Nice place to have a walk around. There is a museum and lots of ruins. Lots of animals like tortoises, cats and parrots live here too. Worth a visit, especially if you have the Athens pass
In winter it closes at 3pm. It’s still highly worthwhile going here and taking a look whether it is open or closed. Entry is €4. There are peaceful spots to sit or walk on two of the four sides outside of the complex, as will as a little lookout.
Unrivalled views, nearly flat path that takes max 10 minutes' walk from the park (signage is hidden, stairs are a few meters ahead of the arrow for Socrates's prisons).
No artificial lights and flat stones, so it may not be safe to go on a dark wet night (although I didn't try).

Away from crowded tourist you can visit this place and take nice pictures and enjoy the view. We arrived there by e scooter 🛵! I found the activity on airbnb
Fantastic to walk around and free as it is every first Sunday of the month . Amazing how they built places like this with such primative tools. There's a fabulous Spartan shrill on display too
It is really unfortunate that the attraction is mainly covered with scaffolding currently, ruining (pun intended) the sights. It will probably look much better once maintenance is over.
Nevertheless, it is quite a towering structure, and worth visiting if you are in Athens ruins with the €30 combo pass. The Hadrian’s Arch and the Panathenaic Stadium are nearby too, so be sure to visit them.

The site overall is uneventful. I'm missing the info plaques describing the findings. You have some, but it's not enough. On top of that, the site doesn't have clear paths or a clear organization of where you should go, so you just end up wandering around pointlessly. The best part about the site is the museum. That was totally worth the visit!
Good outside area to explore and nice indoor museum with statues and pottery. Best to read up on it before going to get familiar with it’s importance as an ancient wall area and cemetery. (And the occasional tortoise wandering the grounds.)
Wow . This is an amazing temple and in pretty good condition . It's towering over the Agora complex where all the Athenian lives were focused thousands of years ago . I wished we could see it in its pristine condition as it once was . I was speechless.

If you suffer from FEAR OF HEIGHTS, VERTIGO, then from here, you can get the best 360-degree view of the city without fear. The whole hill is a great place to admire the views and to walk in nature. The climb is moderate. There are wide, well maintained paths as well as dirt trails. It is peaceful and tranquil all around. Lots of locals.

Located in Ancient Agora, it can be seen from everywhere. Look like it was saved from destructions and preserved really well. The columns, the details, the entire structure is wonderful.
A picturesque and moderately challenging climb (depending how hot it is outside) with many sights, beautiful foliage, and stone pathway. There are plenty of historic sights as you climb, such as Socrates' Prison and Philopappos monument. At the top, the view is spectacular from all 360 angles. Just below the monument is a large seating area to take a small break. While it is absolutely breathtaking at sunset, be sure to give yourself time to get back down as there is little lighting and many uneven stones.
It is one of the most interesting museums - especially for kids. All visiting kids could not get enough of all the different animals! Overall personnel was very polite - no need to prepurchase tickets if you go early. There is also a climate change exhibition with lots of interactive demonstrations. Kids will have a blast!

Not the most difficult mountain to climb in the Athens. Totally worth it to see the sunset from this hill. You can see all of the city and the sea from up here.
One of the world's must sees. Been here years ago and it's great to see many people. Make sure that you venture into the side streets and check out the many "many" cafe's and shops too. Brimming with atmosphere
The best view on Acropolis in my opinion. Also an incredible view on Athens. Also the walk to the top and around the park is a quite nice experience itself.
It’s free to walk around these historical grounds. Was nice to stop by for a walk and see the ruins of this temple. Would definitely recommend checking it out.
The site is surrounded by some main roads and is located within few minutes of walking distance from the very famous Acropolis site. One cost effective approach is to purchase a combo ticket for multiple sites that includes the Temple of Olympian Zeus. From the outside of the site, you can already see the giant columns and ruins standing up. Once you've entered the site, you can walk a bit and also find a bench to sit down and watch the ruins. Plenty empty space at the site, and from within you can see the Acropolis site from far.
You can walk to the nearby Hadrian's Arch for free and get a view through the fence which lets you see most of the site. A large part is under scaffolding and there were very few information boards to explain what you were looking at. I certainly wouldn't recommend buying a single ticket just for this site. We only went in because it was covered with the slightly more expensive Acropolis ticket. We were there for about 15 minutes.

Love this place! It feels far away from the crowd of the Acropolis but affords a great view of it, as well of the port and surrounding city. Plus it’s free.
Lovely garden in the heart of the city that is free to take a stroll through. There are statues of heads of the gods strewn throughout beautiful collections of flowers and plants. We even saw a turtle out for a walk while we were there! Would recommend including the garden in a detour as we did on our way to the panathenaic stadium. Didn’t spend too much time but was well worth it.

The model temple that helped modern archeologists to understand the Parthenon & other ancient structures. Absolutely a must do while walking around the Acropolis because it’s much less crowded and just as amazing!
Absolutely one of the best views of the entirety of Athens, for free. An absolute must for any traveling to Athens. The Acropolis is visible, the surrounding mountains are in plain view, and the whole city sits beneath your very eyes.
A wonderful place in Athens. It is well worth going with a tour guide to learn exactly about the walls of Ancient Athens, but also about the customs and manners that were in force at that time. Beyond the archaeological site, the museum located there is particularly interesting and well-kept. More a magnificent monument of ancient Greek culture.

and now is public park of 15.5 hectares in the center of the Greek capital, Athens and located directly behind the Greek Parliament building (The Old Palace) and continues to the South to the area where the Zappeion is located, across from the Panathenaiko or Kalimarmaro Olympic Stadium of the 1896 Olympic Games. The building itself is closed and you can make pictures from outside. I loved to see in the park turtles 🐢 and geese 🪿 and ducks 🦆 there in the cute pond. Many restrooms are closed so be aware of that :)

Absolutely beautiful park/garden, very well maintained, numerous well-kept paths, easy to walk from the Olympic Stadium to Syntagma Square.

Loved this park, it's huge but told the great sort of Athens and the surrounding area. If you love walking and going off piste, this is the place for you. The views are great. If you want to visit the observatory check the opening times as it's only open a few days a week at wired time.
Absolutely fantastic arciological site. Very big and interesting. It's worth buying the all inclusive ticket for £30 which gets you into all of the sites including the acropolis over 5 days.
The centre with the fountain and the Zappeion palace is amazing.
It’s an impressive building and it could be a nice idea for kids and toddlers in order to see actual sized animals. My kid thought they weren’t real and that they were pretend animals like the dinosaur park we went to (which is for the best as I think it would upset her if she knew they were dead real animals). The accessibility is quite disappointing. It’s 2023 and people with children, strollers and wheelchairs should be able to access all areas.
Not as popular as Acropolis of course. This temple has a very interesting history. I suggest you read about it first before coming to visit. There’s an incredible view of the Acropolis from this archaeological site.
I absolutely loved this temple. It was arguable the most well preserved temple I’ve seen so far in Greece. We came here after visiting Acropolis and I loved visualizing how the Parthenon probably was constructed in this smaller form. The views of the city were impressive as well as Acropolis in the background. We also found a baby kitten that wouldn’t stop playing with us. No complaints there either. I’ve included a video of the kitten for those interested in that lol.
Extremely well-preserved and worth the hike! The temple is gorgeous, and the tickets to enter the Agora are pretty cheap as well. If you're under 25 (and are not an EU citizen), it's only 5€ to get in as of 2023. The regular price is 10€. It's absolutely worth it to view this beautiful monument!
Probably the best spot in Athenes to watch sunrise. Not crowded, spectacular view of the entire city and Acropolis with sun quickly rising out of the mountain.

Not a whole lot to see, you can walk around the ruins and statues area in maybe 20-30 minutes. The quality of the statues and ruins are great and you can still make out plenty of details.

I would highly recommend taking a walk here at night! Beautiful view of the city and lovely nature. Truly the perfect place to relax and wind down after a long and tiring day in the city! The views are breathtaking and the lighting on the Acropolis really adds to the atmosphere.
Its a nice hike up to this place and the views are totall worth it! This place makes you realize just how big Athens really is. You can see the sea, the Acropolis and a large part of Athens from this spot! Its really nice and cool here in the evenings so a lovely place to sit.

One of the best places in Athens if you want to feel nature, feel like you're in the jungle. 😅 we came here by accident, it wasn't planned, but I really liked this garden. I even visit it for two days in a row. If I would have more time I would come more and more.

If you want to get one of the best view of Acropolis and Athens for free, this is the place to go. During summer I would recommend going in the morning. Took my wife and 9 year old kid and the hike wasn’t that bad. You do have be in a good shape to make the hike. For me this is a must just for the view. The monument itself is not bad, but is not really the main reason to visit.
Impressive statue and the area around it is nicely kept. The park is full of people walking their dogs and joggers. Some areas of the park look a little neglected, but not too bad.
This was a lovely break in a busy day of sight seeing. There are so many different plants and areas to see. The ponds and lakes with the different fish and turtles were a nice surprise as well. We happily spent up to two hours just walking around enjoying some shade and peace after the chaos of the city. Some bits needed a little care but that’s expected with such a large park.

Slightly run down area unfortunately, there was lots of graffiti and the park itself needs some looking after. There was a lot of weeds and unruly plants. The main area was slightly nicer however with some blossoming trees and more people around.

The Natural History Museum is very suitable for children, but not only. Their parents can also learn new things from this museum.
Can agree that this is most decorative part of the Acropolis. The statues somehow mesmerised me. It is crowdy to take a photo of whole building without any in front of it, but can catch a details.

You have a really lousy policy of νότ respecting religious beliefs and cultures apart from your own religion and belief as government policy. Stop restoring mosques, which are artifacts of the Ottoman Empire, left over from the Turks you lived with for 450 years, you really destroyed it by doing this.
You have no respect for our common past and Turkish culture. There is no reason why these places of worship, which are historical monuments for humanity, are in such a neglected and bad condition. I am ashamed on behalf of humanity that you are fascist and racist in this way. While your ancestral churches are preserved in a restored state in Turkey and Anatolia, there is no explanation for what you did.

Big free park that's slightly cooler, open on Sundays and fantastic for a nice stroll,pick nick or casual walk. Beautiful garden, loads of plants of different varieties. Nice areas to sit down to read or do nothing.
Nice place to visit especially for families with kids. Although not a huge collection is exhibited, the information shared, the way of presentation and the amiable staff makes the visit a very nice experience and a place to learn things. There are three areas the natural history area, the climate change area and the earthquake section. If you are interested for the dome note that you must visit the museum well before 12 and you need to pay 5 euro more per person. Also, if you are travelling by car brace yourself because the free parking in the area is really challenging to find and the prices of paid ones are out of logic e.g. 5 euro for half hour.
It was a very interesting museum , suitable for family with children , except for exhibition, also has movie area showing 30 minutes movies related to nature , other than that has an area about the globule warming ,with experimental games , and videos . Very educational.only the parking near kifissia is always not easy , but there are many paid parking a nearby , or I recommend to go on Sunday when the shops are closed ,it would be easier relatively to find free parking .

Mammals, Insects, clams, shells + a whole floor of minerals , with good written descriptions all around in one place. Visit is good for younger kids too, just to have the 1st real world feeling with animals and natural world other than YouTube and documentaries . Every now and then museum organize some great events , with projections and other cool activities and offers a big rooms with tables so families can attend to. A small cafe is on the basement and you can enjoy a coffee or beverages. Covid measures were ON, and checking took place in the entrance. Also liquid disinfectants were strategically placed all around. What I would like to have in a future visit some VR guides or some QR-Code narration with information for exhibits but also ecological aspects , if they are threatened in their physical places and how this will affects our existence. I certainly recommend to visit the place. Small tip , on the smaller tags f.e at insects section , you can actually read when the exhibit was collected and from where... That was amazing.
Well preserved old Mosque close to the Roman Forum.
I recommend you to visit Acropolis Museum first, and see the original statues which are part of this historical building. Later on, while visiting Acropolis, you could recognise that you had seen these statues before. To sum up, the statues of maidens that you would see at this building are replicas made of gypsum.
It was the second time visiting this place but it gets me impressed every time!

One of the buildings located on the east side of the Parthenon in Acropolis is called Erechtheum Temple. One unique thing that we can see there was the porch in the north part lies 6 Ionic columns to support the structure but differently from the south part instead of 6 Ionic columns but the statue of 6 maidens that support the structure with their heads. Those statues represented the Women of Caryae. The story tells that Caryae women were doomed or punished to hard labor because the Caryae town sided with the Persians in 480 bc during their second invasion of Greece.

This is not a matter of religion, this is the downfall of a civilization ۔ Time has taught us how pride and arrogance have brought down the most glorious and perishable things۔ However, the mosque is a beautiful reminder of the Turkish era۔ There are some good and standard works for human beings in every age but there are many works that have saddened human history.
Beautiful mosque from the ottoman era. However as I walked inside I couldnt find any history of the mosque. There were lots of banners with info of the organisation that helped rennovate thus place. Its a shame this place is no longer used for what its meant for; praying. Entry to this place is via the Roman Forum of Athens. Tickets are €4 in winter and €8 in summer. Its a good deal in the winter. It will be a short visit because there isnt much up for viewing.
Probably the nicest most decorative part of the acropolis still standing. The statues have been replaced with copies though and are safely kept now in the mueseum
This historical Mosque was once part of the Roman Agora site but nowadays it doesn't serve anymore as a place for praying. One can visit and notice that it is well preserved and keeps an exhibition on the life of emperor Hadrian. Since it was built it was used for different purposes and it's only recently that it was transformed into a museum. Worth while to visit and watch the nice floor and the special construction of the roof. When I passend by , unfortunately it was closed.
It is sad that this historical mosque is not functioned as place for prayer any more. Hope some day, government will be willing to return this to original function as prayer building.
Small temporary exhibitions are organised in the mosque. Sadly, the mosque itself is only a shell, with a miniscule part of the original decoration remaining above the mihrab. Note that the mosque is part of the Roman Agora archaeological site. Free entry for EU students. Get the multi site pass if you plan on seeing many sites.
An interesting exhibition about the life and accomplishments of emperor Hadian. The building is well preserved.
