Exceptional stay in Jerusalem. Nice, quiet rooms, a very historic, lovely and thoughtful atmosphere and design. The breakfast was superb. Thanks to the owners and their team with Juliet, Arafat and others for your kind and friendly service. We enjoyed our stay so much and will come back when we visit Jerusalem again.

The whole experience was horrible. We were waiting in line to get a table when friends of one of the waiters arrive and get seated before of the whole line (at least 3 couples). It took forever for a waiter to come and take our order, and the guy didn’t bring his tablet with him so he wound up forgetting to send it at all. He came with the tablet about 10 minutes later to retake our order. One of the dishes (schnitzel challah) arrived ~20 minutes before the other one (hummus). The second schnitzel challah never came, and when we asked a waiter about it we kept getting told it is in the making. 30 minutes later we asked for the check and saw that the waiter lied and the second challah was never even ordered. Overall horrible experience, stale challah, average hummus at best. I will say that I’ve ordered Walt from here a bunch of times and they were good, but I definitely won’t do that again.

Location is short walk to damascus gate.
Food is delicious & nothing too much for the staff.
Definitely recommend here to anyone visiting Jerusalem

Definitely the best hummus I have ever had in my life! I had hummus ful with chick peas and tahini. The texture was so smooth and peas were nicely fluffed up. It was served with a generous amount of fluffy pitas, pickles, peppers and tangy dip for only 30 NIS! The store owner was so friendly to talk to us in English. The restaurant was very clean with a cute atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Very welcoming family run boutique hotel. It was a terrific place to return to at the end of the day. Quiet and tucked away from the bustle of the old city. Can’t wait to return and can’t recommend it enough!! They took great care of our little group.

A family-owned hotel and restaurant located at an excellent location near Damascus gate. The hotel is renovated, but maintains its old Jerusalem heritage style. Clean rooms and excellent service. The restaurant serves delicious traditional dishes with a modern twist. Highly recommended.
Visited the new location after having eaten twice at the old location during my last 2 visits to Israel. The hummus is flavorful as before. However, as they are not as busy as before, their pita is not as hot & fresh since they don’t need to replenish the pita supply that often anymore.

I was very sad to see that I was the only customer in the entire restaurant at that time of the afternoon. New location is great, but I think they made a big mistake moving out of the Carmel market. New visitor are likely going to completely miss this place since it’s no longer in the market. Only people who know of this place from past visits are likely to come looking for it.

Also the outside signage is very minimal at the new location and I missed it as I walked past it when I came looking for it this time. They need to have better signage in both Hebrew and English. Else it’s very easy to miss it.

The owner should be ashamed of giving this kind of food and service to the society. Looks like the worst end of a party on the “carnaval” in Rio de Janeiro. That’s it!

Whaaaaaaaa? So yum! Authentic, simple, just so damn good, open till sold out! And the renovated old Tel Aviv classic 1920 architecture is just a bonus gorgeousness on the eyes in the middle of the Allenby smog, traffic and grossness! Worth the detour! Next time I'm there I'll get it "with everything" עם הכל should have been more courageous!!!

My expectations were sky high... but this was disappointing.... Hummus was lacking in flavor. And while I'm no stranger to Israelis, this guy was particularly rude. As I'm eating there was a roach crawling up the wall at the table next to us. Did this place fall from grace or has it always been this way?

This traditional hummus spot is absolutely delicious! If you're not too hungry, I recommend getting a half portion as the full portion can be quite filling and overwhelming for one sitting. Fava Bean hummus was my favorite!
The food is excellent, and the service and attention of the owner are even better. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I went at breakfast time. The restaurant had only been open for about 30 minutes. Lots of people coming in and getting take away orders. Simple menu they just 3 types of hummus and shasuka. I had the spicy hummus with the extra toppings and a boiled egg. An amazing way to start the day. I passed by a few hours later during lunch time, the place was full!

Worst pasta I've ever had. In my first order, the sauce was watery and almost flavorless. I'm giving them two stars instead of one because they allowed me to order a different dish without much fuss. The second pasta's sauce was, again, watery and almost flavorless. Friends of mine who ordered an hour ahead of me had pastas that were a bit better, so I will attribute this to a single cook that must have been scheduled for the shift after their orders.
Es gibt alles zu kaufen was man braucht, von Lebensmitteln bis zur Waschmaschine... Ein schönes Kaffee lädt zur Pause ein. Empfehlenswert
This is very good place to eat delicious hummus and safe money as the position costs 20 shekels. Strongly recommend! Very delicious and very good quality! The portion is served with pita

Fantastic… absolutely fantastic. A very eclectic mix of flavors available, and the staff is so friendly. They genuinely care that you enjoy your experience. I can’t even name all the things we enjoyed here, but they’re quick to offer extra pita if you need it, which is a wonderful thing, especially with pita as good as theirs. There’s also a wide variety of salads available, all of them very different. My recommendation? Order a plate… get both types of shawarma… fill your stomach to infinity and beyond. Then run across the street for some frozen yogurt while you continue to think about how great the experience was.

It started OK and ended being very disappointing. It took a while to get the attention of the stuff to get a seat although there was room and people standing around. Hummus had a little too much liquid for my taste but also seemed like a small portion. The prices on the menus have been updated using white label (Red flag #1) but when the owner charged me extra and did not enter the right amount in the cash register (skimming income) that concluded that this place needs to be looked at. Was a shame, this used to be the place where I ate as a kid. No more!

This is an "unassuming/funky" restaurant on the edge of Shuk Hakarmel.
The food was tasty although not special.
The service was very so-so since no one ever stopped by our table after the food was delivered and I even had to flag a server to get the bill.
I ordered a dish not knowing that it was offered as either sandwich or a plate. The order taker did not inquire which of the 2 options I wanted and just wrongly assumed that I wanted it as a sandwich.
The middle eastern music is playing at high volume.
The kebab was great! My partner had the entrecote and said it was ver good.
Firts courses were great as well, especially the carpaccio, eventhough i prefer thinner slices.
Worth a visit

The food is absolutely delicious!
The menu contains original and unique courses.
# Two must try dishes:

Nice little place. The menu is changing according to current local products and there are some permanent dishes. There are options for vegetarians also and everything is shareable. We ordered 4 dishes and a dessert which were all tasty, portions are small/ medium. The service was very good, the waitress explained and recommended about the dishes. Prices are reasonable and not too high for this kind of restaurant.

So, went there with the wife for dinner, sat at the window bar.
It was a tad bit cramped but we were there alone for the most part.

They asked for credit card when we booked our reservation which is highly unlikely for a non michelin star restaurant.

Had a bottle of wine, the wine was great, but when they gave us tastings to choose it, they really cheaped out and me and my wife could barely both taste the wine.

Anyhow we got past that.

Had the meat tartar and fish tartar which were great.
The bread was a bit stale which bummed things a bit for us.

Ordered the 40 yolk pasta, was disappointed. Was not to my liking.

The fetta dish was really good.

The stuffed colon was also supprisingly good.

All together for me the food was really good, the dish sizes are between first to second course sized so ordering a few is recommended.

Has desert, forgot its name, it's was nice, the wife loved it.

All together it was a great and fun experience, next time I'll come for wine and less food since it was expensive. Ended up with a 630 nis bill, but we did have quite a bit of food.

I feel like it's a bit overpriced.

But the overall food and vibe of the place was fun and fresh. Not a lot of places like that in tel Aviv.

A solid 4/5

The Hummus HaCarmel is absolutely delicious! It is neither too light not too heavy, and doesn’t make you fall asleep immediately after. I love it. The prices their are also very fair. It’s a great spot if you wanna do some shopping at the Carmel Market as well. Good spot!
Lovely place..good food. Very good service. I had good pasta and my friend loved her fish. Reservation. Avoid going there at 14:00. The tables 30 cm apart and so crowded and loud we texted each other over the table.
Top quality fish restaurant, kosher dairy, have been there several times and enjoyed everything we ordered.

Slightly too much on the liquid side, but good nonetheless.

Update 2023:
We had the extended set menu.
The main thing I can say about our experience is that it was fun and interesting.
The food was interesting, but many dishes lacked the super tasty kick.
As for the fun, although service was messy, and we felt a bit rushed by the pace, the place is cozy, and cool, with a great wine menu.

2017:
Nice little wine bar, with good food, and fairly priced
