Lovely historical monument. Is included in the combined ticket therefore went to see. With all honesty wouldn’t be worth seeing for 8euro as there is not much to see & hardly any information about it!
It was ok, pleasant way to spend 20mins. Ticket was included in Acropolis Multi ticket, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered. Fortunately we get a much more atmospheric view of the Temple from our Hotel roof top balcony.
The staff were so friendly, it was especially nice to speak about philosophers and Greece with the gift shop gentleman who was VERY knowledgeable. I do wish there was more information about the history or the inscriptions in the stone.
Fascinating to see the life and the life's work of the first Greek folklorist. The house is beautiful and this was a lucky happenstance. Enjoyed our visit very much.
Purchased this little guy from a seller on this side walk. Adorable. Highly recommend.

The atmosphere is amazing, the temple is surrounded by nature and some hills, with other relics of long times passed. A very magical place and definitely a must see!
Amazing, creative space! Always filled with activities and workshops!

A great place to get the view of Athens from different angles (you can see Acropolis, the sea and Lycabettus hill from there), in some places you will find no people and can enjoy the beauty of the city in complete quietness. Some of the stairs can be slippery so I would avoid coming here in the rainy weather.
Beautiful walkway, though quite touristy and can be crowded, same about the restaurants around - you will not see many locals there. It can be really beautiful at night, when it’s foggy after rain and you can have a pleasant walk to Philopapou hill from there.
One of the most interesting and vibrant places you must visit during your stay in Athens is the Flea Market in Monastiraki.
It is not really a flea market except on Sundays when some of the stores close and people bring tables and carpets and sell all kinds of stuff from useless junk to antiques.
You have to get here early because after about 12 the crowd becomes impossible and if you want to take a break it's difficult to find available table at the many cafes and restaurants in the area.
Since ancient times, the wider area around Monastiraki hosted the central commercial and economic traffic of the city. Thus, during the Archaic times there was the Ancient Market, during the Roman times the Roman market, while during the Frankish and Turkish times the Staropazaro and the Old Market on Mitropoleos Street

Really nice place to get a comprehensive view of the city. Feels like an adventure in of itself and you get to see most of the city from this viewpoint, the whole place combines the idea of an archeological site and a walk through the park. Free access, nice views and you have descriptions of different elements. Definitely a nice place to get a view of the acropolis and for the sunset. At night it felt really safe as you could see people walking their dogs in the park or young people chatting.

A surprisingly easy hike to the top. Also perfect to watch sunset apart from the amazing 360° view of the city!
Took another route and saw ruins along the hike. Love it!

This is an absolutely amazing place to visit on Athens. The temple is still intact and it is the only ancient temple that is still intact in Athens. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as you need to walk uphill. The whole area is also worth seeing, it is so beautiful and lovely, and Acropolis Hill can be seen from this area!

This place is definitely worth a visit. Good priced tickets, friendly and helpful staff, and very close to the park and other areas.
Imagine stepping into a realm where myths breathe, and gods mingle with mortals. Nestled within the heart of the Ancient Agora of Athens, the Temple of Hephaestus stands as a grand testament to divine craftsmanship and eternal beauty. This isn't just another pile of ancient rocks; it's a portal to the past, a place where Hephaestus himself, the god of fire, metalworking, and fine arts, would give his divine nod of approval.

Let's get personal with this architectural marvel, shall we? The Temple of Hephaestus, also affectionately known as Hephaisteion or Theseion, is quite the showstopper. It's like the Brad Pitt of temples – ridiculously good-looking and surprisingly well-preserved. Standing there, with the temple's Doric columns reaching towards the sky, you can't help but feel a tad bit insignificant, yet entirely connected to the fabric of ancient times.

Now, picture this: you're walking around the temple, and it hits you – this structure has been standing since around 450 BC. That's centuries upon centuries of history, wars, and whispers of the past, all encapsulated in this magnificent edifice. It's mind-boggling, to say the least. The temple's sturdy marble columns, intricate friezes depicting the labors of Hercules and the exploits of Theseus, all speak of a time when gods and heroes roamed the earth.

But here's where it gets personal. The Temple of Hephaestus isn't just an archaeological site; it's a storyteller, a silent guardian of Athens' glorious days and turbulent nights. As you stand in its shadow, you can't help but wonder about the countless individuals who've stood where you stand, looking up in awe, perhaps seeking divine inspiration or simply marveling at the beauty of it all.

The preservation of the temple adds to its charm. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the Temple of Hephaestus has dodged the bullet of ruin. It's almost as if Hephaestus himself cast a protective shield over his temple, keeping it almost intact through the ages. This remarkable state of preservation makes the temple not just a relic of the past but a bridge to ancient civilization, offering us a glimpse into the architectural prowess and artistic vision of ancient Greeks.

So, here's my take: visiting the Temple of Hephaestus is like having a one-on-one with history. It's personal, it's profound, and it's pretty darn cool. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or just someone who appreciates the finer things in life, this temple is a must-visit. It's not every day you get to hang out where gods once mingled with mortals, after all.

In wrapping up this personal ode to the Temple of Hephaestus, I urge you: when in Athens, make your way to this ancient marvel. Walk its grounds, touch its stones (metaphorically, of course), and let the millennia of history wash over you. It's an experience that's both humbling and exhilarating, a reminder of the incredible tapestry of human history and the enduring allure of ancient Greece.
Lovely paths in the green
Apostle Paul Street is a pedestrian promenade that's lined with restaurants, bars, and clubs. There is a great view of the Acropolis and the ancient Agora from certain parts of the street, hence its allure. It is worth visiting if you don't mind spending a little extra, as most of the establishments are tourist oriented and, therefore, pricey. Very lively during the night.

It's pretty much a modern building built in a classicist style that can provide some respite from walking in its colonnaded courtyard. Nice enough, but buildings like this are a dime-a-dozen in Europe so most travelers won't be too impressed
The Temple of Hephaestus is one of the most well-preserved ancient temples in Greece. It was dedicated to the god Hephaestus and Athena Ergani. It is located in the area of Theseion, which got its name because of the old, now revised, attribution of the temple to Theseus. It is part of the archaeological site of the Ancient Agora of Athens.
It is a very impressive building with rich historical past. If you go there with no people it is very quietly and calmly. When you enter the building from the main entrance and go forward inside the building you get into a circle-styled "garden" with a small fountain in the middle of it. Personally it was a very interesting experience that "teleports" you to the old greek aristocratical architecture. I recommend this place!

Astonishing well preserved Greek temple that is worth a good visit. The state of the temple is amazing and it is so well preserved! It is really beautiful to walk around this ancient Greek temple with the acropolis and parthenon in the background. The walk to the temple requires taking some stairs.

A beautiful park in the middle of the city. A nice place to eat your lunch on a bench, read a book, paint or walk in the zen gardens, or attend to the pond and the ducks.
The kids playground is exceptionally loud, need to walk far to avoid the noise.
Perfectly connected on the hop on and off bus, strategically for tourists.
There’s a lot of shade from the trees, which my guess makes it a popular place in summer when it’s boiling hot
Lots of shops selling beautiful local stuff. Great for tourists to buy souvenirs and gifts. Clothes, shoes, leather, ceramics, traditional dresses, textiles, etc.

Absolutely awesome place to visit, the building’s architecture is stunning, it’s still in amazing condition. It’s very well preserved and maintained. I really enjoyed my time here and I would definitely recommend visiting the Temple of Hephaestus.
Located withinin the Ancient Agora, a small walk up some steps and you are here.
You can walk around the building and you are able to see straight through the building.
There is not many information notices so I would recommend reading about it prior to entry.
You are only able to walk around it if you pay to go in to the Agora
You get cheap stuff in the market but be careful with some items because they may not work

I got some used and good 👍 items and they are working perfectly
In my opinion this temple is much more worthwhile than the Parthenon. For starters, it is standing in its original form, unaltered by modern reconstruction, and it is very nearly complete! Additionally, there are fewer tourists, not to say that there are no tourists at all, but fewer... and you can get much closer to the actual building. It gives you a real idea of what ancient temples may have been like...well kind of, anyway, without the paint and what not. I highly recommend it.
On the way from the grave of the unknown soldier to the Plaka you'll likely run into the grand ruins of the Temple of the Olympian Zeus. The remains of the temple are fairly spectacular, not too crowded, and the tickets are reasonable. You can get close enough to the columns though you are not allowed to wander around them, which is too bad... It is above all an excellent spot for photos, I do wish there was more explanation about the sight though.

A must visit spot for those who enjoy sunsets and absolutely stunning views all around from snow capped mountains to the Saronic Gulf and everything in between. Easy stroll from the busy parts of central Athens, but do bring water and a snack because you’ll want to stay for a while. There are multiple elevations and view points at the top, and it’s recommended visitors check out each spot to appreciate the different perspectives. From the top, trails head down in all directions, an opportunity to see something new on the way back down.

Not the biggest I’ve been in but they are really cute and have some amazingly tall specimen trees. The various statues are nice, the fishponds full of Koi Carp and the duckpond has its feathered residents enjoying human company. It had a park for kids but I didn’t see any Terrapins at the Terrapin Parthenon, but I may have missed it. All in all, it was an attractive place to visit.

Would I recommend? Yes, for naturalists, garden lovers and families.

Would I return? Next time I’m in Athens I will return and have a picnic there.

Delightful

The Zappeion Megaron is a part of national heritage of Greek civilization, designed by T. Hansen (1874-1888). Evangelis Zappas, a Greek patriot and benefactor from North Epirus, envisaged the rebirth of the spirit of ancient Greece and devoted his life to the revival of the Olympic Games and the promotion of the Αrts.

The Zappeion Megaron has been an active part of Greece's history and that of Hellenism, for the last 130 years. Cultural events of great importance take place within the precinct. The Olympia(d) and Bequests Committee, not only highlights the historical milestones related to the Olympic activities, but also to those related to the cultural identity of Greece in general.

The Committee aspires to fulfil the aims of Zappeion and to be conducive to the industrial, financial and cultural growth of Greece.

Access: by foot / underground / bicycle.

Enjoy!

Great view from philipapops monument both towards the acropolis and on the other side towards the seafront of Athens. Great sunset spot (for seaview). Came to watch fireworks from here for new year's. The park was well lit and very easily hikable in the dark. The entrance is the north east connecting with the walk ways from the acropolis. We did not find any other entrancez open despite the Google map walking directions.

Climb up to get a great view of entire Athens. This hill is the highest of all 3 hills surrounding Acropoli. The trek is easy. On the way you can see the prison of socrates. The view from top is great.
An amazing place for history and mythology lovers. But most of it is now in the process of restoration and much is not visible. But, I understand that in order to preserve such a valuable temple, this work is necessary.
It is very nice! All old stuff. Open on Sunday

I really enjoyed this market, especially the little coves where they sold antiques on tables. They have lots of booths and stores with new things but of course the antiques are what make it unique in the world. Allow an hour or three to really walk around and enjoy the sights. You’ll walk by Hadrian’s Library while shopping. Like nothing else in the world!

Many weekend events for kids or music events for younger public. Nice Xmas markets. Pop Up shops of local artisanals. There is always a part where history of local shops will be displayed as well. Great place of our neighborhood Kipseli in general.
Beautiful house about the academic work of the first greek folklorist with interesting exhibitions, however it should not be forgotten that this is literally a person's house which has been converted to a museum so it's not the most traditional experience, but interesting regardless

During my stay in Athens, I had the pleasure of visiting the National Garden, and it was a true haven of tranquility amidst the bustling city. This park, also known as Ethnikós Kípos, showcases a stunning variety of plants and trees, many of which are exotic and unique. The meticulously maintained paths are perfect for strolling and wind through picturesque landscapes that invite relaxation and reflection.

The serene ponds and fountains within the park create a peaceful atmosphere. It's remarkable how this garden hosts such diversity of flora and fauna in the heart of a busy metropolis. The shaded benches under large trees offer ideal spots for reading a book or simply enjoying nature.

For families with children, the park also provides excellent facilities. There are playgrounds and ample space for kids to safely play and enjoy outdoor freedom. Animal lovers will appreciate the variety of bird species, and there's even a small zoo within the park.

Overall, the National Garden is a beautiful, well-maintained park that offers a welcome break from the city's hustle and bustle. It's perfect for a relaxed afternoon, whether for a walk, a picnic, or just to unwind. I highly recommend a visit here for anyone who loves nature and seeks a peaceful spot in Athens.

Zappeion is a magnificent gem in the heart of Athens. This historic building and garden complex are a true testament to Greece's rich cultural heritage. The architecture is stunning, and the well-maintained gardens provide a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Whether you're here for a leisurely stroll, to admire the neoclassical beauty, or attending an event, Zappeion offers a unique and serene experience. A must-visit for anyone exploring Athens.
Really beautiful place. We went here during the morning and it is the perfect place to start your day. Very relaxing and a lot of things to see! Make sure to bring some snacks as they have places where you can have a picnic. Also, the place is very close to the city center so very convenient!
Interesting architecture and good for a short stroll or to sit and enjoy some of the sidewalk musicians.
In the vibrant and energetic heart of Athens, a city pulsing with history and modernity, there lies an enclave of tranquility - the National Garden. Amidst the towering edifices of commerce and the ceaseless rhythm of urban life, this verdant haven offers a respite to the weary and solace to the soul-searching.

The garden unfurls like a lush green tapestry, woven with myriad shades of nature. Towering trees, their canopies interlacing, stand as ancient sentinels, casting dappled shadows on the ground below. Their shade offers a cool embrace to visitors, shielding them from the fierce Mediterranean sun and creating a microclimate of breezy reprieve. The rustling of leaves, whispering age-old secrets, mingles with the distant hum of the city, creating a harmonious symphony of old and new.

Meandering through this verdant expanse are gentle brooks, their babbling waters a soothing soundtrack to the contemplative ambience. These streams crisscross the garden, their silvery trails acting as liquid pathways guiding visitors on a journey of discovery and reflection.

Nature's melody is amplified by the chorus of birds that have made the garden their abode. Their cheerful tweets and songs punctuate the stillness, adding a touch of vitality to the serene surroundings. Amidst the foliage, one can spot flashes of color - birds taking flight or perching, engaged in their daily ballet of survival and song.

For families, the garden is more than just a nature retreat; it's a haven of joy. Sprinkled throughout are playgrounds, where the laughter of children resonates, their innocent play juxtaposed against the backdrop of timeless nature. These spaces of joy become arenas where memories are crafted, where city children connect with the earth and with each other.

The National Garden of Athens is not just a park; it's a sanctuary. It embodies the spirit of coexistence - of history with modernity, of nature with urbanity, and of serenity with vivacity. In the midst of the relentless pace of city life, it stands as a gentle reminder of the healing power of nature and the importance of finding moments of quiet in our increasingly noisy world.
Taking pottery lessons for the first time.
Such an exciting experience!
Please check out the tortoises and turtles, it was the absolute highlight for me. So green and beautiful- the turtles and the garden. Happiest of surprises being that there’s not only one turtle pond but two! How good! 10/10 for botanic gardens, Athens has aced it.
Cheaper souvenir options available here for tourists. Do not expect too many quality options though, it's a quantity marketplace. We found some good outlets here for our spoils.

Please do note that most shops here close by 9pm. Some good restaurant will still be open though so choose your poison...

This museum was a surprise !
It is a hidden gem to find out interesting historical culture and the great story of intriguing Aggeliki Hadjimilaki
All highly recommended !!!
I am so sorry I didn't take any picture. We were there to join beer festival and I drank the best beer ever - sour one with kind of citrus flavour.
Two guys with a table in the end, please, please, please, let us k ow your brand name!!!
Fest was great!

Market is small but really alright. Events are very promising.
Cool place to hang with a group of friends. A lot of events to check out, plenty of bars around. All in all a very lively square usually full of a hip crowd at night on weekends.
I was just wandering around in the National gardens to the east of the Acropolis and came across this imposing edifice. Apparently, it is used as an event venue. The main entry door was unlocked, so I was able to see the rather elegant entry hall containing many elements of classical architecture. What I saw made for grand photos. I would imagine a formal dinner in here would be a delightful experience.
I loved this place! I booked an Airbnb for a month in Athens and this was around the corner. One weekend there was a pottery show on and we bought some epic espresso cups. The following weekend it was a food and music festival as part of Athens city festival. Monday to Friday local sellers sell olive oil and vegetables but the weekend it really comes alive.

According to the details in google it was supposed to be open. Went there on 23rd of December, rang the bell, nobody opened, called them twice, nobody picked up the phone. It would be better to update your working hours.
A perfect day out at the base of the acropolis and also the surrounding area of thrisiou (Θησείο) what an area you have to visit this if you're in Athens the view of Athens itself is fantastic ,I visited the famous rock in which the apostolo Pablo or Paul came and preached to the Athenians the words of Jesus it also was the site of the Athenian courts at that time where people were tried maybe condemned or freed under the Parthenon, also worth noting Socrates was condemned here because he refused to believe in the mystic 12 gods of Athens, he believed there was only one God, he was tried and ordered by the council to die by his own hand by taking poison in which he did for his beliefs, his students accepted his fate and vowed to continue his beliefs.
Nice
A very small local handcrafted market. There are only about 10 stores/stalls. It's in a very non-touristy area. Took about 5-10 mins to walk and shop through. Very small market

Good spot to visit while you are on the way up to Acropolis!
Rest in peace
It's a wonderful experience. My children loved it
Incredible museum with detailed knowledge in a beautiful space
If you are interested in Greek folklore and traditional art and everyday life, this is the place to visit. Angeliki Chadjimichali was a major scholar and collector of Greek traditional art. Her house that nowadays hosts the museum, is decorated according to traditional greek art. A big part of her collection and her writings are exposed.
Tried to see this place two years in a row and they are never open when they say they are. People if you were here right now I am waiting outside your door. Very disappointed because I cannot see your ceramic heart.
It is a very beautiful garden, with a variety of plants, and has many pedestrian monopaths, quiet nature!
The museum is closed today on monday at 1 pm. No special information on the web about this closure. We came especially to visit these place and are very disappointed!

There is nothing but ruins.
It was the house of an important woman. It is a quite big three storey building that houses personal furniture of the owner and many donated objects. It is quite interesting and the entrance is free of charge. Unfortunately they don't allow to take photos. If you have plenty of time pay a visit.
A perfect example of how social economy is implemented into an urbanised and historical Athenian neighbourhood. Social services, marketplaces, educational courses, community events all rolled in one. Children and family friendly atmosphere, Municipal Market is here to stay and thrive.
A specialist museum. Special events are great!
