have good selection of drinks and cocktails.

The bread with olives and olive oil mix is very yummy.
The mushrooms soup is excellent, the fish tacos and the tiramisu are good too.

Overall great experience. We will definitely be back soon to enjoy again and try different tapas.

(If you order the fish tacos, eat them as soon as they are served. I was so busy with the soup 😋 that when I got to the tacos they were cold. That’s on me 😅)
If you like oysters, this is the spot. They got 1$ oyster specials everyday and they taste absolutely amazing. Panis (our waitress) provided exceptional service! Will definitely go back.

Seafood platter for 2 people was pretty good and tasty. We asked for more bread but the waiter didn't inform us that's extra charge. I told the waitress that we're celebrating our wedding anniversary and she didn't know what to do. Typically, in special occasions like these they'd have special way to help celebrate or give complimentary dessert. We're a bit disappointed at this restaurant. The patio was a nice place and decorated beautifully.
Tasty food and a cute outdoor patio. There aren't any vegetarian options on the menu. However, the kitchen is very accommodating, and they prepared a vegetable risotto that was very delicious. There is also plenty of parking available.

The mushroom dish on the apps menu is the best thing I've ever eaten. We went on a Saturday night and there was live music, exquisite vibes for sitting and chatting or dancing. We will be back :)

Amazing tasty food! Tried the fish tacos, the first item of the appetizer, thin slices of meat. Fish anf chips was great portion! Fries were delicious. Cocktails were great! Lovely artist playing live music, the staff was friendly, warm!
Excellent customer service, Maria, our server was amaizing, the food was delicious and so well served.
After 10 days of touring Ottawa, Montreal and other beautiful little towns, this place it is on the top 3 of our best experiences in our vacation. Definitely a place to come back.

An old school fine dining Portuguese restaurant. The attention to detail and service throughout the dining experience are hard to find now. This has been one of my regular stops when visiting Montreal for a long time.
By far the best oysters I’ve had in Ottawa, and to top it off the service was top notch. The hostess Sarah was excellent and very attentive. I can’t wait to come back for more.
This was our first trip to Montreal. My wife and I are both foodies, always ready to try something new. We decided to walk, the streets were busy, and there was little parking. We hoped to find something interesting and see if we could be successful as walk ins. And at that moment, in the historic Vieux Montreal, we came to Restaurant Solmar, specializing in Portuguese dining. The restaurant was not on street level and required climbing several steps to the second floor. I can't comment on whether there was an elevator or not. We had the place to ourselves! Our waiter, a well groomed professional who was as polished as the wine glasses he was wiping down welcomed us. The ambiance was intimate. A restaurant like this is meant for you to sit back, listen to the menu selections and the wine pairing. "Our chef is from Portugal," our waiter said, "and he prepares your dinner like he is still in Portugal." Now, that's what I'm talking about.I wanted the grilled octopus and my wife had the seafood paella. We went with a rioja gran reserva as recommended. Our dinner arrived beyond expectations. The wine worked wonderfully. Our lavish ncomments to the waiter prompted the chef to visit our table where he parted his only cooking secret ... "grilling octopus has to be low and slow, or it is too tough." He got that right.

Absolutely the best service and food I have ever had. The octopus was just fantastic.
Such a cute little place. Loved the ambience here. If you are looking for Authentic Portuguese food then this is your place. Our server Vanessa was the sweetest. The seafood is absolutely delicious. Loved the grilled Octopus and the Seared Blood Sausage. Desserts are heavenly especially the Pistachio Ricotta tart. Will definitely visit again.
Trendy yet good. Large restaurant with a lovely patio. Excellent service (no shortage on staff). Good place to have dinner if you come with a large group. Platter style offerings. A bit on the pricey side.
Based on my experience:
Cost: CAD250 for two with 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers and 2 mains (tip included)
Service: we got there and we were told that we only had the table for one hour. Our waiter often seemed to forget that we were there.
Food: it was lacking flavor, something as basic as acidity and salt for a ceviche.
Atmosphere: The place is decorated really nice, no complaints.
Cocktails: Awful, it did not have the right balance, it was pure alcohol ( I asked for a daiquiri) .
Final review: I won't be going back since I did not enjoy the food
Went here for a birthday, and I cannot stress the level of care the staff put into this dining experience. The food was amazing, timely, the quality was premium.
There was a lunch 3 course menu offered at 48$ you could get a starter main and dessert with a drink and espresso.
There were 2 options so naturally we got one of each. I highly recommend the short ribs especially if you're craving a tender rib with creamy mash.

My favorite dessert was the chocolate moose. It was perfectly balanced. Again over all 11/10 experience and I will be going back.

This is a hidden gem. An authentic portgese dining experience. Food was excellent, from taste to presentation. First the bread, it was warm, soft inside and a crunch to the crust served with a tasty olive spread. We also ordered the pork blood sausage. That was really unique. It's like chocolate molten cake but savory and with cooked apples that pairs so well with it. Highly recommend. The clams was also large and the sauce is done so well. Goes perfectly with the warm bread to soak up the sauce. The mains were nicely done. As Portuguese are known for their seafood so we ordered a seafood platter, cod fish, and also a steak to share among our party of four. Finally we end the meal with desserts and cappuccino. They have a very lovely patio as well. Too bad we came on a day when it was rainy so we didn't get to dine in the patio, but the interior dining room was just as nicely and tastefully done. If you are looking for a unique, authentic portugese dining experience that won't break your wallet, this is a great restaurant to try.
Amazing hidden gem! Great cocktails, delicious food, and attentive staff. We will definitely be bad!

The server was very new and seemed to know very little about the food, while it is understandable I would say more training is needed before allowing server to work alone. The food was OK, I guess we had high expectations after reading the reviews but seafood was slightly overcooked and not very tender. I love grilled octopus and always order it, and this is not a place I would go to for it.
Dessert was also OK but not outstanding.
The presentation of food was really great though.
Also the decor is very nice.
We had a lovely time at the Speakeasy Tapas Lounge! The live music was great, and (most importantly) at a perfect decibel. We were able to converse while still enjoying the music and the great vibe. The drinks were delightful and the staff were courteous. This is a great place for a date or drinks with friends.

Salt is nestled in Toronto's vibey Ossington street is a delightful escape to European charm. You dine among the bottles with romantic ambiance and an impressive array of tapas paired with exquisite Portuguese wines. It’s a haven for wine enthusiasts and foodies alike. The attentive service and intimate atmosphere make it an ideal choice for a date or girls night.
I saw the great reviews and wanted to bring my fiance to a place that reminded us of our time in Spain having tapas... This was the complete opposite. I'm pretty sure this is not a fine finish restaurant yet serving lobster ceviche with absolutely as minimal possible food you can serve someone is just embarrassing. When I showed other friends the portion that was served to us they asked "where is the food"? That was the main question the entire night after ordering multiple options and feeling unsatisfied by the end. The flavors were good but I cannot justify this experience with a good looking plate. I was not expecting to eat art but actual tapas at this restaurant. I was very embarrassed to bring my fiance for her birthday dinner here and I certainly will not recommend coming here, just like the server did not recommend anything when we asked for his opinion too I can see why now.

Came with my husband for the Valentine’s Day Prix Fixe and we were far from disappointed. We had a charcuterie plank with truffled manchego, beet salad with burrata and watercress, scallop crudo, duck confit, paella, vanilla pot de creme and a dark chocolate cake. All spectacular and super flavourful. Service was friendly and efficient. Would absolutely return to try the regular menu as our server promised there were even better things to order.

In a new city, you randomly pick a restaurant on a very busy touristy street and hope to get a pleasant meal. The meal was good, but the service was dreadful. The scallops were in a very salty sauce. The bisque was mediocre. My fillet was nice with vegetables, and the lamb shank was decent. Most of the time, the staff just ignored us and were not very friendly.

'A modern slice of Italy on Commercial drive. A fantastic cocktail and wine selection. The food is incredible and the ambiance is perfect for all occasions, especially late night.
•BISONTE - Bison striploin, medium rare, turnip & parmesan puree, balsamic jus & crispy rosemary.
•INSALATA - Varieties of radicchio from cropthorne farms, apple, spiced ricotta, mint & pistachio.
•CARPACCIO - Hiro waygu beef, lacto-fermented cherry tomato, parmesan reggiano.

I picked this place for a fun date night and was not disappointed! It’s a place that’s more about an experience, trying different things, than about seeing how full you can get.
Make reservations. The place isn’t huge and it was quite busy.
The food was incredible! I loved how each dish is presented. I liked the experience of each dish being served on its own to really appreciate it.
That being said, be prepared to wait.
The dishes are staggered, small bites, designed to be shared between two people, and each one a piece of art, which takes time to create.
We left feeling not too full, but completely satisfied.
A cool idea for a first date, because you can try new things together and constantly be (quite literally) fed something new to talk about.

We absolutely loved the Gorgonzola Gnocchi, the Madjool Dates and the Salmon Crisps.
The spanikopita and open-faced chicken were good, but not mind-blowing. The creme brûlée is to die for.

Going back for the beetroot tower and more gnocchi!

Had a great night out. The waiter was amazing and served the ouzo shrimp very charismatically.

A few dishes were locking the punch I was looking for but all in all it was a great meal. The restaurant was beautiful and so cozy.

I think my favorite of the night was the beet stack because of the delicious sauce really pulling it together.

Terrible terrible service! It is a shame that the food and cocktails are both good but my friend and I are never going back there. We arrived there at 6:30 with a reservation. No one told us that there was going to be a time limit for our stay. What they did instead was coming to our table every few minutes (different servers) to ask if we were done. One male server even said to us ' I have been observing you and you guys were not picking at your food so I am gonna take the plates away ' and he did! My friend and I looked at each other and couldn't believe what we just heard. Then that was not the end of it, another girl came in and told us we had 20 mins when we still had drinks on our way. Then another one came and told us we had 7 mins. It is not our responsibility if they had made another reservation 1.5 hours after us. We could have turned around and left if we knew we only had 1.5 hours. But were we informed of that at any point? absolutely no! We asked to speak to the manager but none was around. Absolutely terrible service through and through.

Bar Corso has a small but tight menu that they serve up in a cozy and intimate restaurant space plus a sidewalk patio space (when weather permits). I am particularly enamoured with the cocktail selection at Bar Corso. All their cocktails are served as doubles and their Negronis are 3 ozs. The Ananas Negroni is a personal favourite and features el jimador tequila, pineapple infused campari, sweet vermouth. It is very well balanced and smooth. The single large ice cube is a nice touch.

The Salumi e Formaggi Alla Corso is Bar Corso’s take on a charcuterie board and it features a selection of imported meats and cheeses, house preserves, crostini, crackers. There was a large selection of house made pickles and 3 meats and 3 cheeses. It was a gorgeous platter and the perfect accompaniment for our cocktails.

Overall, a nice neighbourhood spot for solid eats and cocktails.

Fantastic service, and a great vibe. Raina is excellent, and she took care of us by recommending fantastic sake, and being very communicative to their very slow kitchen at the time.

Unfortunately, the sushi is atrocious. Please see the attached photo of the "volcano roll" for 22$. We were so hungry, we ate anything we could get. (Raina generously comped this dish for us).

This is a great place to have drinks. The staff is very friendly, music is cool, and the vibe is great, but I would never eat here again.

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and it was awesome. we had never been here before but my bf found it and decided to make a reso for us :) the food was awesome .. we got the wagyu tartare and albacore tuna crostinis to start and were blown away!! we then got the pomodoro and carpaccio (not pictured because we just had to eat it right away) which were both so amazing. i’m definitely a tomato girl so i really loved the tomatoes in both the dishes. we also got the pasta del giorno which was a bolognese with pine mushroom (we went on a friday)
the drinks we got were great too, and we finished off with a grappa flights which was definitely a choice considering i work tomorrow and my bf is going on a hike but it was still great!!!
our server bryden (brayden? brian? sorry it was a little loud and the grappa was hitting.) was awesome and super fun the whole time too. all the servers were very helpful though and i loved all their vibes.
the music was awesome too! definitely check this place out!!

Cozy restaurant in the heart of Ossington! We visited on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is dimly lit with shelves of wine lining both sides.

They have a wide selection of wines as their name would suggest and a tapas style menu. We were recommended to share 4-5 dishes between the two of us.

We started with the Charcuterie which was a selection of 3 dried meats chosen by the chef. The crostini and meats were excellent together.

Our next dish was the Red Prawn Ceviche. This was my favourite. It was very refreshing and seasoned wonderfully. The tortilla chips were very good as well.

Then followed the Steak Tartare. This one was okay. The mustard and pickles were a tad strong for our liking.

As our mains, we ordered the Smoked Iberico Pork Ribs, the Paella, and the Patatas Bravas.

The ribs were seasoned well and so tender the meat fell off the bone. Yum!
The Paella was cooked just enough with both seafood and bits of meat which was a nice combination. We liked that the rice wasn’t over cooked.
The Patatas Bravas was hot and crispy and the tangy tomato sauce was a nice compliment.

We found the restaurant a tad too dark but otherwise, the service was great and a pleasant experience!

Cute little place and fun to try different plates which are meant to be shared at the table with others. Fish tacos were my favorite. Gnocchi was also well done. Falafel was moist but could have used another sauce served with it. Beautiful presentation, great service, very friendly.
Enjoyed traditional Portuguese cuisine in Montreal! Had the pleasure of meeting the owners! They were so gracious!

Awesome Greek in downtown Toronto. Good portions and authentic tic tasting food. Could use a few more choices for the Greek food and deserts but the mousaka is worth the trip. Pricey but hey it's dow town Toronto. Pic is the appetizer trio and traditional Greek salad. Could have been the whole meal!!

Restaurant with excellent location, good for people watching (but not exactly quiet, although I suppose none can really be in this neighborhood).
We were excited to come here, since we're Portuguese ourselves, but we were very disappointed. We asked for several dishes to share ("tapas", although that's not exactly the word we use in Portugal): clams, shrimps, grilled vegetables and chorizo. We didn't really like any of our dishes: the clams still had sand/debris and were very salty (and not really "à Bulhão Pato"), the shrimps (only a few) were, on the other hand, had no salt at all and didn't have the taste we expected, the chorizo was too spicy and not Portuguese neither, and the vegetables were simply bad (hard, unappealing...).
Also, the service was very, very slow (we were in no rush, but we waited a long time for our food and, if you call them "tapas", then they are usually served at the same time or in a quick succession).
One final thing: we understand that, even though this is supposed to be a Portuguese restaurant, not every member of the staff has to speak Portuguese, but if you try to, don't say "postre" or "muchas gracias", because that's Spanish... it's like speaking German to a French or vice-versa just because they share borders.
Ah, and yes, as others have stated, it's really expensive for what you get.

P.S.: next morning, we were both sick with diarrhea! Great!...
NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL !
We went here for our anniversary, just to go somewhere downtown. It didn't disappoint. Husband had fish stew, I had lamb shank. We had appetizers and dessert. It was great. Loved it. Drinks drove the bill up.(: Lots of gluten-free options

We made a reservation for a group business lunch - we arrived a bit late but fortunately there were no problems with our reservation. We were seated and served promptly which was great given the size of our group. The food quality was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meal. The restaurant was a bit loud with the other patrons which the restaurant could not control but it did take away from the atmosphere a bit. The staff let us take our time and did not rush us out after we finished our meal and paid the bill which was great service.

I would definitely come back again in the future.

My wife found this restaurant online as we were trying to find a place to have a meal with another couple who had helped us although we had not met them personally. I saw pictures of the restaurant and the food online and thought it was a great place to dine in and have a good time. But, to my surprise, the service was below the standards of a restaurant of this kind.

The waitress who was serving us yesterday was impetuous. I was incredibly disgusted by the extreme rude behavior of this woman who threw things at my guests. She did not wait till everyone was finished to clear the table. The older gentleman who was sitting at my table was furious as he was treated badly. He asked the server if he did anything to offend her and she said no. 5mins later she came up with a bogus story and said that she has to go to Greece tomorrow and that is why she is so nervous. What? She is older than all the servers there and this is the answer we get for bad service?? What does she take us for? Idiots? She was looking away while serving everyone. She did not give us time to order. She did not know that the ladies should be served first. Her smile was not sincere. It was not a busy hour for the restaurant. Which means she did it on purpose. This woman should be cleaning dishes, not serving diners. I made sure the tip reflected that but no tip would have been ideal in this situation. The management should put a leash on her before she takes down the restaurant. This woman ruined the experience for everyone. I would not recommend this place to anyone any soon, all because of her.

Front desk was not super friendly but okay. Food was nothing special, just average. Atmosphere was very nice but little too noisy.

Just noticed that there are multiple complaints in the reviews about the service. I wouldn’t have complained if the food was bad. But if the service is bad, I wouldn’t let it go. (I had never met my guests before, so it can’t be just me. All four of us felt the same.)

However, the male staff is very nice, Courteous and accommodating.

This review is getting 1-Star because of the waitress. I hope this is an eye opener for the owners/management.

Very small restaurant with dishes that's meant to be shared. Small plates with prices to reflect that. The servers were amazing. Very friendly and explained each dish that came out so you know what you're eating. Flavors are there but my standout dish was the beet tower. Perfect consistency and not too over powering. The restaurant got a bit too hot nearing the end of our dining experience (probably from all the flaming dishes that came out). I would recommend this place if you're looking to share a few plates with someone.

Truly an amazing experience from start to finish ! Love this Mediterranean concept of mezze and having a chance to portion the plates to accommodate the number of persons at the table. I went with my two friends and we were able to get three portions of each plate we got. Everything tasted so delicious and each dish had its own distinct flavour so it was difficult to choose the favourite. The sangria pitcher was YUM ! A refreshing drink during the meal. The server was so hospitable and welcoming and all the other staffs we interacted with as well. Totally recommend this spot to anyone wanting to feel like their enjoying a meal off the coasts of the Med ! One thing, if you guys could serve Arak that would be amazing ! Thank you for a beautiful evening and will come back soon.

My family and I didn’t mind this place, but we didn’t love it. The servers were astronomical and their customer service was excellent, but we weren’t big fans of most of the food or the atmosphere. The only food we LOVED was the gnocchi and the arancini. Everything else was alright, but it didn’t stand out to us. Be aware that each dish comes out ONE AT A TIME. It’s good because it’s fresh and very hot, but it can be a con when you’re pretty hungry. When it wasn’t too busy, each dish came out maybe every ten minutes or so? But when it became peak dinner hours, it took about 30 minutes for each dish to come out. Another thing to note is that every dish is meant for 2 people (2 servings). I believe the server mentioned that it was recommended to order about 6 dishes to be full (for 2 people). It was also super loud because of the way the room is set up, so it wasn’t the best when I could barely hear my family member right across from me. That being said, I think it’s a unique place to go to, and the servers make the experience worth it!

Very loud music if that's your scene.

Food very average. The firecracker roll tastes exactly the same as the other roll we ordered, except one was torched and the other wasn't. Basically wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Had been recommended this place a couple of times and totally understand why! Shared the horiatiki salad, saganaki, soutzoukakia, tzatziki, melitzanosalata (eggplant dip), tirokafteri (spicy feta dip), moussaka and baklava, and they were all fantastic. The pita bread was also fresh and warm when it arrived.

The service was also absolutely incredible. Alexandros and Mubin were very kind, friendly, and welcoming and made our experience really enjoyable!

Went to the new year's eve 5-course tasting menu and had a great time.
The restaurant called me ahead to make sure I was fine with the menu options, and to check if I had any food allergies, which I thought was very thoughtful.
The bar had a nice and cozy atmosphere, with a very friendly staff. The 5-course dinner didn't feel heavy at all. Great choice of menu combination!

Went for our Team lunch (party of 9) and everyone had a great time as both food and service were exemplary.

Started off with the Saganaki and Grilled Calamari for appetizers. We really liked the Saganaki as it’s not overly salty considering they used kefalotyri cheese. The grilled calamari consists of mix greens, is lightly charred and goes well with the bell peppers, onions, olives and vinaigrette.

For our mains, the dishes ranges from seafood where someone ordered the Grilled Whole Sea Bass & Fisherman’s Stew, pasta (Orecchiette Pasta) and meats - Braised Lamb Shank & Grilled Organic Chicken Breast.

The star of the show imo is the Braised Lamb Shank. Not really a fan of lamb due to their grassy/gamey taste but nowhere will you get this taste from Volos' lamb shank. Rich, juicy and flavourful, the fall-of-the-bone lamb shank is so succulent. Every bite sets off a happy fireworks on your tongue that you can't get enough of it!

Another stellar dish is their Saffron Pistachio Ice Cream. Incredibly creamy and with the predominant taste and smell of the saffron, I really love this dessert. This dessert is swoon worthy and not to be missed here.

Yes Volos is on the pricey side but the experience and quality of food alone are worth both the price.

Also one of the few restaurants who doesn’t add automatic gratuity for large parties which is surprising since almost all the restaurants we’ve been to are doing this. This practice alone will entice us into coming back to Volos.

Great service, delicious food and an amazing wine selection! They have a great prix fixe menu for those going to a show after. If you’re going to the ballet or opera right by, this is the perfect place for dinner!

1st time here and we were blown away by the service and delicious food. Everything tastes great but the steak tartar and the chocolate terrine dessert just blew our mind. Service could not be more excellent. For drinks, highly recommend the smoky old fashion that is very rich but complex and flavorful and not heavy. Will absolutely be back.

Came in for a drink after work. We got here a little late so could not sample the food. The drinks were great and the service excellent. They made room for me and the Mrs at the bar. Definitely will be back to try the food menu!

Edit. We finally made it back to try the food menu. It happened to be our 29th Anniversary and we were taking a stroll on Commercial.
We started with a couple of drinks. Ananas Negroni and Amalfi sour were yummy . The sour was so refreshing! A must try. We then had some crostinis. The tuna and wagyu beef were both so tasty.
The Hokkaido scallops were served over some pickled vegetables. It was good and also refreshing. The shrimp pasta was our favorite dish of the night. Perfectly cooked noodles. I also ordered bison. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was amazing.
La Radice Dell’estate was a yummy pineapple rum cocktail. We also tried the Hanami and Burnside Avenue. All went down so smoothly.
We ended the night with Semifreddo. A perfect dessert to end our Anniversary evening.

Our server was excellent and made many good drink recommendations. We left full and satisfied.
Bar Corso is definitely a go to spot on Commercial Drive!
