It's beautiful and clean but all the people are taking photos (it's forbidden though) and this way you can't observe the object. The description of a piece of art is only understandable for those who knows the Greek mythology and the architecture technical words. The terrace is nice plus the excavation area is cool to check.
Market area in a passage with lots of cute stores selling all kinds of fresh and packaged products. It is super nicely decorated. Though if you come early on a Sunday, unfortunately the stores are closed.
We visited here on our short stay in Athens and it’s definitely worth it. It’s only 3 floors and in the basement they have the excavated town, which is super interesting. Buy your tickets online and this will save you time in the queues. It isn’t a big museum, in a good way, so it doesn’t take long to go round. But some of the artefacts are so old, it’s super fascinating. The view of the Acropolis is also fantastic
Nice forest walk, there's a lot of steps to climb but plenty of places to rest. You are in the shade most of the time so it's a welcome break from the jot sun. Wear footwear suitable for walking on rough ground and up steps and take a bottle of water with you. There are a couple of places to buy refreshments. I recommend using the main entrance and walking to the upper part of the valley as there's more butterflies to see and nicer scenery on that route. Entrance fee is €5 per person. Worth a visit.
Beautiful excursion site with many stairs. Accordingly, instead of a stroller, a baby carrier is recommended if there are small children.

You can make in this place some good photos. But when we were there on Saturday evening there was a wedding at the same time with a lot of people...

A lovely place to walk. Lots and lots of steps going both up and down. Expected more varieties of butterflies but it is actually all one type, when we went in September there were loads around. Enjoyed our day here. Public transport in and out is quite limited.
This place is a magical experience! We started at the lower part of the park and felt that there wasn’t a lot of butterflies. But as we climbed higher and explored more, we discovered that there are thousands upon thousands of butterflies in this park. The mixture of nature with trees, creeks and waterfalls and the sheer beauty of butterflies flying all around you, makes this a place you have to visit! Absolutely magical!
Magical experience! Gorgeous waterfalls and nature combined with a lot of butterflies. The entry fee is really affordable. The hike is quite a challenge, with a lot of stairs. You need to be fit or have some determination to see everything. One star deduction because of the inaccessibility. This is not a wheelchair friendly trip.
Extremely beautiful and one of the most historic places on the planet. Definitely THE place to go when in Athens. Plan well, though. Wear what you would for a hike. The walkways are a bit slippery due the walking stone pathways being polished by thousands of years of walking. Bring water. No food is allowed though. There is water and snacks available in the area but the lines were very long. Go as early in the day as possible. It's very crowded and potentially very hot later in the day. Try to buy tickets online from the official website. It's not very clear where to go once there. We went to dinner the night before at a nice place with a cool nighttime view of the Parthenon. The outdoor market was fascinating. This is a good time to learn about the history and get some in-depth education about the Acropolis. The educational signs are very busy and hard to get a chance to read.

Very nice and interesting Monastery in the same time. They could sell some books about the history of the place... The place is very relaxing, the Golgota road is shady and pleasant. The cross place offers an amazing panorama.
One of the land's historically significant sites, can be walked around briskly, but most of the ruins can be viewed from behind the fence too.
I would definitely recommend stopping here before or after visiting the Acropolis! I loved seeing the Caryatids. There are also great views of the city if you go up towards the restaurant. (If you want to skip lines and get inside quicker, you can order tickets online).
Very breathtaking historical site, but super crowded. Make sure you get there at 8am and tour it as fast as you can, before you are hit by the high temperatures and the big waves of tourists and guide groups.

An Amazing Museum ! We took the short walk down from the Parthenon. Built on top of ruins , which you can view from catwalks . You have to leave the museum and enter from the left side .
The museum is 1st class and has a nice restaurant. FYI ...No drinking fountains, and if you use the elevators, they are a bit confusing . They don't all go to all the floors .

A cool ancient marketplace with some ruins of fountains, columns, and a building with some groundbreaking technology of the time. Buy the 5 day 30 euro pass which will get you into a lot of the ruins around
Very nice historical place. The main attraction of Athens is to see.
In the summer it is very hot with high humidity which makes it difficult to travel and wait in line to buy tickets under the sun.
But the place itself is very nice and significant.
I suggest buying tickets in advance if possible.

I really love this museum, good location, great ancient art and a fantastic building! I booked tickets via an app and entry in the early morning at about 9am. It was not crowded so I could see the Greek art details slowly. Do not forget to visit the basement where full of wells and can see the entire plan for the place.

Went with an acropolis and other sites ticket. It’s pretty low key but some interesting ruins at the back. I wouldn’t pay separately for it as you can see it all from outside.
Go there as early as possible. You can get a ticket for €30 that covers 7 places. Wonderful & historic place, the highlight of Athens definitely. Watch out when walking since there are many stones on the ground. Also, do not buy anything from the drink shop across the ticket office or you will be ripped off.
I really recommend buying tickets in advance and getting there about 15 minutes before opening so you don’t have to wait in the long line that is formed after opening.keep in mind that if your a EU youth under 25 you still have to have a ticket even though it’s free. You can either buy the ticket online or wait in different line to the ticket office
Amazing historical site in Athens! You can buy tickets ahead of time, during peak season I do recommend this. There are time slots to visit as well. If you are going to see multiple sites, you can buy the combo ticket. The walk-up is nice, I think going in the morning or evening is best to beat the heat / sun. Expect crowds. Easy walk up, and there is a lot to look at. Great way to overlook Athens too. Enjoy!
According to tradition, the monastery was founded by the daughter of a Byzantine emperor, a Byzantine Princess, who was plagued by a deadly illness and miraculously healed. The ship which transported her from Constantinople, traveled to the port of Lindos and from there she moved to the area of Tharrio. The water of the spring that was found there and the fresh air contributed to her recovery. In return for her healing, she erected the monastery. The fountain to be found today about 100m. southwest of the Katholikon and outside the precinct, is believed to be the same of which the princess was healed, and is considered as a holy water.
We went there twice to look for some Greek products to bring back home with us. The shops that we went to had very friendly staff that were happy to talk about their local products. Of course, there were still a lot of empty lots, but the ones that were already there were great! If we get to come to Thessaloniki again, I wouldn't mind coming to Agora Modiano once more.
Beautiful monastery, peaceful place and full of peacocks. The monastery is one of the archeological sites within Rhodes and it has some constructions dated from Bizantine time. I do recommend going there early in the morning during the summer season, it is chilly! The ticket cost 6€ and children up to 13 did not pay, at least in our case!
Very easy booking from the website, had the tickets easily accessible on my phone. Know that if you purchase the audio guide you need your own earbuds for that, so we missed out although we purchased it. Got there early at 8 and it was already crowded but be patient. It’s worth it. Amazing amazing history here with placards to educate. Very slippery rocks/stairs even in the dry heat. If you're doing it in August bring/buy water and purchase tickets for the museum too. It was dangerously hot and we were grateful for the respite we found in the Acropolis Museum, which was also amazing. The restaurant was delicious and affordable. The sites/education were incredibly interesting. Every site is easily accessible if you get dropped off near the acropolis. There’s also luggage storage nearby if you need. We walked 10.5 miles during our day and saw everything!
A lovely, calm, and interesting place to visit (for free!) as part of the butterfly valley experience or a hike around that part of the island.

Amazing place to visit and to observe the butterflies in their habitat. The path is very quite because otherwise the butterflies would be disturbed.
The path is aprox. 1km long and the end is a terrace where you can buy drinks and to relax a little bit.

The Roman was something out of history itself, well preserved and incredibly breathtaking to look at. However, it is currently closed for renovations so we could not walk inside, still 5 stars because being closed for renovation does not ruin the experience! Highly recommended!
We were on a Mediterranean cruise and decided to do Athens on our own. We got a transfer from the port to Athens with no specific plans. The we arrived about 8:30am. The line to the Acropolis was extremely long. We noticed the museum across from the Acropolis entrance and decided to go, and I’m sure glad we did. We waited about 15 minutes for the museum to open. The artifacts on exhibit were incredible. We spent about 2 hours but could easily have spent a half day. The museum has a restaurant where we had a very good sandwich and beer. It is recommended that you do the museum before going to the Acropolis and I would agree for a different perspective. The museum is definitely worth seeing while in Athens.
One of my favorite places in Thessaloniki. Full of shops, restaurants, cafes, souvenirs, etc, with an upper floor to have a break, seat, and eat or drink whatever you ordered. Special mention for the two shops in front of the other : one does tuna (pasta), and the other does egg sandwiches. Both are absolutely divine. Must-visit in Thessaloniki
Such a serene place to visit. Really quiet because you need to be because of the butterflies. The walk is nice. You have your choice of 3 parking lots. Lot 1 is at the bottom, 2 is at the middle, and 3 is further up. I'd recommend lot 1 because you see some terpanines, a nice water feature, and it gently rolls you into the butterflies (technically moths). Try to go early in the morning before the crowds hit otherwise there are just throngs of people. Get your souvenirs early and bring a fair amount of water. FYI: they charge to use the bathroom.

To go there fir the second time I bought tickets from the Bus station, I think it was around 12-15 euro, the bus leaves at 10-11am and it leave from the butterfly valley at 15pm.
Very nice ambience with shading, cool, river flowing and butterflies flying.
Be aware, you have a few steps because you climb on the mountain so take comfortable shoes.

Amazing place to visit! Really gives you some insight into the daily lives of the ancient Greeks. There really isn’t a lot of shade so i recommend you pick your time to visit wisely. I visited during the afternoon and it was super warm! There were only a few visitors there besides my group, so it was relatively calm. Make sure you read all the information on the signs as this will make you understand this place much better.
It’s and open ground site so barely shaded. Hard to visit during peak sun time. Not impressive while compared to other structures around. The site lacks informational boards except for one structure. You need to read about the Roman Forum ahead of time to appreciate its history. It’s a good to see site, but if time is limited in Athens then you could skip it.
It’s a very good museum. The museum feels very open even when there are large crowds in there. I would recommend to use a tour to go through the museum as they will curate the history well. Otherwise you will be only looking at statues without context. There is a large portion of the Parthenon on the third floor which should not be missed. You will also get a good view of the Parthenon from this floor. The museum is well built with some archaeological ruins beneath the museum floor which can be seen though then glass flooring. Overall a great visit. Again make sure to use a tour guide so that you can understand what you are viewing and opportunity to skip the line.
A beautiful place to escape from the crowded Rhodes. Great atmosphere. Forest, greenery, brooks, peace and butterflies flying madly. Like in fairy tales. A memorable place if you love nature. I recommend! I visited the upper part of the park and really enjoyed it. I did not reach the lower one, it was very hot during the fires.
You can see this place has history is beautiful in the evening light. There’s a big car park and you’re charged entry when you walk up. The toilets are basic but clean. It feels like they’re very much improving the venue and it’s getting ready for tourist season. It’s missing a coffee shop and any information about the place.
Incredible museum filled with tonnes of information and historically significant statues and artifacts. I highly recommend the audio exhibit tour, which lets you have an audio guide at your own pace.
My favourite section was the top floor where you get to walk around the facade of the Parthenon. They've done a great job giving you a feeling of how it would have been in its prime. The cafe is great as well. Definitely a must visit in Athens before climbing the Acropolis

It's worth nothing that there are many butterflies there. However, they are all the same type, so if you expect a huge variety of colours, this is not the case. Nevertheless, it's worth the visit. You can also see some turtles, fresh water crabs, fish, or lizards. Kids will love it for sure.

Amazing museum, the architecture and design are magnificent. It is built over the ancient ruins of the town,which you can see it from above through the glass panels as you walk through as well.

Amazing views. €6 though to wander around and not see inside the buildings was a bit disappointing. It looks like they are making improvements for the future… the peacocks were stunning!

A beautiful and tranquil place to visit
Visited on 2nd July. There were thousands of butterflies, and the surrounding area is beautiful. The whole area is really well looked after and the €5 entry fee is definitely worth it. You can really see a lot of time, money and effort has gone into making this place special.
It is a big climb to the top, and the paths aren't great so make sure you are healthy enough to climb in the soaring heat. Take water with you

A must visit in Athens! I’d say, even for people not visiting museums on a regular it is worth to visit this museum!

Amazing valley! 🦋🦋Highly recommended. If you want to see butterflies, the perfect season goes from mid June until mid September. It is a nice walk through the valley. Make sure you get water with you as the journey is long. There are two spots with food/beverages.
Come for a snack, meal, coffee, cocktails, ice cream, and shopping! Upscale but not pretentious with food at every price point AND vegan (except the water store…that’s a bit much haha). And no upcharge for the location—same prices as you can find elsewhere in town. Plenty of seats upstairs.

♿️ friendly. Stores have no steps or a small lip for entry, and there is an elevator with ramp for the upstairs. HOWEVER, the bathroom door is transparent (see photo)!!! Not okay. Please ask management to fix.

Beautiful roman forum but there is more to be uncovered or restored maybe in the future years!
A lovely piece of Greek history. There was no queue to enter and it was not too busy inside. We used a city pass ticket to visit here. So did not need to pay on entry. The staff were friendly. However this venue we thought needed some more information boards. It lacked some historical explanations to the pieces of architecture, which was slightly disappointing.

We visited the monastery in the late afternoon. A wonderful place of calm.
This is an awesome place to visit, especially if you’ve already purchased the combination ticket!! You can walk right up to the ruins and really get a feel for how everything once looked. It’s in a great location, seeing as it is not too far from other major sites in Athens. I would definitely recommend coming at an earlier time of day, seeing as there’s not much shade and it can get very hot!
Stop at 1st stop from the Butterfly valley and walk to the Monastery through the valley. It is worthwhile the entrance fee with or w/o butterflies. June seems to be the 🦋 month. Avoid very hot or rainy days (slippery stones)
Quaint little monastery. Not a great deal to see as it is small but certainly worth the visit even if just for the views around the grounds.

The prices are a bit high but you get good quality.

Generally speaking, it’s a nice place with nice views. I do believe the monastery is more beautiful during the summer. We were here in may, the flowers and plants weren’t yet blooming so the place seemed a bit grey and boring. The entrance to the monastery costs 6 euros which on one hand isn’t much but on the other it doesn’t give you much. Honestly I wouldn’t judge anyone if they skipped the monastery part and went the other way to the cross and scenic view of Rhodes. Much more worth it + free. The entrance to the monastery is free for people under 25 from Europe. People under 25 outside Europe pay half price. There’s a small shop with drinks and candy which is super cheap so that’s a plus. There are Indian peafowls and pheasants running around freely but they seem calm and aren’t attacking tourists. A good and productive option is to go there by foot, the satisfaction you get once you make it to the top is unreal. However most people get there by cars. There’s a bus stop at the top but during spring (may) no buses were going there, so maybe in the summer when the tourist period starts. Worth the visit for the views.
Rhodes without this-You missed a lot. Please go to visit and let it make You peaceful. Taxi up, walking down recommended. Beautiful scenery. Peacocks noises are still on my head. Positive way.

I like that there are not a lot of blocked off areas. 6 euros to get in but it is a nice place with lots of places to take pictures. Restrooms are ok. Peacocks everywhere. There is a bus stop at the top but sure which one goes there.
When we visited here, it was closed due to restorations. However we could see it from the street side. Some biblical scholars believe it is the market place which is mentioned in the book of Acts 17:5 (NT), that apostle Paul and his companion was greatly pursecuted. Worth visiting if you're interested in the history.

We took a trip here to see the monastery. The roads were good to get there. It was very peaceful. The gardens are beautiful. As quiet as it was we still felt welcomed.

Some of the electricity is produced from solar panels.
The priest was very friendly and spoke perfect English, and good German.

Beware if you have bee allergies, as they’re all over this area.

The significance of this place may sometimes be overlooked by the casual traveler to Greece, but for a history lover it's a must see! It's basically the birthplace of democracy.

This is a majestic city with both ancient and modern attractions. The city has world-class shopping and prides itself with providing great customer service. There is a wide variety of food, which is amazing almost anywhere you decide to eat. This is definitely a very walkable city, although they have clean and safe public transit. We stayed in Kolinaki, and would definitely recommend the area.

Beautifully redone, but not all spaces are filled yet. Seems geared to tourists mostly with shops selling food items like Greek honey, cheese, meats plus some interesting places to eat, a good wine bar, an ice cream shop, German street food…. Upstairs has seating, a bar at each end and live music at one end.

Renovated and impressively modern Central Market of the historic center of Thessaloniki City. Many food products for purchase or immediate consumption. It seems that other interventions are also planned. Considerable positive action for the city, its residents and tourists. Worth more than one visit. It's hard to find a table on the mezzanine during busy hours and days. Have the experience on your visit in Thessaloniki City!
Amazing experience. Well worth the visit. Busy day, but despite the amount of people here the crowds were managed very well. No problems taking photos. If you have luggage there is a free cloakroom to store bags.

Athens Greece was eurorific! I think I spent 10 euros on a donut! Yummy.
It’s a small and cute monastery, at the very top of the butterfly valley. You can visit it before entering into the butterfly valley. It has some parking place in front of it. Interestingly, once you enter the premises of the church, you will encounter an amazing view of The Valley itself. It’s worth the stop. The monastery also has a small shop for refreshments that you can buy there, lots of benches and tables to sit and enjoy the breathtaking views, a small shop for goods, and a small tiny museum. The back of the church also has a toilet.
Nice monastery above butterflies valley, worth additional steps up the hill. It has a small interesting museum, as well as WC and vending machine for drinks (less expensive than at the bar at the exit of the butterflies valley).
