A bit over-touristic I feel about this place. Perhaps I have personal bias against Penang coffee ( I always think Penang street food is No.1 in the world except their coffee😝😝🙏🙏) . Seriously so so coffee shop Roti n coffee la. My wife said Politicians like Lim Guan Yin eats here; I joked he must hv been very busy n conveniently grabbed a bite; does not necessarily means he loved it. Anyway good place for tourist to clock their senseless IG moments.

Good variety of bread and spreads, nasi lemak is really good too. Place is a bit dingy with flies but I guess that’s a vibe.

Be prepared to queue even on a Monday at 9AM. Spent about 30mins in total here — 15mins queueing and 15mins to eat.

A humble staple breakfast place. Very local coffee shop serves decent food with affordable pricing like liu fun, wantan mee, yee mee, fried stuff and etc. The beverages brew also quite nice meeting the Ipoh standard. Good place to have morning tea because they provides daily newspaper for in-house reading.

A very old and established coffee shop. I was craving for hokkien lor mee and not many coffee shops have such stall. So I was kinda happy when I just happen to pass by this place and saw there is a hokkien mee + lor mee stall. So I went ahead and ordered it. Also top up extra sio bak (roast pork) and total came to about RM10 for that one bowl of hokkien lor mee. Not exactly the best one that I have tastes as I feel the soup is a bit diluted and not that flavorful enough but still happy as manage to solve my craving at that time.

There are many more different hawker food available at this coffee shop and they all look nice so definitely can visit and try. Parking can be a bit challenging as there are limited road side public parking space.
Char koay teow is RM8, coffee bread egg set is RM9.90. Ask for steamed bread

Best tim to visit is by 7:30, not:7:40am. The shop start servicing the patrons after the water boils.
Nostalgic lane cafe that is the main attraction, and it is worth the visit but not worth the queue.
We arrived when the store is opening, hence no queue.
Typical kopitiam breakfast.
Perhaps due to the overwhelming tourists, the staff service attitude is absent. Many first time visitors are puzzled by how to order or when the server coming to take their order.

I think this is one of the most underrated cafes in Georgetown. Of course they only serve simple bread and coffee. This is my most localized experience. Best poached eggs ever.

Tried out this famous breakfast cafe. Queued for about 30mins. So let's start with their Nasi Lemak, it in Bungkus with really small portion. their peanut sauce taste good. Kaya Butter just normal. their Kopi also normal taste for me as everyone have different favour of coffee likes. One time visit was enough for me, thank you

On a Friday at 9 am, a line had formed, comprising both locals and tourists (likely more tourists). The wait wasn't extensive, thanks to the efficient table assignment by the staff. Our choice was the EGG ON TOAST 面包 (TB 8), where the toast had an incredible aroma, meticulously grilled over smoldering charcoal.

I usually come here for Hokkien Mee, Wan Tan Mee, and Jawa Mee. It's considered one of the best in Penang, and I highly recommend it.
New Cathay Cafe is one of my favorite breakfast in Penang.
Glad to be back here in July 2023 after 3 years of pandemic and lockdown periods.

Already know this place for years but ended up having the same favorite dish : Wantan Mee Soup or Kweetiau Soup.
Its really good having the tasty and warm noodle soup in the morning before any activities. It will boost your mood.
Glad to know that after a while the taste of wantan mee is still as delicious as before.
They have also good coffee, black and sweet to make my tummy happier.
Happy tummy happy me 😁😁

Seems like quite a popular place for coffee among the locals. Located inside a narrow alley, it is quite easy to miss this one out.

Toast (kaya + butter) and coffee are quite good to me and definitely above average to most people. Enjoyed a short afternoon coffee break here.

One of the famous coffeeshops that closed on Sunday (based on comments from others), this place serves a variety of foods to choose from. The famous banana raisin pancakes are a must buy for my point of view. Jawa mee and roti Babi are good to eat too. Cheap and good food. Service is ok as most hawkers apply to self service instead of waiting tables. The place may be overcrowded sometimes, so do come early to avoid long waits. Ample parking for early comers.

PSA: don't sweat the parking. Park at line clear parking lot and walk 2mins. Easy peasy.

This is one of those socmed elevated joints. I asked myself what's so special about this place that there's a perpetual Q. I came on a working work day and there was still a sizeable Q.

The unique point I think it's the charcoal grill. The bread is grilled on open charcoal, very rare to find nowadays. Lightly burnt and crunchy on the outside and soft at the centre.

I loved their coffee. The heavy taste and aroma is a perfect pick me up. A bit sweet for my taste so my next order will be less sugar. I liked their nasi lemak. Small pack, simple and unpretentious. Delicious but again, the sambal was a little sweet.

I must commend them for their half boil egg. For me, it was a Goldilocks egg yolk and egg white consistency. Their other offerings were ok. I would say average and expected.

The environment is unique. Simple chairs and table located at a lorong half exposed to the elements. I suppose you can call it a local simple roadside coffee stall vibe.

In short it's a nice place to drop in if you are in the area but nothing spectacular that you would make a journey for.

The belacan fried chicken is awesome. The chicken is tender juicy with nice belacan scent coated. Fried tofu is abit normal for me. Friendly owner and surely will come back again.
Have also tried the fried maggie and surprisingly the taste is really nice despite young chef ...

Densely packed kopitiam serving breakfast to both the locals and tourists. Food prices can be slightly on the higher side due to tourism.

Highly recommended the Lam Mee; soup is flavourful and price is compatible with prawn and noodle portion. Wantan mee is good too but you should let the lady know how you like your noodles to be; I like it al dante so I remind her not to cook it too soft. Fish meat vermicelli is flavourful as well. The fish meat is fresh and tasty.

Personally, I feel the apom by the road is very very expensive. The taste is just so-so but the price is almost double the price other sellers in Pulau Tikus/Tg Tokong/Tg Bungah. People sell RM3-4/5 pieces, this one selling at RM6/5 pieces. It’s ridiculous! 😌

Patrons should remember to put parking tickets, otherwise you’ll have to pay MBPP fines for illegal parking.
Great economy rice, they cook perut ikan nyonya dish every Thursday
Beverage drinks are 😋

It’s a busy hawker centre known for its breakfast crowd. We barely found a parking spot around and also just a table enough for the 5 of us. We enjoyed our breakfast there, most notably the Apom manis!
味道不错,只是没有Parking。
太难找到Parking。

如果你迟来Order, 也是等蛮久。
我八点到也是等30分钟。

咖啡跟套餐饭,东西好吃又便宜。
Located at Jalan Perak (opposite Perak Road Fire Station), Heng Leong Restaurant is one of the most popular coffee shops among locals.

The restaurant is always packed with customers. Provides a mixed variety of both local and western cuisines. Here, you can find Koay Teow Th’ng, Economy Rice, Western Food, Char Hor Fun and Bee Hoon Soup.

Heng Leong Economic Rice stall typically consist of a case containing anywhere from 40-50 troughs of cooked food!
Service very very very slowwww... food not tasty.. Drink just come out after we ask several times... Bad service too.. Not recommend at all..
best half-boiled eggs; tea and coffee very good
price very economical

cons -
a) mosquitos

also...perhaps this place is VERY popular
b) we constantly had other patrons stand next to us starring, one even "tapped" on our table constantly trying to stress us to "please leave" well before our paid-items arrived.

highly, highly stressful.

A very busy coffeeshop with lots of choices. We tried the pork bun from the roadside stall at the other corner. Took the one with egg, which is the over-hard egg wrapped around the pork meat. Nice. Only I cannot get used to the sweet soft buns with something salty in between. But that is personal.
We also tried the apom with sunny side up egg (with a very runny yolk! great!). It is presented on a very thin very crispy pancake which serves as 'plate' for the egg. Something rare, but nothing fancy. It's eating like half-boiled egg and you can also eat your plate :-).

Road side truck selling 豆腐花 DOU FU HUA is so nice... So tasty 😋
Neighbourhood kopitiam located at Tengkera.
Spacious and clean.
You can find many types of local favourites - ranging from traditional toast bread/kueh, nasi lemak, chicken chop and simple zhi char.
Environment: 👍🏻
Food: 👍🏻
Price: affordable
Serving: reasonable waiting time
海南面好吃❤️面包也好吃😋
人手不够,所以需要等。食物还不错
Drop by for my all time favourite, Hainanese toast bread 👍🏻 comes with thick slices if butter🤤 location are easily spot, parking might a bit find, just park near opposite of axis optical shop, walking distance less than a minute.
Cosy & Comfortable. Reasonably priced for the location.
Been here most of the time the economy rice. It is served for lunch and dinner. Expect to queue to get your plate of rice before getting the buffet style accompanying vegetables, meats and combos ( eg. taufu & meat).
The total cost depends on what you want to eat.
The food there is delicious enough for you to return again for more.

Nice food there
Koay teow tng noodle was the on the spot cooked version. Soup too diluted. But, ingredients quite generous at RM4.20 per serving. 3 stars

Western food stall just besides koay teow tng. Big breakfast was cheap at RM12 and extra mushroom room at RM6. Value for money. Taste wise, just so so. Good when hunger for Western food with tight budget. 3 stars

Good food
had the western breakfast today for the 1st time. Definitely will return! :-)

Reasonable pricing. Taste wise is satisfactory.

Scrambled eggs are tasty, better than some other places (at least to my taste buds).

Mushroom soup is earthy, yet tasty.

as for the Kopitiam, nicely placed tables unlike many other kopitiams that "optimise" the space making it super congested. This one is comfortable and acceptable ventilation

The food store change from time to time. Now it’s economic rice from 10am is one of the best food you can get here.
With a plethora of dishes to choose from, price is quite economically too!
The laksa fried spring roll store next to it is a must too! Rm1 per spring roll. And the laksa soup is given for free! Super crunchy and tasty.
Western food no bad
