A captivating open-air artwork stands near the Alma Bridge along the Seine. It symbolizes the flames held by the Statue of Liberty. However, it has become more widely known for its association with Lady Diana (Princess Diana of Wales), as she tragically passed away in the nearby tunnel. A spontaneous flower memorial emerged here and remained for an extended period.

Very interesting and impressive place. I you want to go to the top, be prepared to climb a long stair, bring water, and buy the ticket on-line (we buy it on-line being there because of the long line of people, and could access quickly). One level before te top, it's a souvenirs store, a toilette, and some historic information. The view is great, but it's a bit crowded. There is an elevator for people with special needs to reach the top

📍 Paris, France

The monument's grandeur is awe-inspiring. The intricate details and towering presence make it a must-see in Paris. Visiting in January was a good choice as it was less crowded, allowing for a more enjoyable experience.

Getting to the top may take a little patience, but the panoramic view of Paris is totally worth it! It's a fantastic vantage point to see the city's landmarks in all their glory.

The monument held so much history and emotion. Recommend to climb up for sunset. Be prepared to climb steep stairs though. It was a great way to enjoy 360 degrees of Paris view. I could see the Eiffel Tower in a distance and watched the light went on. Book your ticket in advance.

We weren’t planning originally to go inside the Arc but we ended up getting the Museum Pass so we thought - why not? And I’m really glad we did. We got there at around 2 on a Monday. It was a bit crowded but it wasn’t too bad. You do need to climb 284 steps (a lot of which are spiraled) but the view is so worth it. It’s a 360 view of Paris and you get a nice view of the Eiffel Tower. We spent about 45 minutes in total there including climbing, enjoying the view at the top, and taking pictures outside.

If you’re not staying in the area, I’d recommend combining a visit to the Arc with one to the Eiffel Tower (go SUPER early for that one). The Arc is about a 20 minute walk away.

Tip - if you need to cross the huge roundabout of cars, there’s a tunnel underneath that’s connected to the metro. You don’t need to dash across like we did, before we found out about it.

The center monument of Paris and the most famous of them all.

The monument is breath-taking and marvelous. You could purchase an online ticket for only 13€ to avoid the crowded queue on the official website.
You better chose the visit hour very carefully to avoid sun heat, I prefer sunset hour.
The stairs can be very annoying and challenging for some, especially the elders or people with special needs.
There is a souvenir store in there but most of the items and gifts are way too expensive.

Experience the amazing view of the city from the roof of the arch. Purchase the ticket from the site of the monument and get inside MUCH MUCH faster. There are TONS of stairs to the top. There is room inside the arch with it's history written, some places to sit and a toilet. There is also a souvenir shop with plenty of things to buy. The view from the roof is amazing. Search the time that the sun sets and book your ticket accordingly in order to view the lighting of the Eiffel tower and the beautiful lights of champs elysée. Besides if the sky is sunny it'll get really hot up there.

Really nice building, huge columns and many statues with amazing details. I didn't go inside but I noticed there was no queue to get inside. On the side of the building and on the back there are seats under trees to relax and take a breath.
It is a beautiful white cathedral spotted at a really high place of the French capital, Paris. From there is possible to see almost whole city.
And to get inside of the edification is possible too, from where you can have even better view of Paris, after climbing the tower. The inside is also nice.
Other nice touristic place of this city!!!

This place is 100% worth it! We arrived at the time they were about to open (I think It was 9:00 am), and there was just a small line. The architecture is great, there is a panoramic view and I would say it was my favorite place to see Paris from the heights since it has the right height to see the buildings close and take great photos.

The view is beautiful when you go up! You can see the whole of Paris. We bought our tickets via getyourguide and used the stairs. Please do not cross the road to get to the arc, there is an underground passageway you can use. Overall a must-go when in Paris!

I was not sure what to expect here but the main section is open and airy with a Foucault's pendulum in the middle. Downstairs in the crypt are many tombs of France's literary heroes - Zola, Hugo - and Marie Curie. Get a ticket online to save a bit of time at the entrance.

Great arch! Had a great time watching it.
However the square around the arch has many cars making it quite dangerous to walk around. The arch is very impressive and a very iconic place in Paris.
Moreover, you can see the arch from the top of the eiffel tower making it a beautiful scene.

The church was beautiful, had a lovely time. I thought it was nice that I didn’t have to pay to enter. When travelling every little bit adds up, so I am glad I got to experience it!

The area near by is so much fun to walk around and look at the little shops and walking tours. I recommend downloading pre-made google maps tours of the area to save money and see tourist stops for pictures!
Great spot! Top of the Champs Elysee and other great streets with cafes and shops galore. Quiet early morning but after that it’s hectic! When you’re at it, the Eiffel Tower looks tiny beside it. I didn’t have time to go up the top of the Arc which costs around €13. Next time…

We were lucky to get a few photos without people. It’s definitely an interesting site to see if you’re already nearby or very much a princess Diana fan.

Be very careful, It’s essentially in the middle of a busy/multi lane intersection with cars whizzing by.

Brilliant experience, be sure to book your tickets in advance, that will save you a lot of time.
There’s an elevator, if you have a pram or wheelchair.

Staff were friendly and very helpful, they showed us where we needed to go to and sent a staff member to walk us over to where the elevator was located.

The view from the top was incredible, great view in all directions and an especially good view of the Eiffel Tower, which is best viewed in the dark!

Well worth a visit, it wasn’t too crowded when we went in August 2022

Stunning piece of architecture. It's massive and beautiful. I believe it was around 13€ to get in. I'll pay that once in my lifetime to see this place. I wish I had paid more attention in history class, though. Went on a weekday, so the line was only 15 minutes or so.

Death of Diana, Princess of Wales
The bridge is close to the Pont de l'Alma tunnel where Diana, Princess of Wales, and three others were involved in a fatal car crash on 31 August 1997. They were being chased by paparazzi, and their chauffeur was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Fantastic place. A monument dedicated to French nation and its people. Historic and a must if you’re into museums. Inside it’s Curie’s famous lead coated grave.
A very nice museum and building. Seeing the tombs of some of the most famous french people there. Don't forget to go to the view point on top. The view is fantastic and totally worth it. Go there first thing in the morning
I am unable to describe how beautiful and unique this Basilica is; the pictures don't do it justice. If you travel from another country to visit, it is like winning the lottery and being blessed to be able to be there. The location can get crowded, but it is definitely worth it. The views of the city of Paris are breathtaking. We had to climb up the street stairs; I was out of breath when I reached the top. There are many things to see and enjoy on the way up. I hope you have the opportunity to visit and take as many pictures as you desire. I believe, the John Wick 4 movie was filmed in this location.

This has been a huge location on my bucket list. I wanted to see where Princess Diana was taken from us.

Absolutely, it's worth a visit if you're in the area.

👑🌹🇬🇧
It’s too bad it’s in the middle of a roundabout. Takes away from the whole experience.

They should treat their history better.
I was stunned that literally every second people stopped a few moments to pay tribute to princess Diana, some with flowers and pictures of her. Few public figures remain so popular and people will be talking about her for decades, if not centuries.
The Luxor Obelisk is an ancient Egyptian obelisk located in the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France. It is one of the most prominent features of the square and serves as a historic and architectural landmark.

The obelisk was originally erected in Luxor, Egypt, during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II around 3,300 years ago. It was one of a pair, with the other obelisk still standing in Luxor. In the early 19th century, the ruler of Egypt, Muhammad Ali Pasha, decided to offer one of the obelisks to France as a gift.

In 1831, the Luxor Obelisk was transported to Paris and reassembled in the Place de la Concorde. It stands at a height of approximately 23 meters (75 feet) and is made of pink granite. The obelisk is adorned with hieroglyphics and inscriptions, which depict the glory and achievements of Pharaoh Ramses II.

The Luxor Obelisk has witnessed many significant events throughout its history. It survived the French Revolution and the removal of other statues and symbols associated with the monarchy. It was also a witness to various political demonstrations and gatherings in the square.

Today, the Luxor Obelisk is a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of Parisian grandeur. It stands as a testament to the historical and cultural ties between France and Egypt. Visitors can admire its impressive size, intricate carvings, and learn about its fascinating journey from ancient Egypt to its current location in the heart of Paris.

Highly recommend a visit. Watch the stairs though. When we arrived in Paris I wasn't feeling very well but persisted with the climb. Thank goodness there is a rest point, seats, information displays over half way up with the viewing camera looking directly below. Once at the top, you are greeted with 360 views of the beautiful Paris laid out before you. Enjoy the distant views and the amazing feats of endurance, skill and nerve of the drivers circling around the roads below you. Such an amazing monument and totally worth the visit any time of day or night.
It's hard to put into words how much I adore this spot! The sheer beauty of the grand mosaics and captivating architecture inside is breathtaking to say the least. And the location...wow! Perched atop a hill, offering the most spectacular views of the city, it truly is a sight to behold.

Spending time here, simply sitting and soaking in the views of the city spread out beneath me is one of my favorite pastimes. Whether it's watching the hustle and bustle of the city during the day or catching the mesmerizing sunset in the evening, it's an experience that never gets old. 🌇

And if you're a photography enthusiast like me, the surrounding area is a gold mine. There are numerous small spots where you can catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower peeking through the tree branches. It's such a unique perspective and offers a fantastic opportunity for some really creative shots. 📸

All in all, this place is an absolute gem! From the stunning interiors to the panoramic city views and photo ops, it's a must-visit for anyone in the city. I just can't get enough of it! 💗
We were not sure if it was worth a visit while in Paris. No doubt, it was worth it. Two drawbacks: First, it is not near the city center (like 30 minutes by subway). Second, you need to be prepared to climb the stairs. Or, you can take a small lift that will take you to the Basilica.

The Basilica itself is stunning. It is free to visit (you only need to pay if you want to go to the dome). I didn't go to the dome. Either way, you will have beautiful panoramic views regardless you go to the dome or not.
This place was unexpected. Our tour guide took us here without having known of it prior to going and boy were we surprised how beautiful and amazing it was! From the first time we saw it while walking up through the alley to the time spent walking through the church to admire all the detail we were captivated! And if that wasn’t enough when you walk out you will see some of the best views of Paris! It is well worth the trip! Do some research before going if you require any assistance getting around as there are cobble streets and a steady incline getting to and leaving the area.

The Luxor Obelisk in Paris is part of a pair of Ancient Egyptian pillars. They were carved and stood on either side of the entrance of the Luxor Temple in the reign of Ramesses II.One of the Pillars can still be found in Egypt, while the other one is in Paris at Place de la Concorde. This Obelisk is 23 metres tall, 250 tons and was named as a national monument in 1936.It arrived in France in 1833 and in October of the same year, it was established in the presence of King Louis Phillipe I.It is made of yellow granite with hieroglyphs inscribed on it honouring the Pharaoh Ramesses II.

The Luxor Obelisks are a pair of ancient Egyptian obelisks, over 3,000 years old, carved to stand either side of the portal of the Luxor Temple in the reign of Ramesses II (c. 1250 BC). The right-hand (western) stone, 23 metres (75 ft) high, was moved in the 1830s to the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France, while the left-hand (eastern) obelisk remains in its location in Egypt.
A fuir.

Flame of Liberty or Princess Diana Memorial has a breeze of peace and sadness. It was a rainy day and also a day where there was no cars crossing down under the bridge, there was the 2023 Paris Marathon, it was peaceful and quiet, runners running under the bridge with no crowds just peace and quiet in the streets, it was serene and it was the perfect moment to go pay our respects to the beautiful queen of hearts Diana. The flame is pretty but a statue of the princess should be built here along with it, as it would be even more beautiful, the photos and writings on the floor look tacky and they really don’t do her majesty justice of what she deserves as thousands of people go and visit this location just to commemorate the life of a soul that seemed to understand other souls and it connected with the world like no other from the royals, no matter what they do. It is not just the actions, it is the soul that she came with, it’s just her special gift, like magic she was born with.
We found this place by accident. We were walking back to the metro and suddenly my wife pointed to this place. Then we spend some time together looking at the flame, and photos of Princess Diana and felt the emotion linked to this place. It will take you to those beautiful memories once again.
Very interesting use of lights to engage people during Easter

Nice area, nice little bit of history to look at. We started a trip here which again was located in a nice area and then it followed on to Champs-elysees and then to the Arc de Triomphe
I had a great time at Mont Saint Michel this Christmas. December is a lovely time of year to go. It was so empty! The whole place was there for us to explore in the cool breeze with wonderful sea views from the highest points and no queues!

The Luxor Obelisk, situated in the middle of the Place de la Concorde is at a junction between the Jardin Des Tuileries and the Champs Élysées with a straight line view to the Arc de Triomphe in one direction and the Musee du Louvre in the other. This ancient structure has historical significance as it was a gift to France from an Egyptian ruler in the 19th century. Surrounding the Place de la Concorde on one side is the Rue de Rivoli with some lovely old buildings and on the other side the Musee d’Orangerie and a view of the Eiffel Tower.

Stunning! But why Paris has so many touristic places where the ground is gravel and it is so dusty, dirty, and uncomfortable. Just saying, no hate. LoL
Una bella caratteristica fontana con lo sfondo di antiche case...
Located between the Louvre musuem and Tuileries gardens , Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon's military victories in the Wars of the Third and Fourth Coalitions.
Amazing especially in the sunset time. This city perfectly aligned and symmetrical and this arc shows it.

Superbe fontaine richement fleurie. D'une beauté remarquable. On y trouve également quelques poissons.
This is one of the best locations to visit while in Paris. I would say first place, especially if you aren't lazy enough to walk around and inhale the spirit of old Paris. Each time we visit this Basilica we find something new!
Un lieu magnifique et un balade parfaite pour les petits et les grands
Nice house. Nice decoration. Im still looking for the heads.

Really cool experience, you can really spend a bit of time here reading all of the displays and material they have. The views from the top were breathtaking and it is a don't miss spot. It was well worth the extra ticket, it was only a few bucks more and it let us skip a line which was helpful since we were trying to zoom all around Paris in one day.
Built by Napoleon, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is not as majestic as the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées, but its colors and details make it immensely beautiful. It served as the entrance to his palace where the Louvre Museum is located today.
An architectural landmark in the Empire style, constructed in front of the Tuileries Palace by order of Napoleon to immortalize his victories between 1806 and 1808. From the arch, a 9-kilometer historical axis was laid out, composed of the Place de la Concorde, the grandiose Champs-Élysées with the Triumphal Arch, and the Grande Arche de la Défense.

The design of the arch was prepared by Charles Percier and Pierre Fontaine, who drew inspiration from the forms of the ancient Arch of Constantine in Rome. The structure is crowned with the quadriga of Saint Mark, brought from Venice. After Napoleon's downfall, it was replaced with a sculptural composition depicting the allegorical triumph of the Bourbons, created by sculptors François-Frédéric Lemot and François-Joseph Bosio.

The subjects of the sculptural ornamentation for the arch were personally selected by Dominique Vivant-Denon. They depict the Peace of Pressburg, Napoleon's triumphal entry into Munich and Vienna, the Battle of Austerlitz, the Congress of Tilsit, and the Fall of Ulm. Additionally, the arch is adorned with heraldic symbols of the Italian Kingdom and the French Empire.

Since 1888, the arch has been recognized as a historical monument.
Louis XIV de Bourbon was the eldest son of Louis XIII and Anne of Austria. He was also called Louis the Great or Sun King. ( Louis le grand, louis roi soleil)
I noticed the arc when I was taking pictures of the pyramid of the Louvre. it was across the road and we ended up walking there.
The first thing I noticed was the golden figures beside the horses on the top of the arc. There were carvings on both sides of the arc, with one set just above the door arches and another just below the top. You could also walk under the arc which was quite nice.
The area around the arc was also quite nice. We were there at night so it wasn't too busy so it was nice to get photos. It also had a nice view of the Eiffle tower.
A statue in the middle of a roundabout. The statue is quite large. Cars circle it relentlessly. A horse is depicted, as is a rider. His name was Louis. There is a confluence of boulevards centred on the statue. The statue appears to be bronze. Do you think I've hit 200 characters?

Quite a beautifully maintained statue. You can feel the might and power of Louis XIV as he rides the horse.
Should you ever be in the area, this statue is worth taking a minute getting into the roundabout and inspecting it closer.
Arc de Triompe du Carrousel is located at the eastern end of the Jardin du Tuileries just in front of Museo du Louvre. This is a triumphal arc built between 1806-08 to celebrate Napolean's military successes. It it approximately half the size of the famous Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile, which was completed nearly 30 years later at the end of the Champs-Elysees.

Interestingly, from the Arc de Triompe du Carrousel, you can actually see the Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile looking straight past the Obelisk at Place de la Concorde around half way between these two monuments. The arc is ornamental including reliefs depicting military campaigns, Corinthian columns and a copy of the Quadriga of St. Mark's monument from Venice resting atop the monument.

The Arc de Triompe du Carrousel is one of many interesting things to see during visits to Jardin du Tuileries. Have a look during the day as well as at night when they the monument is lit with flood lights. It looks nice after hours as well.
Enchanted square. One of the 5 royal squares in Paris. But in my opinion this one wins over the others. It's small but so smart and cool. It was a set location for the movie The Tourist starring Angelina Jolie

This is oneo f the prettiest squares in Paris and often overlooked. It has become something of a shopping hub, with lot of trendy and fashionable shops dotted around it. The statue itself, it's worth noting, has the once glorious King disproportionately sized in regards to his mounted steed.
